I was reading some of the other reviews, about vomiting after taking a pill. If you are highly lactose intolerant, 1 pill will be OK for A PIECE of cake with milk in it or the frosting. If you are only slightly intolerant, 1 pill will be OK for a meal of pizza OR a serving of icecream. It's not magic; it all depends on what your body produces on it's own and/or how allergic/intolerant you are. And...

What a nightmare. My doctor told me to try this because I became lactose intolerant after I got a parasite in Mexico. Within 2 minutes of swallowing this pill, I turned completely red, was so hot, I asked my husband for ice. Then I got the shakes. Then I was in excruciating pain and dry heaving over the toilet for the next three hours. I finally threw up. I was sick for the next 48 hours but not ...

It seemed to help a little at first but suddenly it stopped working. My intolerance became much worse.

Severe nausea and vomiting for about 3 hours. Taking some time to feel better. Never taking this again.

Same story as many of the other 1 star reviews! Lactaid makes me violently ill. It is not the lactase enzyme itself, but one of the additives in the pill that is making us all sick. Fortunately, the other brand on the market (Lacteez) has completely different (and fewer) additives, and it works perfectly for me! So try that!

Almost immediately after taking, my child has the chills, diarreah, cold sweats, nausea and cannot move for hours! He didn't even have the chance to consume the food he took the pills for! I wouldn't have related the two, until I came here to see that everyone else is experiencing this same thing. This has happened both times my child has tried to take this for relief from dairy.

I was taking these to help with my lactose intolerance. But I started to notice when I would take them I would be gassy plus other stomach issues that flared up when taking these. Sad they weren't for me. Back to the dairy drops for now

Same as most reviews; violent vomiting beginning about 1/2 hour after ingesting. First time, thought it was a coincidence, second time ... learned my lesson. I did a ton of research and definitely wondered why there was not a "very serious' warning on product packaging (there should be, maybe there is now?). This was all years ago; I hadn't/couldn't find this site/these reviews then. The product works for some, not so much for others. So after all my research and finding no warnings or other negative reviews I made an assumption that is was the binder and not the lactase in Lactaid that was causing my violent reaction? I ingest lactase via other products without any negative reaction. I would recommend researching the "binder" vs. lactase! My advice on the product, user be very warned.Read More Read Less

I tried these pills and within an hour or so I was vomiting. I thought it was coincidence, so I tried taking another pill several days later. Same thing happened, vomiting for hours after the pill.

I have tried this medication, as directed on the box for symptoms of mild lactose intolerance (bloating & gas pains as my biggest complaint.) I took this med and each time, about 1 hour after taking it I get a burning sensation/reflux then within the next couple hours I start to feel weak and then vomit multiple times.at first I thought it was coincidence but it has happened every single time.

My sister took the lactoid pills to help out with her lactose intolerance. She was fine for the first half but when it got later like around 11pm she started getting diarrhea and heavy vomiting for a good 2-4 hours straight. She reacts better without the pills than with them, I definitely don’t recommend these pills to anyone. 0/10 experience.

For the first few times taking it I was able to eat lactose products without feeling ill. However, I started to vomit every time I took them. Do not recommend whatsoever.

Took those twice to try to help with intolerance. Within an hour was vomiting to the point of dry heaving. Looked all over for this being a side effect but to no avail. Only able to find some confirmation on this page. Think this side effect should be listed with the product. Thank you for sharing your experiences here to help me find closure...

i take it because I DO stay bloated...this enables me to expel gas....and strangely enough, when taken with one "heartburn and gas" chew actually helps asthma symptoms....sounds silly, but i`m not kidding..i don`t know what exactly the interaction is but it helps... this stuff surely helps me..that,along with the fact that it has a very safe medical profile makes it a permanent staple in my medicine cabinet

The first time I took this pill was a couple months back to have some ice cream since I have some lactose sensitivities. After a few hours I was over the toilet vomiting and was bed ridden and chilled for the rest of the evening. Thought I just had a bug. Second (and last) time I took it was two weeks later. Exact same response. I don't recommend this at all.

Diagnosed with lactose intolerance my doctor reminded me that I could take a Lactaid FastAct pill and so that night, eating a homemade pizza with very little cheese, I took the Lactaid monster. It made me sick that night for three hours. I vomited violently and repeatedly and had diarrhea that was voluminous and uncontrollable. This is a very dangerous supplement. The makers of this supplement owe me a cleaning crew and a new washing machine. Shame on J&J for not providing this information on the warning label.Read More Read Less

The only issues I've ever had with lactase enzyme pills have been with not taking enough. It took me a while to figure out what dosage worked for me, depending on what I was eating, how sensitive my stomach was being, and what strength or brand I was using. I want to be clear about something, however -- Lactaid and lactase enzymes are in no way a cure-all. You may have a dairy allergy, and I doubt they would work for you, or you may be incredibly sensitive and no less than 9 doses might work. This is a supplement, not a prescribed drug, and you need to figure out for yourself whether or not it works. I personally have been taking lactase enzyme pills for nearly 4 years, and they have rarely ever let me down. Read More Read Less

My husband is on the bathroom floor writhing in agony for the SECOND TIME. The other time when he took the pills we were on a train in Italy and had to get off while he vomited for hours. Why is this on the market. It should carry a warning and the BS on WebMD that most people are just fine with it needs to have a serious caveat. MANY people have terrible problems on this medication. Lactose reactions are nothing compared to this foul medication.

I used to take lactaid pretty often and only had bloating as a side effect. I took some last night and woke up this morning vomiting and feeling sicker than I’ve felt in months. Do not use it!! There are plenty of dairy free options out there to keep you from using this.

I took this product two different times a week apart. The first time was followed by diarrhea, cramps and gas for a day. The second time resulted in five hours of intense stomach ache, vomiting and intense diarrhea for 4 hours. The next day I was still experiencing diarrhea and slowly improved.

Both times I used this, I got EXTREMELY ill, so bad that I thought it was a bad case of food poisoning. Intermittent vomiting within half an hour, lasting a full day the first time and several hours the second, with excruciating stomach pain that radiated into my ribs and back, nausea, fever, sweating. Persistent upset stomach, nausea, and body aches for over a day following use. 100x worse than just dealing with the symptoms of lactose intolerance!! I'll never use a lactase product again and I caution anybody thinking about trying them to schedule a test run where you don't have any obligations for the next day or two.Read More Read Less

PLEASE READ! This is a follow-up to my previous 1 star review. I have to say that I really don't know if this med is effective because today I learned that it is likely that I do NOT have lactose intolerance. My problem was coincidental to taking Lactaid Fast Act. I was diagnosed with gall bladder disease and my severe vomiting, cramps and diarrhea were due to a blockage in my bile duct. It was actually the fat in my meals and ice cream that lead to the symptoms and NOT the Lactaid Fast Act. Should I ever have a need for Lactaid I will certainly try it again. From the sounds of it many of the others with similar "reactions" should have explored this possibility. My apologies to the makers of Lactaid Fast Act.Read More Read Less
