I was reading some of the other reviews, about vomiting after taking a pill. If you are highly lactose intolerant, 1 pill will be OK for A PIECE of cake with milk in it or the frosting. If you are only slightly intolerant, 1 pill will be OK for a meal of pizza OR a serving of icecream. It's not magic; it all depends on what your body produces on it's own and/or how allergic/intolerant you are. And...

What a nightmare. My doctor told me to try this because I became lactose intolerant after I got a parasite in Mexico. Within 2 minutes of swallowing this pill, I turned completely red, was so hot, I asked my husband for ice. Then I got the shakes. Then I was in excruciating pain and dry heaving over the toilet for the next three hours. I finally threw up. I was sick for the next 48 hours but not ...

Same as the other reviews. I started taking this Lactaid Fast Act about one month ago, as I suspected that I was lactose intolerant. I didn't take it every day, only once a week or less. At first it only caused me severe stomache pain, but on 11 Feb, 23 Feb, and 28 Feb, I had severe bouts of nausea and vomiting, intensely painful. These horrible reactions lasted for hours. Everytime I took that Lactaid, I threw up for hours. I can't believe it took me three times to puzzle pieces together. I will tell everyone I know that this medication induces SEVERE VOMITING AND DIARHEA. HORRIBLE. Don't let anyone you love take this medication. Tell EVERYONE!Read More Read Less

I was diagnosed with being Lactose Intolerant, and was referred to this medication by a good friend of mine. I took the proper dosage as directed on the bottle. Even though i followed directions, i still have stomach cramps and diarrhea. I haven't had anymore symptoms from this. If i do not take this diarrhea is worse then taking it. I have even increased the dosage before eating diary and its still the same. I feel that it does not work like it should. I wish there was something on the market that we could take and enjoy diary again without any side effects. Read More Read Less

I was diagnosed with lactose intolerance and told to use Lactaid Fast Act when eating dairy. The first few times I was fine, but by the third time I found myself with horrible nausea and dry heaves. I thought it was something I ate, non-dairy related, but I ate the food again and didn't have the same outcome. I decided it was this pill and I never used it again. I just avoid all dairy all the time. The pill isn't worth the side effect. And eating dairy isn't worth the side effects.

I took this medication 2 times and both times it made me very ill. The first time it happened I thought maybe it wasn't attributed to the pill, but after it happened the second time I know now for sure. I rarely ever vomit, but a few hours after taking it I started feeling flu like symptoms, and had to rush to the bathroom to vomit. It's not worth it, I'm never taking this pill again!!! It should definitely be a side effect indicated on this medication.

Finally found a solution to eating dairy again. Used to get terrible diarrhea and stomachache after eating dairy. Not so, since I started using lactaid. I feel free again to enjoy all the dairy products I wish.

HORRIBLE! We think this is a reason for my fiance's terrible illness he's been suffering with over the past week. We thought this would be a way for him to easily digest dairy, but every single time he's eaten one of these pills he's had violent vomiting, diarrhea, stomach cramps, severe pain, and gas problems. We even went to a gastro doctor a few days ago, who didn't say anything about the pills being the cause, but we believe this to be the issue. This is the third time within the past week that he's become this sick, and it's been 3-4 hours after having a meal with dairy and a lactaid pill. We are going to ask for our money back and never take these again!! >:-(Read More Read Less

OMG all those comments are so negative and very familiar. I always had trouble disgesting dairy products since I was little but after taking LACTAID it became disastrous. The first two weeks were fine but then the few other times that I took the LACTAID pills, before drinking just a little bit a milk, made me vomit like crazy. The worst thing is that they never mentioned ''vomiting'' as a side effect, but THEY SHOULD. Seriously, drinking milk alone accompanied by the regular side effects is WAYYYYY BETTER than taking the LACTAID pills before any dairy products and endure the violent 2 hours or more of vomiting.Read More Read Less

Similar to others here...I was fine the first couple of weeks I used this medication. Then I started getting nauseated...culminating in an excruciating night of violent vomiting and stomach pain that took me to the hospital. I tested it a couple of weeks later WITHOUT eating any dairy and then same symptoms occurred. For some of us, it is absolutely these pills that is causing this distress NOT too low a dosage. I have never had dairy do to me what these pills did.

