I took mucinex fast dissolving pills as perscribed on the box last year for extreme cough post covid. I am 5’2 light female and 1 pill was practically enough to put my in the ER. This medication should NOT be on the shelves. It gave me extreme dizziness, lightheadedness, tiredness, the worst stomach ache (worse than period cramps), bad diarrhea, and practically hallucinations. I fell down a flight of 5 stairs because I was just stumbling around stuck at work. I would rather suffer the cough than ever take this again. Unfortunately I was unable to go to DRs or pharmacy at the time without a car, so started cutting it into 1/4s and was okay with 1/4th of the pill no side effects. I want other people of my height and stature to know NEVER TAKE MUCINEX. Read More Read Less
well let me just say it do help with the mucus but this should not be sold in stores it makes your more sicker i rather stick to being sick with a regular cold 3 days after taking the pills i started throwing and shitting constantly i felt awful
Caught a cold and it's just been lingering in my lungs. Took 1 dose (about an hour after dinner) and my stomach has felt awful ever since. Gave me diarrhea and just feel like I'm gonna get sick. Definitely helped with the chest congestion, but considering the alternative I will probably just opt to deal with the cough next time. I've been to the restroom about 5 times in the last 3 hours. Not fun. Summary: great for congestion but incredibly hard on the stomach. Pick your poison.
I have used regular Mucinex before, the pills, and it works well. This time I have some ugly cough with flema and runny nose so I decide to try this one, as it is liquid. Like everyone else is saying it helps with the cough and cold, but it gave me the worst watery explosive diarrhea I have ever had in my life. I only took three doses, enough to be in the toilet all day. My stomach is very upset and my head feels heavy. It does what is says, but the size effects are violent. I will not take it again. This is the first time in my life that I took Mucinex. I am 62 years old! I had bad allergies for months from all the cottonwood floating around, my apartment! I had a bad cough, with a lot of mucus, and I was tired of it, and nothing helped with my allergies, I bough a few allergy meds, and even Benadryl! It was only a small temporary relief, for a few hours! So I bought some Mucinex, today from Amazon, and once it was delivered, I took one pill after 12:30 pm. An hour later I felt kinda dizzy, tired, sluggish, so I then laid down on my bed, to sleep it off, and my stomach started to hurt really bad, so I got up and took two tums for the stomachache, which helped a little, so I stayed up for a few more hours, until my stomach pain wasn’t as bad! Then around 7:00 pm, I was exhausted and still dizzy so I went to bed! Around 8:30 pm, I was suddenly woken up with the worst stomach cramps ever, and so much deep gut pain that I haven’t felt since I had the stomach flu many years ago. I went to the bathroom and I had the worst explosive water diarrhea it wouldn’t stop coming out, I was in the bathroom for at least 15 minutes, it felt like you’re peeing from your butthole, it was awful! The explosion diarrhea finally stopped at 9:00 pm, but I still have a dull and painful stomach ache, and I am up right now, and I can’t sleep!! The Mucinex did help with my deep cough, and the thick mucus, but my gosh the side affects are severe, I am never taking this medicine again!! I have read a lot of the reviews from others on this site, that unfortunately suffered the same after effects as I did tonight!! Please take Mucinex with caution, and expect bad side effects! Ughhh Oh great my tummy just rumbled loudly….I might be up all night!!! GrrrrRead More Read Less
Had an ongoing cough for 4 weeks. Mucinex 1 tablet did not help at all, still have a wet cough & 3 hours later developed watery diarrhea & stomach pains. I will not be taking another dose.
I took exactly as prescribed. Second dose in started with sustained and awful stomach pain, nausea, and diarrhea. Didn’t help with my cold at all.
The pollen count was very high this weekend and it gave me a migraine and post nasal drip. I took the Mucinex DM because the post nasal drip caused me to cough from the mucus buildup. After the second dose, my symptoms decreased. However, I developed a sick stomach with cramps and mild diarrhea that I just had to leave my workplace and head home. I will be contacting my PCP to learn the best way to get this awful medicine out of my system!
Don’t take this at night cause the cough will keep you up all night after you take this sometime in the afternoon.
