I have been taking this medication for almost 8 years for anxiety issues. It has been extremely helpful for me. Very recently I was experiencing a bit of anxiety for the first time in many years, so my dosage was increased from 7.5 mg 2X/day to 10 mg 2X/day. The increased dosage has eliminated the anxiety attacks. I see that a lot of people review this medication after only being on it for les...

I have been on Buspar for about 5 weeks. I stepped up slowly to the dose of 15mg 2 times a day. I am just now starting to see some good benefit to this drug. I was using Ativan .5mg 3 or 4 times a day. I have now been able to step down to 2 .5mg of Ativan a day with the Buspar and as the Buspar works better I will totally step off the Ativan. Buspar changes the brain chemistry and helps to improve serotonin....that is not going to happen quickly so if you are trying this drug give it some time. If you start at a small dose say 5mg or 7.5mg and work up you will also see less of the side effects. I now have no side effects. I love the fact it is not a sedating drug.Read More Read Less

What is going on with medications like this? I was sick to my stomach, could not get off the couch without throwing up and feeling like I wanted to pass out- heart actually hurt and felt like it was being squeezed. I need this for anxiety? ha!! I want to live my life, with this medication I WILL stay in the house, since it makes you too sick to do anything else! I will stick to half a xanax if I have any anxiety episodes. Do not take this pill, the side effects are not worth it!!

I have been taking this medication for 2 weeks and I have noticed I am not as anxouis as I was but I still have my anxiety and panic attacks. I have recently been started on clonidine to take the edge off of my anxiety attacks. of which I am not sure of I want to switch my Dr and find one for some other means of relieving my anxiety attacks.

I just started today so ignore my ratings. I took 5 mg at 2pm. It's now 6pm and I've had no side effects I can notice. I took it with juice and had a snack a bit later. No one said with or without food. I already have bouts of vertigo and dizzyness and am tired so even if I did experience a reaction, I'd have to see something dramatic. I will report in again if I start to have different side effects and again in a month to see if there is a result. Some background (I think this helps people searching to know if a person chronically takes drugs etc) I don't take drugs normally, I have taken some Ativan for sleep and anxiety attacks. I had gluten induced panic attacks and depression a few years back, they tried to give me all the drugs but I reacted. I eat organic and natural and gluten free of course. I take natural supplements instead of drugs. This is not my course of choice but I've been under EXTREME stress for 2 years and need to get on track. I'm a professional and I need to be together, I hope this does it, I'll be off it in no time. There is no way I'll stay on a drug.Read More Read Less

My shrink put me on this drug for depression and anxiety. I have been taking it about a month and cannot see any change in the depression but the anxiety is somewhat better. I take 5mg three times daily. If I miss one, it doesn't take long for me to really have a bad anxiety attack. I dread the time when I have to get off of it for some reason. It's not sopposed to be habit forming but I can tell it will be hard to stop abruptly. Overall, if it helps your anxiety, I recommend it. It seems to have the fewest side affects of any of the anxiety drugs I've taken in the past. Good Luck and don't be afraid to tell your shrink if it's not working for you or the symptoms are too hard to live with. Living without happiness and normalness has no point. I have reached that point. Have a great life. Read More Read Less

I have been taking this for about 4 months now. Works for the anxiety but have noticed lately I have been haveing severe chest pains and I have lost a lot of weight, 35lbs in just the first 2 months of starting the medication. The chest pains stay in my chest, does not travel to my left side but it has me worried! Does anyone else have this problem? I have gone to the E.R. twice for it but they never find anything. I'm wondering if they are just muscle spasms.. If anyone is haveing the same symptoms please, let me know how you are doing with it all. Read More Read Less
