I have been taking this medication for almost 8 years for anxiety issues. It has been extremely helpful for me. Very recently I was experiencing a bit of anxiety for the first time in many years, so my dosage was increased from 7.5 mg 2X/day to 10 mg 2X/day. The increased dosage has eliminated the anxiety attacks. I see that a lot of people review this medication after only being on it for les...

First, most of my life I've had trouble with anxiety, especially social anxiety, but have tried very few medications for it. My anxiety is worse than ever now, I think because I have cancer and am in a terrible predicament because I don't trust or want traditional treatments/medications, yet I don't know what the cancer will do next. I have more than one type of cancer, at least one of which has metastasized. I'm taking letrozole, which wrecks my attention span and ability to concentrate and is also terrible for my emotional state, causing ever increasing levels of rage and anxiety like nothing I've ever experienced before. I started taking buspirone to try to help with that growing anger and anxiety. So it seems to be helping somewhat with the social anxiety but nothing else. It's also caused my insomnia to get much worse.Read More Read Less

I am so amazed. This is the first type of medication I have been on for anxiety and it is a real life changer for me. I would recommend this to anyone. I have noticed if I dont eat something when I take it, I'll feel a little swimmy headed but its worth it because I am relaxed and calm.

I loss my wife about six months ago and I thought that I was gonna lose my mind as well. But as in life she took care of!e in death. There was a prescription of hers that needed filling, so without a second thought I had it filled, cause that's what husband's do. Well a month past and I was in horrible shape. I told my doctor what I had done and he instantly wrote me my own prescription. And I've been a happy camper every since. Love this drug.

This is a miracle drug for me. Nothing has ever worked on my anxiety before. Iâ??m still not perfect, but Iâ??m on a relatively low dose and will increase it soon. I feel so much better and my mood has improved as well. No side effects except for an occasional short lasting head swimming. It only lasts for 5-10 minutes though, so itâ??s tolerable. Donâ??t drink alcohol with this, because it will hit you like a ton of bricks. This medication has changed my life. I went from completely non functional to being a working, calm person. It did take about a month for full effect though, so give it time, though I had some relief from the beginning. Read More Read Less

I have only been on this medication for a few weeks, and from what I am reading, it appears that I am on a higher dosage than almost anyone else I have read testimonies from here. I am prescribed 30mg twice a day (so 60mg total). Apparently I wasn't titrated like others on here. BUT, I do feel more calm and rational now. I'm on 2 other medications, also, but I can definitely feel the BusPIrone HCL after I take it, and it has relaxed me. This is better, to me anyways, than Xanax, as Xanax left me feeling almost comatose. I can function on this medication, and my panic attacks have definitely decreased. My advice, as I see most patients commenting on here, is to have your doctor increase the dosage first (if possible), before giving up on it. It appears that I am on a much higher dose than most, but it does work. Read More Read Less

This works good for anxiety but the dizziness side effect was horrible. I was so light headed and dizzy I would stumble into things and get horrible hot flashes.

If you google this drug the only thing listed as the description is "It can treat anxiety." I don't know who for. I made it seven days on this drug, which in my opinion needs never be prescribed for anyone with anxiety. After day three, buspirone made it very difficult to sleep and made me jittery. By day seven I had terrible headaches and did not sleep at all that night. Absolutely terrible drug for anxiety.

I had taken sertraline for a few years dur to anxiety and panic attacks. I live in a northern climate and hate the short days we have. I hated the drowsiness and lack of sexual interest from it. So, I went off this in early spring and was well most of the summer. However, I don't think I was meant to without for very long. I tried Buspirone and it has worked ok-I don't have the drowsiness or lack of sexual desire. I'm hoping it works better for my anxiety as I have been on it for a little over two weeks-and I have the possibility to increase my dosage.Read More Read Less

My anger was out of control and mood swings from one extreme to another - giddy to screaming. Buspirone now 2 X 20 mg/day for ~4-years - happy, empathetic, motivated - completely changed my interaction with colleagues and family. Cannot state the benefits or me (female engineer R&D management)

This drug caused my REM stage of sleep to be excessively active. The amount of dreams and bazaarness of those dreams were at a level I've never experienced, and I always dream alot. but it did help me calm down during the day.

I have been waiting for a drug to work so I could write one of these reviews. This is the one that did it. I am taking Zoloft 50mg and Buspar 20mg a day because I had a traumatic episode and my anxiety was out of control. I couldnt travel for work anymore and I couldnt sleep in my house without my mom. I was worried I was never going to be a functional adult because I couldnt even feed myself I was so anxious. Before my episode, I only needed Xanax .5mg to get me through a panic attack, but then I was having panic attacks 3-4 times a day and I didnt want to take Xanax as a long term solution. Xanax is the holy grail of anxiety medication and I respect it too much to build a tolerance when I need it in a pinch. First of all, you need to give Buspar at least 30 days to feel anything different. Buspar is not an instant gratification like Xanax is. I took Xanax with the Buspar to ease into it. Then one day you will just realize, "wow I used to worry about this and now I haven't given it a second thought. Sweet!" I had a slight headache and a teeny bit of vertigo at times my first few days of Buspar. That was it. I had some weird WEIRD dreams the first week but they were more entertaining than anything. And then no side effects at all. Not tired. Sometimes I have a hard time concentrating on my thoughts, but I think that is what stops me from creating irrational fears. I am finally able to relax and enjoy the things I want to do. I am more social. I am traveling. I am leaving the house without even realizing I dont have my Xanax with me. I get the best sleep of my life. This drug is the miracle worker. I dont know if the Zoloft has anything to do with it, but they seem to mix together well. I dont have any issues with either. I dont have depression, just anxiety. But I feel much happier now that my life is normal again. Please give Buspar the time it needs to subtly change your thinking patterns.Read More Read Less

I was given this when I had PPD and I have continued taking it. I take it at bedtime and have for the past 5 years because it still makes me a little dizzy/fuzzy. It keeps me pretty calm - I was off of this medicine for a few weeks due to insurance issues and I could DEFINITELY notice the difference - I was irritable and not very happy. With exercise and this medicine, I feel pretty good. The only side effects that I have noticed were dizziness/foggy/fuzzy-feeling for a little while, lowered BP Read More Read Less

I started having severe anxiety/panic attacks several years ago. I was put on Zoloft. Things did get a little better but I continued to have A/PA to some extent. I was prescribed buspirone (5mg three times a day) about 3 mos. ago. Things did get a little worse at first but my doctor wanted me to stay on it for a while longer. After about a month I started to have less and less A/PA. Some days I even feel almost "normal". I would recommend this but you have to give it time to work. I'm hoping it will rid me of the A/PA for good! Read More Read Less