I was in the hospital for a couple of days with asthma exacerbation(ithink thats how you say it) my meds at home were not working and I couldnt get rid of this insane and persistent thick mucus in my lungs and nose that kept making me wheeze like crazy. As soon as I started the medicine I started feeling relief. Day 3 im clear and can finally breathe on my own and all mucus is gone. Day 5 on it (per instructions from doctor) i start having terrible cramps, nausea, and watery diarrhea. In conclusion: medicine is very effective but the side effects can be very uncomfortable. But once you stop taking it the side effects go away quickly and youre left with no mucus. Recommend only for those who are more desperate for relief and need something stronger.Read More Read Less
I had nasal congestion, a lot of drainage that led to sore throat, and had begun to cough. My brother recommended that I take some Mucinex. I actually had some DM from a year or two ago and it was still good (exp 6/24). This stuff worked as advertised! Been taking it for 3 days now. Today, Day 4, I've begun experiencing dizziness all day. I'll take the next dose before I go to bed and stop there. My cold should be cleared up. If not, I'm seeing my doctor tomorrow anyway, so he can help me from there. Haven't had any gastric issues like others have reported, but the dizziness is a big concern. Read More Read Less
Took this at the tail end of an illness, just to kick the end of a cold that had been hanging on. Took before bed, and, felt a little dizzy as I was getting into bed, and slept horribly. Took again in the morning, and went to work. About an hour later, got really dizzy, blurred vision, tight chest. Ended up in the ER, with blood pressure 205/140 (I'm normally 115/80). The ER dr thought I had OD'd on amphetamine. Arms and legs constantly flailing. Lots of valium calmed things down, but, two days later, mind was still foggy and couldn't count past 7. Too ~ 5 days before I was able to function again.Read More Read Less
Dear Sick Humans, Picture this. It’s Christmas Day 2022. You’ve arrived at your Mother’s house for your family’s annual Christmas Day feast. As you noticed a tickle in your throat and a slight cough, you grabbed some Mucinex DM from the convenience store on your way up. Don’t need anyone eye’in you like you got the “VID”. You throw the two Mucinex DM tablets back with some water (likely not enough) without any thought to the fact that the last time you ate was yesterday. Similarly to Thanksgiving, your family opts to forego ALL meals for the day in anticipation of said feast. Fast-forward 30 minutes. The Bird is out of the over resting. The mac and cheese is coming out of the oven. The rolls are being buttered. Everyone is starting to sit around the table as they prepare to Bless the food. And then it happens. A VERY audible DROP. A gurgling sound is produced for your lower gut. This is NOT a “hunger” gurgle. This is a “you have 3.7 seconds to make it to the nearest restroom cuz it’s about to get UGLY” gurgle. You hurriedly excuse yourself from the table and B line it. You clench tighter because the closer you get to the bathroom, the more violently your stomach churns. At the very last moment you arrive… and it’s occupied. I’ll spare you guys the details.. as I’m sure you can imagine how this ended. The moral of this story is that this medicine may cause physical and emotional damage… and you may end up having to replace the carpet at your mom’s. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Read More Read Less
This stuff was very effective for reducing nasal congestion, post nasal drip and it got the mucus out. Cons... As soon as I took it, I felt an immediate rumble in my stomach and was up all night with watery diarrhea. My heart felt like it was gonna jump out of my chest. Couldn't sleep, tried to combat that with melatonin, 40mg and still couldn't sleep. When morning came around, I got up feeling drunk and loopy with a headache and was just mad at everything around me. Would completely recommend this product for someone you don't like. This stuff helped relieve congestion but made me violently vomit. Burning, rotting sensation in my chest, n diarhea. Thought I also had the flu but realized each time I took this med, I felt so sick. Horrible! Id rather have my cough than deal w this rotting feeling from Mucinex Max.
I had been coughing and wheezing for 3 weeks. My Dr. recommended Mucinex. On day 4 I had some stomach pains. By day 5 it was explosive diarrhea. It did clear up my wheezing but wow, what a side effect!
Used for 3 days HAD TO THROW AWAY!!! Caused very watery diarrhea and made me dizzy!!!!!! Felt very hungover on this medication. Read and repeat. STAY AWAY!!!
I was a bit congested and had a cough so decided to buy Mucinex. I took my very first dose this afternoon and noticed later had diarrhea for some reason, couldn't figure out why until I googled it and sure enough this does case diarrhea. I only took one dose (two tablets) and never used Mucinex before in my life, I'm taking this right back to Walmart for a refund, spent $ 13.00 on this and definetly not using again after this happened. What really concerns me is the really more severe reactions some people encountered. Read More Read Less
My husband and I took this before bedtime to help with our cold. We both slept horribly and woke up feeling hungover. It took most of a whole day to recover from it.
Took this right before dinner after being super congested with post nasal drip the last 2-3 days. It’s now been 6 hours since i’ve taken it and my cough has gone down, congestion a little better but i can’t tell if that’s from the meds or me feeling better. Regardless, this medication is terrible. Not worth the dizziness and lightheadedness im feeling right now. Just take some benadryl and go to sleep or try some Xyzal instead
