I have been taking this medication for almost 8 years for anxiety issues. It has been extremely helpful for me. Very recently I was experiencing a bit of anxiety for the first time in many years, so my dosage was increased from 7.5 mg 2X/day to 10 mg 2X/day. The increased dosage has eliminated the anxiety attacks. I see that a lot of people review this medication after only being on it for les...

It is my first month of taking Buspirone and so far it has helped tremendously for the symptoms I was concerned with. However, I was supposed to start my menstrual cycle this past Sunday or Monday. It is now the end of Tuesday and I have yet to start. I do have a condition called PCOS that naturally makes my cycle irregular and or nonexistent. I am on "the pill" and that has kept me regular for the past 6 to 8 months. All of the sudden I am not starting. I took three at home pregnancy tests and all came up negative. The last time my husband and I were "active" was ten days ago. As I said, I am consistently on "the pill". I will post an updated review with how my situation turns out. I am really curious if it is possible that Buspirone is responsible for my cycle not occurring.Read More Read Less

I do not have an extreme amount of anxiety, but enough that i wasn't sleeping at night and I am very irritable at times some sortness of breath and chest pressure . My doc has me on 5mg twice a day. Depending on the day I will usually take a half and on other days a Whole when needed. This medicine has helped me to be able to stop and take a deep breath and calm myselfs down. 5 stars

I suffer from depression, anxiety, and a mood disorder. Have been on buspirone for years now. At first worked good for anxiety but as time went on I started having bad mood swings. Never had any side effects from busp. itself, but I think it may have aggrevated my mood disorder 10 fold. I take 20 mg in a.m., 20 in p.m. & 20 at bedtime. Over years, I think I have grown to an tolerance of busp and still suffer periodic anxiety attacks that last entire days. All in all I think it helps with anxiety, but after long term use which I started with 10 mg 3X's daily and had to be raised to 20mg 3X's daily for at least 1-1/2 years, it is not working as well. I also take Xanax 1 mg. 3X's daily with this med and still have periodic anxiety attacks, so something is not working any more. Did it cause my mood disorder to excelerate? Don't know, but I think so from reading other's reviews.Read More Read Less

I have been taking this med for 2 weeks and so far it has not helped. Have been experiencing severe "electric shock sensations" and it's making me feel way worse than before I started this med. Plan to discontinue if ESS do not subside.

It really helps calm my constant anxiety and stops my brain from running to fast constantly. I much prefer it over tranquilizers.

I have been on it for nearly two years. For most of that time it worked at 30mg x 1/day. On my worst days I took two. About halfway through this time I developed twitches that has become quite bothersome and noticable to others. The twitching is at its worst when my anxiety is high. The twitching started in one arm and my feet. Now the other arm, both arms, neck, stomach and chin are developing it. To add to it, taking 30mg x 2/day isn't enough. I was told that it is the maximum, but today for instance, I am on my third one at 30mg and it is just after 3 pm. It was very effective for the first year plus, however now I need to get off of it ASAP. If you experience twitching immediately speak to your doctor. The twitching can become permanent, even after use of the medication.Read More Read Less

This drug works well for me in combination with Citalopram. Don't expect the instant fix as this drug works over time. There is no need to worry about that terrible benzodiazapine addiction. My dosage insructions are irrelevant. I suggest it be taken exactly as directed.

I have been on buspirone for about 7 years and it was very effective up until about a year ago. I still experience the "nerve shock" feeling about 15 minutes after taking it, but it lasts only about 5 minutes (it feels like little electrical shocks throughout your body). I would sleep well on this drug. However, I started at 5 mg 2x a day..but eventually had to increase to 15 mg 3x a day as my anxiety gradually returned. Now my anxiety/panic is full blown again and that is with 45 mg a day on this drug. My doctor is switching me to Prozac but will wean me off of buspirone after about 6 weeks. My advice, give this drug about 3 weeks before you make your judgement on it, I believe it will help a lot of anxiety/panic sufferers. But if you do not feel better after a few weeks, change to something else. For anyone worried about weight gain, I did not experience any weight gain on this drug as I did with others in the past.Read More Read Less
