I have been taking this medication for almost 8 years for anxiety issues. It has been extremely helpful for me. Very recently I was experiencing a bit of anxiety for the first time in many years, so my dosage was increased from 7.5 mg 2X/day to 10 mg 2X/day. The increased dosage has eliminated the anxiety attacks. I see that a lot of people review this medication after only being on it for les...

I HAVE 4 KIDS AT HOME, JUST STARTED A FULL TIME JOB AND MY TWO YOUNGEST JUST STARTED SCHOOL AND MY ONGOING ANXIETY GOT EXTREMELY WORSE. HAVE TRIED CELEXA AND IT WORKED GREAT FOR A LITTLE WHILE THEN WAS SWITCHED TO BUSPIRONE. I GET EXTREMELY DIZZY SHOCKS THROUGH OUT MY BODY AND IT MAKES ME TIRED. TAKING IT ALL AT NIGHT TIME HELPED A LITTLE BUT NOT MUCH..

Prescribed for anxiety episodes - 20mg daily. Has been effective but do experience the dizzy & blurry vision side effect about 1 hr after taking. This passes. Has been pretty good on eliminating the anxiety but if I miss a couple days - here they come. So the root cause has not been addressed. HAS ANYONE BESIDES A REVIEW IN MAY OF 2011 EXPERIENCED SEVERE JOINT PAIN? I have had joint pain since Feb and am told by Dr this med has no side effects - which I disagree as I've never had these pains before and they started a few weeks after I started pills. I've ruled out excercise and supplements as the cause. he did do blood work to eliminate Rheumatoid arthritis. Tired of being in pain. Good med for anxiety but I don't want to take for years.Read More Read Less

I have been on and off xanax for about 10 yrs, no one told me there was something like this. In 3 weeks I have gone from 6 mgs of xanax to maybe 1 or 2 mgs. I take 10 mgs 2x a day, almost no side effects. I noticed an improvement in my attitude within a week. I am so happy that I found a medication that makes me feel normal for the first time in my adult life.

I have been struggling with GAD for 2 years, and would have panic attacks. I tried anti depressants and the side effects would just make matters worse. This drug was difficult for me to get used to, I got pretty dizzy for the first week and couldn't sleep for anything. I kept using it becuase I noticed a decrease in my anxiety, and after 2 weeks the side effects disappeared. I still have small bouts of anxiety in high stress situations but its a lot easier to stay calm for longer periods of time. I now sleep like a baby and can make it through the day not worrying about everything constantly. This drug has truly changed my life.Read More Read Less

I have a totally different twist on this drug. About 20 years ago I had my first blood pressure reading that was high. Stayed in the range of 130's over 90's. After years of trying several drugs and therapies to treat high blood pressure, none of which worked, I discussed with my doctor my social anxiety issues. I have spent my life avoiding social situations when possible. He prescribed Buspirone as a beginning therapy to see if my high blood pressure was caused by the so called white coat syndrome.Immediately my blood pressure normalized and has stayed perfect for the last 3 years since I started this drug. It has never made my feelings of anxiety better. I am here writing this review as I was studying the drug because in the last couple months it seems to have lost it's effect on my blood pressure or I have other problems now as my blood pressure is remaining high again. Will be talking this over with the doctor in the next couple weeks. So, I can't say anything about it's affect on my outward anxiety but it had some positive internal effect on my blood pressure. I can't take more than a half a tablet at a time as it gives me a strange dizzy feeling. Interesting to hear about the weight gain as I have definitely gained weight. Never associated it with the drug.Read More Read Less

I have anxiety/panic attacks often. I went to the doc to get something I could take to make them stop, so he put me on Citalopram. I gained 40 pounds in 4 months so he put me on Pristiq for depression. Now the panic attacks have come back and I'm being treated for depression when I'm generally a really happy person. I don't like the Pristiq b/c #1 it's expensive and #2 the withdrawal symptoms are insane - I had to go to the ER. Anyway, now he put me on Buspirone 7.5. I've been taking it for over a week now and the only thing I notice is that I'm very quick to anger and I still have anxiety attacks. I feel like this doctor doesn't listen to me. I don't want to be on a drug I have to take DAILY. I just want something to calm my anxiety!Read More Read Less

I had severe anxiety. Another move, another stressful job, I have been burnt out for years and did not want to accept it. I could not function at my new job had to quit. Been on meds 5 months now. Started with 20 mg. Now on 10mg. If I take over 20 mg I get a migraine. This drug made me gain 18 pounds in 6 weeks!!!!! Took 2 weeks to get any relief, which was mild. Still have panic attacks, they are just milder. Working on getting rid of the source cause drugs are not the answer. I would recommend this for SHORT TERM USE ONLY. The weight gain made me angry heaven knows when I will work that off!Read More Read Less

Very sedating when beginning the drug therapy and had to increase the dosage slowly. In time that effect goes away. It can also cause nightmares. I have a high stress job and can definitely say this has helped me be calmer and better able to concentrate.

When needing a higher dose of buspirone because of high stress and anxiety, I found it to quickly help decrease my symptoms and calm me throughout the day as well as be more relaxed to sleep better.

I thought any day could be the last. I felt like every problem every person in the world had belonged to me personally. Would prepare to leave for an outing and continuously try to not go or get back as soon as possible. The anxiety just escalated to a point where shouting was my only means of communication. This med is giving me my hope to live and love again.

I have been taking it for a couple months now. I notice when I take it I get very tired. The thing about it is if I fight not falling asleep it makes me feel sick and if I do fall asleep I sleep for a few hours. This is frustrating because when I take it in the morning after just waking up I don't want to go back to sleep. Another thing I noticed with this medicine is that I have a shorter fuse, I get irritated with every day tasks more easily. I have also noticed that I can sometimes forget things that I was supposed to do, this hasn't happened before in my life until about a month after I started taking buspirone. Overall I do like this medicine for the simple fact that my anxiety seems not as severe when I take it.Read More Read Less
