I have been taking this medication for almost 8 years for anxiety issues. It has been extremely helpful for me. Very recently I was experiencing a bit of anxiety for the first time in many years, so my dosage was increased from 7.5 mg 2X/day to 10 mg 2X/day. The increased dosage has eliminated the anxiety attacks. I see that a lot of people review this medication after only being on it for les...

I started having severe anxiety/panic attacks several years ago. I was put on Zoloft. Things did get a little better but I continued to have A/PA to some extent. I was prescribed buspirone (5mg three times a day) about 3 mos. ago. Things did get a little worse at first but my doctor wanted me to stay on it for a while longer. After about a month I started to have less and less A/PA. Some days I even feel almost "normal". I would recommend this but you have to give it time to work. I'm hoping it will rid me of the A/PA for good! Read More Read Less

I was prescribed this medication for my near constant severe anxiety with the hopes of finally finding the medication that would help me be rid of it. Unfortunately it caused me pretty extreme nausea when I took it, especially with my morning dose, even with food. When I was able to get over the nausea, it gave me a light headed feeling, and helped with my anxiety somewhat. Overall it wasn't worth it and my psychiatrist said it wasn't working the way it was supposed to for me, so he took me off of it.Read More Read Less

First of all, this is a medication for anxiety...not depression. I take a separate medication for my depression. I started with 7.5 mg/2 daily for the 1st month with no change. Moved up to 10mg/2 daily with no change. I'm now taking 15mg/2 daily and for the first time (maybe since I was a child) I am almost anxiety free. Picture clenching your toes (this is what my entire body felt like only I didn't know it because I had felt like that forever so that was normal). Now my whole body has un-clenched. Side effects for me: dizzy (only in the a.m. - sometimes I need to lay down for 10 minutes until it passes). So far, that's the only side effect although after reading other's, I will pay attention to my sleep (which was horrible before but I'm also going through peri-menopause and that comes with a whole bunch of "side effects"). So far the benefits out way the side effects but it has taken over 2 months to find the right dose so don't give up if you aren't feeling anything positive...you may need a different dose.Read More Read Less

I am a 38 year old man who feels like a new person on this drug. It has been very helpful. I am no longer shaking my leg and biting my nails like I did for years. I have PTSD and this stuff is the best med I have had thus far.

I just started. First week 1/2 dose twice a day for 2 weeks. Then one whole dose twice a day. Back to Dr. and blood test. FYI for Panic attacks I take Ativan to prevent them! Works like a charm.

This is the first time I've ever taken an anti anxiety med and the first week was full of exhaustion and some irritability but I held on and by the second and third week I was feeling lots better. I've been on it for just over a month and its helped me so much. Its evened me out and I feel more in control.

Started taking 5 mg and I became angry all the time. Upped the dose and I became even worse. Didn't seem to control my anxiety.

So far, this has seemed to help. Buspar does NOT help you sleep. I am taking it in the AM and it does, give my anxiety some relief. But if you want to sleep get something else, like Ambien....

Side effects at first starting this drug. Tired and foggy-head. This may also be because of going off Celexa the week before. Now, I feel like myself again. Have a sex drive back again! Life-saver!
