I was reading some of the other reviews, about vomiting after taking a pill. If you are highly lactose intolerant, 1 pill will be OK for A PIECE of cake with milk in it or the frosting. If you are only slightly intolerant, 1 pill will be OK for a meal of pizza OR a serving of icecream. It's not magic; it all depends on what your body produces on it's own and/or how allergic/intolerant you are. And...

What a nightmare. My doctor told me to try this because I became lactose intolerant after I got a parasite in Mexico. Within 2 minutes of swallowing this pill, I turned completely red, was so hot, I asked my husband for ice. Then I got the shakes. Then I was in excruciating pain and dry heaving over the toilet for the next three hours. I finally threw up. I was sick for the next 48 hours but not ...

Like many others who reviewed this product, I experienced violent vomiting a couple of hours after taking one pill.

I took Lactaid Fast Act Oral several times without incident. Then a week ago I took it and was violently ill three hours later, with chills, vomiting, and diarrhea. I thought it was food poisoning, but the next time I took the Lactaid, the same thing happened.

I haven't eaten dairy in 7 years due to severe intolerance. Other pills did not work. This one seems to work great, with only occasional gas, and I have used it several times.

If you do not have allergies to milk products, but can not digest them well... this product works great. I have not experienced the nausea, vomiting, and so on others have experienced. Most likely an allergy is at play when that type of side effect happens. But I am not dr. Otherwise this product is fantastic!!!

i've tried several brands and this seems to work best for me. However, although it stops the diahrea, it does not stop the gas. I am still looking for a product that will ease both symptoms, but in the meantime will continue to use this. Its great to be able to enjoy cheese, pastries, and other milk products. Without the pills I can plan on an embarassing accident if I eat any type of dairy, even just a dab of butter on my toast.

This product helped me the first two times I took it... Then things got bad. Nowhere did I see the side effects listed but I experienced nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. HORRIBLe! The side effects are WAY worse than my body's reaction to the dairy product without anything. Definitely not worth it and I wasted money! I won't buy any of their products again. They need to list the side effects. It effected me for over 6 hours- I was incapable of doing anything.

I found the chewable form to be the most effective for me. Can't eat dairy without it. No side effects for me. Love it! Haven't found it in stores lately, Feb 2013, maybe its because it is made in Canada? Hope its back soon, running low.

Within two hours of ingesting, had severe projectile vomiting for several hours. Stopped only when whatever seemed to be left of the pill finally came up. Was left weak and sweating for balance of night and most of next day. It is awful. There are no contra-indications listing on the packaging. Be VERY careful using it. I will NEVER use any such product again. Would rather go through the misery of eating/drinking dairy than what I went through with this drug. Also now seems to include Lactaid milk and other dairy products. Be careful using this! Read More Read Less

This medicine sucks!!! I took it and rather than help it gave me intense stomach pain and explosive diarrhea! It is awful...my symptoms from eating dairy alone are much less irksome.

My problems with this med didn't occur immediately (taken with milk/tea in morning), but it hit as soon as I had another meal: Both times it lay like a lump in my stomach and I was nauseated. The first time I managed to avoid vomiting (I tend to vomit for a long, long time once I start) but was miserable all day; just now I let nature take its course. As others have reported, it was violent and even painful, ending in dry heaves. I hope I got the damn thing out of my system. Why isn't this listed as a side effect?Read More Read Less

I became lactose intolerant when I was about 25. I thought something was really wrong with me. I was a huge milk drinker. went to doc and she said lay of the dairy for a week - shoot 24 hrs later I was right again. Anyway for me I thought life was over. LOVE MILK and Cheese etc... Friend intro-ed me to the Lactaid and all has been pretty good overall since. I definitely recommend them, but sometimes I over do it and they just do not work enough. One thing that I have found is Mootopia at HEB - this milk is awesome and taste right - Lactaid milk sucks - only use it for cereal. Anyway at least this is an alternative for some, as opposed to a dairy free life - which again would suck, because Ice Cream taste GOOOOD!!!Read More Read Less

My Gastrointestinal doctor thinks I'm lactose intolerant, and recommend I try lactaid, before going lactose free in my diet. The 1st time I took Lactaid Fast acting, I was sick for an entire day with violent vomitting, diahhrea, and muscle fatigue and chills. The doctor told me I had a stomach virus, but I knew that was wrong because I had only become ill on the tuesday and thursday I took the lactaid, not on the wednesday in between. So now, a month later, I have taken the lactaid again with an early a.m. snack of cheese and crackers. Like before, I am violently ill about 1 or 2 hours after taking the pill. I have now proven that the lactaid is the problem. Interesting to see so many are getting sick, yet the box lists no warnings and never indicates this to be a common side effect. Alarming.Read More Read Less

I became lactose intolerant after getting some weird thing from the water in Europe. I'm glad I didn't read these comments before I tried this product - they would have terrified me. But I have never had any problems - with the brand name or with the Kirklands (Costco) brand. This allows me to eat normally - ice cream, cheese, italian food -basically anything. I'm assuming what the other people are experiencing is an allergic reaction.

I will be away from the US and think this will be very helpful since I may not find Lactaid which I drink regularly. I usually drink more than a gallon/wk. A side effect for me is constipation and feel the tablets may not be the best daily.

After becoming intolerant to milk and yogurt, I thought this Lactaid Fast Act pill was a Godsend. I first noticed I became mildly nauseous. I took it before dinner once, and vomited the whole meal on the car ride home. I thought it was something bad I ate. The pill was working and I could eat dairy just fine, as I thought. This last time, I wanted ice cream, took the pill and violently vomited again about two hours after. I know it is the Lactaid Fast Act pill now. It knocks me out the following day too with chills and sweats. I think I will go back to my soy milk. Ice cream is not really good for you anyway. Read More Read Less

This medication made me very sick! Each time I took it, with in an hour, I was violently vomiting, had severe abdominal cramps and diarrhea, had the chills, etc. After a few times of this happening I was able to figure out what was causing it, I haven't thrown up in years and this was a pretty big shock. I don't know if it was a reaction to the lactase or the ingredients that bind it, but I won't be taking this medication again.

For the first few years it had worked fine- now I've tried several times and every time I get severe nausea and dizziness. Can't take the pills anymore. Lactaid milk still is ok-for now. I think our bodies may develop some allergy to it somehow over time.
