Went for an eye exam and Dr recommended this for dry eye I didn't know I had. Been using for 2 weeks and I've been miserable with blurry, watery, grainy and itchy eyes! Realized it could be the Systane Ultra so I'm stopping right now!

Used these eye drops for a little while. All of a sudden it started to make my eyes worse. Quit using it and eyes are okay.

I read a magazine article that said the sometimes people are farsighted because their eyes are just dry from computer use so I bought some last week. Today I noticed my eyes were slightly red so I decided to try the Systane Lubricant Eye Drops, in Preservative Free Vials. I put 2 drops in each eye. Initially my eyes stung and my vision became noticeably blurry. Throughout the day, my eyes continued to sting and water, and so did my nose. Most of my activity had not been distance vision during the day, but when I did look at things in the distance, both eyes were very blurry. I had Lasik surgery 15 years ago and have had 20/15 distance vision ever since so this was very frightening. After the Lasik surgery I had sterile eye drops in vials that I had no problem with. Systane was the only brand with sterile vials at the store, but I don't know if this is what I used before. Now I am reading the ingredient list and it says it may contain hydrochloric acid and/or sodium hydroxide to adjust the pH. Well that would certainly explain it. Or it could be that Propylene Glycol is actually a preservative and an eye and upper respiratory system irritant. By the way webmd, requiring people with blurry vision to read the letters on your cloudy picture when commenting on eye issues is probably not the best idea. On the other hand thank you for letting me vent as well as realize this is most likely a temporary issue. Read More Read Less

My eye doctor gave me a sample of this while I was in for an eye exam and he raved about how effective it was. Within a minute of putting the drop in my eye, my eye began watering non-stop, started itching, and has been giving me fits all day! I will never put it in my eye again. I've been miserable.

I experienced a severe allergic reaction that ended when diagnosed in the Emergency Department. It looks as if my eyes were attacked by stinging bees! My vision is blurry; my eyes are sore, itchy, and feel gritty and dry. My eyelids are so swollen that I can barely recognize myself. Do not risk your eye health with this product. Find an alternative.

After using Systane for 6 wks. my eyes seem no better than before. My eyes CONSTANTLY tear so badly I have been unable to drive and have actually walked into things. My doctor said to apply warm wash clothes to my eyes several times a day, and it helps for a brief time only. Is this a side effect of the medication? What have I been doing wrong?

since using this nighttime lubricant ( 1.5 months)I have been having blurred vision and dizziness. It is only today that I thought it might be the systane causing this. Is this possible? I am not taking any medication.

This product has ended my itching, red glassy eye problem. I've tried less expensive products but nothing compares.

diagnosed incorrectly for conjunctivitis, then told it was Uvetis and then told it was really Iritis and now I'm informed it is blepharitis. Very concerned over these different diagnoses over these past 6 months, especially since the opthamologist is highly qualified and "into" medicine. Took various prescribed medicines. Sought second opinions knowing my MD was a highly qualified, very steady opthamologist of 25+ years in practice. One of the "second opinion" MD gave me a sample product of Systane to use, no doubt left by a detail person for the MD to give to his patients. I found that Systane definitely dealt with the cause of the eyes feeling "uncomfortable", for lack of a better word. Bottom line: Systance served to give the sensing eyes were "normal". Actually, only one eye was affected but the other eye began to evidence some effect (although absolutely rigid in not touching either eye except with water, proscribed medicines and warm compresses (with a touch of baby shampoo to daily clear blepharitis after its diagnosis -- no compressed used before that. I'm am not taking Systane regularly. I take it only when either or both eyes give me a sensing of being, let's say, stressed. Only used it during the Uvetis and Iritis conditioned times and then 2-3 times over a two month timespan. If it were an OTC product, I might use it daily but I don't know if it is an OTC product and I would first inquire as to the advisability of using it daily before doing so. Yes, I'm a cautious patient but do my best to be an educated patient. Hope this is helpful.Read More Read Less
