I have been taking this medication for almost 8 years for anxiety issues. It has been extremely helpful for me. Very recently I was experiencing a bit of anxiety for the first time in many years, so my dosage was increased from 7.5 mg 2X/day to 10 mg 2X/day. The increased dosage has eliminated the anxiety attacks. I see that a lot of people review this medication after only being on it for les...

Today is my first day taking this pill. I have had anxiety and depression for 5 years now. I am 17 and am praying that this works for me. I am also taking 20 mg of lexapro and my dr prescribed me 5 mg of buspar to take twice a day. I hope this helps me. The doctor had me taking 200 mg of lamactil before this and it did nothing. After reading the reviews it seems that i have about a 50/50 change of this medicine working with out having side effects.

My doc just put me on buspirone 10mg three times daily and very quickly I learned that I had to break the pills in half and only take 5mg three times a day. The first day I took it I experienced several severe panic attacks while trying to go to sleep but once I started breaking the pills in half I don't have that problem. I do get the dizziness throughout the day and found that if I take it with food I don't get the nausiated feeling as bad. Still experience the woozieness at times but overall seems to be working pretty well. Also taking Prozac 20mg.Read More Read Less

I took this drug once about 10 yrs ago and didn't have so good an experience. Hypermania and loss of appetite were the worst symptoms. I have now been taking buspirone 15mg x4 day. I have had no adverse effects but I fear that I may have to up the dosage soon.

The only thing good about this med is that it is easy to use, it's a pill! I take it for PMS which I get very bad, especially if I am not on my Lexapro. I was prescribed it to take only before my periods. I get that "shock way" feeling also and it actually scared me, I lost all the color in my face and could not even stand up. It did not help me with any of my symptoms. Thank god for Lexapro. Also, if I could do it again I would have never gotten my tubes tied because I have not been the same since!Read More Read Less

First a little history. I have been on lexapro 10mg/day for several years for Depression. Was taking xanax .5mg 3x day for anxiety and GAD. Weened off the xanax and started 10mg Buspirone 3x a day. One hour after taking the first dose I experienced a shock wave type sensation and disiness for a few minutes. The disiness comes and goes through out the day, but is not too bothersome. Over all the Buspar is working very well. It took about a week for it to take full effect. I do not get the shakes and sweats when I have to go out and do something or meet someone, now. I have been on this for a week now and hopefully the minor side effects will go away, but even if they do not, it is so much better w/o the anxiety. Wish everyone luck with their treatment.Read More Read Less

I am 36 weeks pregnant and have had troubles with Panic Attacks and Anxiety since before pregnancy. I have been on several other drugs before pregnancy and still had anxiety problems. I love this medicine. I haven't had any complaints and love the fact that it doesn't make me feel "loopy" and disfunctional.

I've been taking buspirone for 4 weeks now. At first it made me dizzy, and I stopped my morning dose. Less anxious, but still have difficulty making decisions. Depression may have lifted a little but still there. Hasn't helped my laziness. Taking with Depakote.
