My doc prescribed (10mg) this to me after not having periods off/on for over 2 yrs. It has worked great. 1st month I started 16 days after 10th pill, 2nd month 7 days later 3rd month and following months 6 days later. Not only am I now having normal cycles, I have lost weight, headaches have reduced - I feel almost normal again! The first cycle was very heavy but have gotten lighter each month...

I've been on this medication for 4 days now. My doctor prescribed it to start my periods again since my period has been absent for 4 months. I was prescribed a 10 day dose, today I am expieriencing rib pain, stomach cramps and EXTREME tiredness, also a loss of appetite. Can't wait to end this medication! I'm just hoping it brings my periods back and not too heavy.

I was prescribed Provera to jumpstart my period. It did work for me (the generic did not, for some reason). But, since I've started taking it, I have gained 7 lbs. in the last two months. I have not gained any weight in the last 8 years, and this is the only change I have made. I thought I was pregnang, but have taken several tests and that is not the case. Has this happened to anyone else? I'm hoping it's water weight and will go away, but it hasn't happened yet.

I have always had abnormal periods, often going months without one. Last year, I began bleeding, and it became very heavy. After almost 4 months of bleeding, I became anemic. I went to a new doctor who put me through a procedure where he scraped all the lining from my uterus to stop the bleeding. The biopsy was negative, and he put me on MedroxyProgesterone, 10 days a month. Since I've been on it, I've been having normal periods for the first time ever. This drug has truly saved my life.

I haven't had my period for seven months...last time this happened years ago, I took prometrium and had no problem. I actually asked my new doctor (I moved to a different location) for prometrium, and she gave me provera instead saying, "oh, it's the same thing." It is not the same thing! I am miserable with severe migraines, itchy skin, dizziness, irritability, and depression...and I've never been depressed before. I'm also now starting to get acne. I took the pill for ten days and stopped. It's now five days since I stopped, and still no period. So frustrating!Read More Read Less

I had my period for a month at a time a couple different times. I had also told my Dr. that I hadn't noticed my ovulation cycle, which I have been able to feel monthly since giving birth x4. So my Dr. said my cycle was out of whack. I also had just had my paraguard IUD removed which I had for 6 yrs., because I thought it was causing my prolonged bleeding. So he gave me this medroxyprogesterone, took for ten days. Bleeding stopped after 7-9 days on the pills. Then in about 7 days I started spotting and it gradually got heavier. Today I have been soaking super plus tampons and wearing a pad besides to catch the overflow, and going thru these tampons every hour-hour and a half. I have NEVER bled like this before. I plan to call Dr. tomorrow.Read More Read Less

My husband and I were trying to get pregnant. After 9 weeks of not getting my period my dr. prescribed this. She gave me a preg test at that apointment and it was negative. I took it for the 10 days with no problems (I just needed to take it with food). I waited about a week and I still didn't get my period. I took a preg test and it was positive! I'm not sure if and or how this helped me become pregnant. I thought it was just supposed to jump-start my period. Does anyone have an answer?

I took this for 10 days back in JulyAug. I helped regulate my cylces. I was having a period every 10-14 days, now every 26 days. But now I have been feeling pregnant ever since. My husband and I are trying to have another baby with no luck after having 3 kids without problems. How long am I suppose to have the side effects after taking this drug?
