My 6 yr. old son has ADHD & is taking Concerta. He was having trouble settling down for bedtime & not sleeping well. His pedictrician told us to try melatonin, starting with 3mg. He has been taking 6mg about 30 mins. before his bedtime & he is asleep with in 45 mins. It has really helped him rest & he is in a better mood when he gets up.

Taking for 1 month. Having SEVERE musculoskeletal pain & stiffness, bulging veins in my legs & purple toenails, extreme drowsiness, but still can't sleep, decreased mental function, depression, weight gain-I can't move due to pain & stiffness. This is a dangerous drug. Be careful

It can sometimes help, but for me it seems to lose effectiveness after a few days. First use of it got me back on a "normal" sleep cycle of night-midnight-early morning continuous six hours of sleep. A few days of this was wonderful, then the wakefulness at 2am started up again, and I'm back to where I was two weeks ago of 2 hours of sleep, 4-6 hours of wakefulness, and then a desperate need for sleep which I fall back into for 3 hours--VERY inconvenient for a stable work-life balance. It's good for cycling through. Try it for a few days, then switch to something else. I had vivid dreams the first night, and now it just seems normal to have them. I tend to remember the dreams when I wake up during the night. My sleep band that checks my sleep patterns shows I go into deep sleep during the first two hours, so maybe it's helping with that.Read More Read Less

I sleep soundly and don't wake up in the middle of the night after taking it. I wouldn't take it nightly though, I become groggy the next day if I do.

Shift worker. Take 0.3 to 1mg as needed to change shifts, or to sleep until the new cycle is natural.

It doesn't help me fall asleep as much as it helps me stay asleep (I don't wake up during the night anymore). I just hate the burning sensation when orally applied.

Melatonin caused me to have the most horrible, terrifying, and graphic dreams Iâ??ve ever had. Violent Dreams. It literally scares me. I donâ??t know what it had in it that would effect me the way it does. I will never take or advise anyone else to take melatonin. Please be with someone before trying it.

It helps me to sleep, but the longer I take it, the more dizzy I am getting, and it's increasing my depression.

I have been taking melatonin since 2007, it is now December 2019. I've never suffered any noticeable side effects. Although after having taken melatonin for so long, I feel as though I've developed a resistance. I now take an upwards of 40mg per night. Doctor said 12mg is the MAX, but I'm stubborn and I want to sleep lol. I prefer the Jamison brand, especially the chocolate mint flavour. It melts in your mouth like a nice little piece of chocolate... I've started taking these during high school. I couldn't sleep due to stress, anxiety and depression.... I may also have become addicted to melatonin, as quite a few other sleeping drugs do not affect me nearly as well as melatonin does.Read More Read Less

It did a fantastic job at getting me to sleep, witch has always been an issue for me, but it worsened my depression significantly.

Dreams were very lucid and vivid. Dizziness was after about 30 minutes. The worse side effect was the headache upon waking. Like a hang-over and energy level very low. Falling asleep seems quicker, but the after effects will make me not want to use it very often.

I have had horrible feelings since I started melatonin. I feel hung-over, and yesterday I was close to hallucinating. I was definitely altered. The only thing that has changed is that I started taking the melatonin a week ago. One day the feeling of being altered was so intense that I didn't recognize a good friend I've known for over a year! I use a CPAP, and since I've started melatonin, the number of events I've had has gone up. I never feel rested during the day. I'm done with melatonin!

Felt like the drug was trying to strangle me to sleep. Multiplied my anxiety. Terrible sleep followed.

Started taking 2 to 5 mlg.of melatonin for the past 6 to 8 months. Started having excruciating pain in every bone in my body. Stopped only last night. Helped with the morning headaches and sleep but the bone pain is so intense. Read the same thing by many people! Won't ever take it again.