I decided to try Lactaid Fast Acting to help with digestion of dairy products, first couple of times. I felt a sour stomach, next time about an hour after taking 1 pill, stomach hurt, severs gas, burps. violent vomiting, severe chills thru the night.. I thought maybe I had the flu as going around. I felt good all day until I ate, then took 1 pill again. I hour later, violent vomiting, cramps, chills. Lactaid Fast Acting went in the trash!!!

I started taking Lactaid fast acting chewables because I thought it would help my digestion of certain dairy products. The first time I followed directions precisely and became very ill, very quickly. I did not vomit, but the diarrhea lasted for 2 days. Since I didn't make the connection, I tried the same food again with precise dosing and within an hour I had severe vomiting, severe diarrhea, chills, fever, cramping. At some point in the episode I thought, what if it's the pills? I am now convinced it is the Lactaid, 2 times is enough for me... The public should know about this side effect! I sure wish I did. I started taking this a week ago and ever since I have been extremely dizzy and tired. I have had no problems with the other brands but this product is the worst. I would rather have the side effects of dairy than the side effects of this medicine.

Daughter was self diagnosed with some lactose intolerance. She is 22 and has been having some stomach issues when eating dairy products. When they were removed she was better. She decided to try Lactaid Fast Act tablets so she could enjoy dairy sometimes. The first few times she took the medication it seemed to work, but now we suspect it is making her violently ill. The last 3 times she has taken it, the medication has been the common denominator in a day long episode of severe stomach cramping, vomiting, nausea, diarrhea, a itchy rash and feeling horrible in general. We thought she had a severe stomach virus, ulcer, or food poisoning. She went to the doctor and all test were negative, so we are pretty certain the Lactaid Fast Act tablets are the problemRead More Read Less

And that varies with stress and health. Currently, I am at 1 pill for 1 small piece of pizza OR 1 slice of cheese. I have been at 2 pills for a slice of pizza, at times. The pills do not help me with icecream. Hope this helps someone else.Read More Read Less

I have thrown up more times in the last week than I have in 25 years. The first time I took this pill was last week followed by another an hour later. I became violently ill, throwing up, diarrhea, for two days but thought I had a stomach virus. Last night I took one again and same thing happened, throwing up for hours. The two brand new boxes I just got are going in the garbage. I cannot go through this experience one more time.

I bought lactaid with high hopes it would enable me to have food with milk in it. Interestingly, the first two or even three times I took it, it worked. (I have medically diagnosed lactose intolerance.) THEN, on the 4th time, I had a severe reaction about 2 hours after taking the pill with food as directed. I felt so unbelievably ill for hours, burping first, and then violent vomiting. That was last Thursday. I attributed it to food poisoning, though I really did not see that my grapenuts with very fresh lactaid milk substitution could have caused it....Then last night, I ate out with a friend and took a lactaid enzyme pill again (first time taking it after that viloent reaction on Thursday) and guess what — a nightmare period of severe vomiting again, following that burping sensation first. Both times, it occurred about 2 hours after taking the pill. Horrible night with chills too. Both times it ended and I could eat and everything, so definitlyly not a flu. Do others believe that this aspgillus mold in the product is the culprit? I need some help, here. Thanks. Read More Read Less

I used this product for months (not daily), and I was finally able to enjoy dairy again. I was so pleased! But in the last two weeks, I have experienced the terrible side effects others had mentioned, namely vomiting. It only happens when I take the pills, so it's not some stomach bug. Looks like my dairy days are over -- again.

THIS drug made me so SICK. Can't believe it, it took me to the hospital. I tried it first last week and had nausea all the night. I was not sure if it was what I ate so I didn't think it was the Lactaid Fast Act. But, today I wanted to eat ice cream so I took one pill and 1 hour later, I was violently vomiting, had severe abdominal cramps and diarrhea, chills, and very low pressure. I went to the hospital and stayed all night. Never again! I see many people have this issue. This drug is crap.
