I have been taking this medication for almost 8 years for anxiety issues. It has been extremely helpful for me. Very recently I was experiencing a bit of anxiety for the first time in many years, so my dosage was increased from 7.5 mg 2X/day to 10 mg 2X/day. The increased dosage has eliminated the anxiety attacks. I see that a lot of people review this medication after only being on it for les...

Worst experience ever - I didn't sleep for four days and my thoughts wouldn't stop. It was like a bad acid trip while taking too much speed. Went back to taking a low dose of xanax every week before period. I think it is ignorant and irresponsible for Drs. to prescribe such a medicine when the condition is treatable another way. I don't need my brain chemistry permanently mess up for PMDD. That Dr. was FIRED!

To more easily adapt to this medicine, my doctor started me on a low dose and is gradually increasing the dose over a period of time. I just started this medicine, so I am not qualified to rate its effectiveness. (I took one 5MG tablet over two hours ago and I feel no side effects.) I just wanted to share the way my doctor is building towards my full dose. Hopefully it will help avoid extreme side effects. During the first three days I will take 5MG in the AM and 5MG in the PM. During the second three-day period: 5MG in the AM and 10MG in the PM. During the third three-day period: 10MG in the AM and 10MG in the PM. During the fourth three-day period: 10MG in the AM and 15MG in the PM. Thereafter: 15MG in the AM and 15MG in the PM. Read More Read Less

I read other reviews and wanted to give this a try. I say RUN AWAY. I tried, really tried for 3 weeks. I was more freaked out than ever, had muscle pain, hot flashes and night sweats, crying, depression and agonizing anxiety. I was mean to everyone and hated myself. I almost started drinking again after 11 years of sobriety. I called my MD and was put back on Clonnipin (sic) and I am SO much happier.

I did not have any luck with this. I have heard it does help many people, but not me. It was like a roller coaster ride for me. The first hour after taking I would just lay on the couch, zombie like. For only a moment it would calm me and then after that it was I did not even take it. It seemed that all day long I just wanted to take more and more. It felt like I was taking medicine all day long. I was told it is not addictive, but I did have withdrawl symptoms. I was aching all over, had diarhea, and vomiting. Read More Read Less

I have been using this medication for over a year now, 20mg. In the beginning I had trouble sleeping all night and also bad stomach pains, but I knew that I would deal with it because of the results. The side effects are less offen now. My anxiety was so bad that I thought that I would suffer a heart attact one day my mine did not turn off at night. I still have the same stress with running a business, but I handle everything much better. My entirely family and business partner notice the differnce. I will proberly be on this medication for the rest of my life. Read More Read Less

I have tried both Lexapro and Paxil for my anxiety. I wish that I never would have bothered with those and been put on this from the beginning. It has been wonderful. I have suffered from generalized anxiety disorder from the age of 8 and have never had anxiety attacks so infrequently in my life. I get somewhat dizzy in the morning with my first dose, but that is is for side effects. It really has been a godsend for me.

Proir to this drug I was on paxil for a year, and I switched to buspirone 3 days a go. I ran out of paxil and just went right to buspirone. I get dizzy, I move my head and feel like it takes a while for my brain to catch up.I also am very tired just want to sit around. I don't know what to do? I know the paxil helped with the jitters and sweating heart racing in my chest. I hope this will help soon.

Took a good two months to start working for me. the side effects were chronic, the nausea and headaches, not to mention the tiredness and fatigue. Yes the calmed my GAD (anxiety disorder) but i was on such a high dose that the weight piled on and its now extremely difficult to lose, its awful. My thyroid is now under active thanks to this certain drug and i am on meds for hypothyroidsim but the buspar are so strong that i have to be on a larger dose of my thyroid medication again and again and the weight still isnt budging even with healthy eating and excercise. My friend took them for a month and would never ever take them again, they caused weight gain and depression for her. im slowly coming off them and its really hard, they make life hard and i would advise trying something else first unless u want to end up lethargic, overweight and miserableRead More Read Less

I was going out of my mind. Depression was the least of my problems. So needless to say I had my hands full of problems. I'm on 20mg a day and I know for a fact that I could not function without this medicine!!!!

I started taking Buspirone for anxiety and didn't feel it was effective. I was taking 15mg twice a day and had to break the pills in half or else I would get dizzy, tired, and feel sick. I always took it with food to try and lessen the side effects. I still felt anxious and the medication made me shaky. Today my Dr. switched me to Effexor XR, so we will see how that goes...

Sometimes I wonder why a drug can work for 1 person and not someone else. I have been taking it for 6 months, and I think it saved my life, my b/f broke up with me, and I could not handle it. All I could think was that my life was over, I couldn't go to work all I did was cry, I lost 35lbs in 3 weeks I was going out of my mind. Doc put me on buspar and in about 4 days i was better, not all the way but 80% better, I probably would of killed myself w/o it. I just cut my dose in half to 7.5 2x a day, still doing good, hope to be off in next 6 months. Good luck, hope you all find what works for you.Read More Read Less
