I have been taking this medication for almost 8 years for anxiety issues. It has been extremely helpful for me. Very recently I was experiencing a bit of anxiety for the first time in many years, so my dosage was increased from 7.5 mg 2X/day to 10 mg 2X/day. The increased dosage has eliminated the anxiety attacks. I see that a lot of people review this medication after only being on it for les...

Started taking it to help with social anxiety and panic attacks. My Dr started me on 5 mg 2x daily. The first night I started the medicine I had a 2 hour panic attack and then the days following I had to take it I had depersonalization for an hour or two. It gave me really intrusive thoughts and made me feel like I was losing it.

I've been on Buspirone for 3 months for generalized anxiety, and it works well. I'm one of those people who get insomnia from it, probably because I struggle with insomnia anyway. As a result, my psychiatrist now has me taking a single 15mg dose in the morning only. I feel it kick in about 40 mins after taking it. I start to feel more awake and I get a "zap" through my body like very mild dizziness. I have no side effects whatsoever (no more insomnia with morning dosing). My usual racing thoughts, ruminations, and fast heartbeat have quieted down. This is a 'gentle' drug. It takes weeks to build up in your system, though I started to feel calmer on Wk 1. If you're looking for instant relief in a crisis, then this probably won't work bc it's not a benzo. I'm also on Mirtazapine 45 mg at night for anxious depression, and that helped a lot with my insomnia. But we added Buspirone bc I still had some lingering anxiety on the Mirtazapine alone.Read More Read Less

So far, so good, but I have only been taking it for a week. I have read some reviews that say it takes awhile for it to work, but I felt immense relief and a feeling of well-being with my very first 5 mg dose. I can't EVER remember feeling so happy. Like that old church song, "It is well with my soul." My initial thought this first week was, "This should be in the water supply." But as I read these reviews, I see that different people have different results. One other note about different experiences: I read several reviews where people said it caused them restless leg syndrome. I've suffered from restless leg syndrome all my life. I've gone this entire week sleeping well and have zero restless leg syndrome.Read More Read Less

Works OK for anxiety but useless for panic attacks. In addition, gave me terrible restless legs that were a nightmare. Thankfully, a Neurologist prescribed Klonopin for recurrent panic disorder and agoraphobia.

I'm 56 and was having terrible hot flashes, I mean the worst, several a day. My anxiety was on high so my Doc tried this and almost immediately my hot flashes ended and I haven't had one since. In a much better frame of mind as well. Everyone is different but I recommend this for menopause symptoms.

This works really well for me I take half of ten milligrams in the morning and at night it does sooth my anxiety extremely takes away my sadness as well itâ??s non narcotic or addictive. Depending on what level of anxiety or meds your taking that your body is used to you might get different effects I highly this especially for younger people as well if you feel dizziness or nausea try reducing the dose Iâ??ve had happen to myself before I took less and I was ok your body has to get used to it and not actually having anxiety I hope this review leaves you all well and I wish the best of luck to those who suffer from anxiety and depression Read More Read Less

Terrible, had to stop using. Gave me really bad nightmares, blurry vision, and muscle weakness, while not decreasing anxiety all that much. Benefits definitely did not outweigh side effects

Was given this medicine for anxiety 5mg daily. Was on this for about 4-5 months. I found out that this drug made me see double. I always thought my vision was going bad . Soon as I stopped my vision went back to normal. I do not recommend this drug.

I believe in the beginning it was prescribed for anxiety, but I started taking it at night and it really helped me fall asleep. It does make me a little drowsy, but that only helps me fall asleep. The main thing it does is help me shut down my brain from all the things I have running through it which allows me fall asleep faster. I can now get more sleep which helps me not be so anxious during the day.

When I first started taking this medication, it seemed to relieve my anxiety symptoms. 2 weeks in, i started to feel more paranoid, fearful, anxious and just bot myself. I started getting intrusive thiughts that i never had before. I am now weaning off this medication slowly and really hoping the side effects are reversible.

I found this medication to be extremely effective initially. For a period of about 8 to 10 weeks. I was taking 5 mg twice a day for a few weeks and then increased to 5 mg three times a day. It helped immensely at first and I felt normal for the first time ever in my life. I wasn’t overwhelmed by feeling all the feelings at the same time. unfortunately, there seems to be a lack of effectiveness now at the 10 week-ish mark. I hope my doctor can help sort it out because it has been pretty great. The constant diarrhoea is a bit of a pain but are used to struggle with chronic constipation so…Read More Read Less

I had been having speech issues for a few months prior to starting this drug and it seems that it is worse now that Iâ??ve started it. Difficulty with speech, uncontrollable jerks and spasms and memory loss, along with insomnia are the worst symptoms Iâ??m having now.

I started taking this quite awhile ago and thought I would share my experience. I changed one of my meds (this one) and within days I was getting horrible night terrors and sleep paralysis, sometimes lasting hours. I got off it within a week, and a few days after I stopped it, my symptoms stopped. I don't know the effectiveness, all I know is that was a side effect that never was reported.

This medication has made my anxiety worse. Makes me feel nervous, pounding headaches, extremely dizzy, electric shock sensations through body, and makes my sleep problems worse.

2 weeks in no difference sleep for 1 hour wake up and up all night dizzines ..uneasiness 10mg x2. Have anxiety and possible depression. I am sole caregiver of my end stage contracted 93yr old dementia affected mom that hospice has been coming to my house for 25 months. I dont take meds for anything other than minor things. Actually doent work for me it seems easier to let anger fly out normally quiet and calm. Honestly dont think any meds will help my situation... maybe give it to my worthless 3 siblings that refuse to help with mom.Read More Read Less

I was prescribed Buspar 5mg twice a day for anxiety. After trying Zoloft for 1 year and Lexapro for 3 months. Buspar made me have increased irritability and anger. Rage. Emotionally unstable for the first 2 weeks..crying almost nonstop for no reason. The other side effects were horrid as well terrible nausea and dizziness. I would not reccomend Buspar to anyone at all. Did not work for me.
