This drug did lower my cholesterol significantly; however, that has come at a cost. I finally have put two and two together to realize that this drug is likely the cause of severe weakness in my thighs and lower back/butt. I have been getting weaker and weaker over the past year or so and just could not figure out why. The weakness caused me to not be able to even do regular housework without paying for it in pain. The pain and weakness has caused me to not want to do much of anything active which has had a horribly negative impact to my life, mental and overall health. I stopped this drug by accident because the script took a long time to be filled. A few days after stopping my medication I happened to hurt my back after doing just 10 squats. It has now been about two weeks since I stopped the med and my muscle weakness in my legs is gone. My back is still sore but all of the weakness is 100% improved. I wake up feeling so much better and it doesn't hurt to walk a short distance. Over the last year I was constantly feeling so uncomfortable in my thighs, back and butt area and it made me miserable. I believe it is this drug that has taken the last year or so of my life. If you are feeling these symptoms don't dismiss them like I did. I have a habit of thinking "eh the pain will go away, just deal with it," but weakness in your legs and back is not normal and continuing this drug is only going to make the pain continue and get worse. Side effects have been debilitating. Can not function outside the home. Stopped taking it and am very slowly feeling better. It was a VERY bad choice for me. Quality of life is so important. I lost that with this medication.

Rosuvastatin 20 mg was proven to be effective by an Coronary Angiogram procedure done about two years ago. Results: coronary arteries normal. WOW ! My initial lipid profile For Total Cholesterol, Triglycerides as well as the Low Density Cholesterol numbers were off the chart. My HDL'S were below 20. I was on my way to coronary artery disease. The Rosuvastatin 20mg with a triglyceride medication changed my lipid profile to healthy values for a much lower risk to have the coronary disease. Sure enough, the angiogram validated my regimen on Rosuvastatin. Read More Read Less

I have not had any issues with this medication. I take 20 mg daily. When i was 33, June of 2020 my Total Cholesterol was 244, Triglycerides 235, LDL 154 and HDL. September 2022 my Total Cholesterol was 132, Triglycerides 146, LDL 58 and HDL 51. It did what it was supposed to do with no side effects.

First night took this medicine by 2 tablets before sleep, then midnight around 1.30am fever and diarrhea, watery. I quickly Google search this medicine and found this forum, got side effects. Very frustrated as this medicine was recommended by Pharmacist. Lesson learnt, check the medicine before buy. I won't take this medicine again

I have been statin intolerant in the past. I started taking this medication 5mg every Friday for 4 weeks. Weeks 1 & 2, no side effects. On Week 3, the day after taking it, I had horrible muscle spasms in both upper legs followed by sever cramping. Was barely able to walk the following week. After the 4th dose, my lower calve muscles became severely sore along with my knee joints and ligaments around my knees. My upper leg muscles became even more sore. My feet also swelled up and I had dark purple bruises appear on both feet and on my upper leg muscles. A week after my last dose, I began to finally feel better and was able to walk, bend over, stand and sit with minimal pain. I have had similar adverse reactions to statins in the past, but this was far worse than previous attempts to take statins. Needless to say, I will not EVER be taking this or any other statin again. The side effects are just not worth it. Read More Read Less

I was taking 10 mg and seemed to tolerate it. I had nausea occasionally but I did not identify it with the rosuvastatin. My doctor suggested that I take 20 mg to reduce the LDLs further. Within a month I had gastric pains and constant nausea, consistent with my symptoms when I took a thyroid med that had lactose. My doctor prescribed fluvastatin, which has no pactose, and I’m fine now.

The cardiologist (Referral)knowing i am diabetic put me on Rosuvastatin 1st 5 mils then to 20. The last two months I am having pain. The doctor didn't tell me any side effects. It did drop my levels. Although my cholesterol is borderline high and I have low triglycerides before the statin. This drug can cause peripheral neuropathy. Make sure to ask questions don't just take things. I feel the doctor could have used a milder statin. I went from active to extremely achey and not so active and its been only five months. Do your research Read More Read Less

After going from 20 mg to 40 mg I have pain in my elbows and it is difficult to lift or even close my hands to make a fist especially if my arms are extended down. My legs began to hurt more and I felt tired all the time. I stopped taking the drug. Pain is less now and believing all the pain will disappear.

I took Rosuvastatin Calcium tabs, 20 mg. They did bring my cholesterol down by 40 pts and my cardiologist was pleased. I was in pain with muscle and joint aches every day and worse at night. I was getting painful muscle spasms across upper chest area. I had a similar reaction to taking Zocor (simvastatin) in past.

I am a female in her early 50s. Heart disease runs in family and cholesterol was getting high plus LDL too high. I was put on 5mg 1x/day. In two months all of my numbers are in half. Cholesterol/triglycerides/LDL. Amazing. I am a bit tired and have a little joint pain but not 100% sure I can attribute it to this med. I’m going to ask my doc if he thinks it would still work at half that dose (cut in half) for even less side effect.

Resouvastation has worked GREAT for me, but you do need to take CO Q 10, or you WILL have muscle pain like a myalgia.
