Hello, I have been using Synthroid for over ten years and find it the best to use. I have never had my dose increased as I follow the SPECIFIC directions for use. Take it at the same time every day (for me, 5 A.M.!)and on an empty stomach--for one hour. I have found, my morning coffee is fine with no cream, or half and half ; a food. I tried the generic form and it did not have the same affect...

This was the worst drug I have ever taken. The first dose I had a major headache, I assumed it was a simple side effect and would pass on. The second dose of this medicine I had gas and burbs that smelled of sulfur, then the chills, fever, and vomiting hit. But worst of all I had liquid diarrhea for 24 hours solid. It took me 3 days to fully recover from taking this medicine.

I am taking 450 mg of this and have been on this dosage for over 6 months - it has not improved my well being. It has marginally brought my number from 117 to 25...yes it should be under 3-5.

I have steadily gained weight since the removal of my thyroid. The Doctor tells me this is more to do with menopause than my thyroid but I am a healthy eater and exercise regularly so should not have gained as much as I have. I have all the symptoms of Hypothyroidism but I am told I may have to live with them because of the risk of osteoporosis. This is crap, there has to be something better.

my underactive thyroid was found by an attentive m.d. I was experiencing profound fatigue which improved dramatically within 0ne week. Have been on for 5 yrs, no adjustments needed. I did have a minor issue with dry skin and brittle hair, but unfortunately was dealing with menopause at the same time and it is difficult to differentiate the symptoms. I do ocassionally experience restlessness when i am exhausted, again not sure which scenario to blame it on. Overall, happy these are minor complaints compared to some i have readRead More Read Less

I had a thyroidectomy due to large nodules and eventual cancer. Started out on 100mcg had some anxiety at first, then subsided. I have a wonderful increase in energy, concentration, overall sense of well-being. I have one complaint, I am disabled due to snowmobile accident and suffer from extreme back pain. I am on high doses of narcotic pain meds. I just had my surgery in December 2013 and I have begun to experience extreme pain in my shoulders, back, hands, legs, arms and all over? Other than that, I feel great!? Read More Read Less

I didn't realize this was caused by the medication until I switched. I felt like I had problems being present in life, ie conversations with people. I felt like I was behind a 6 in thick pc of glass trying to communicate with people.

T4 ruined my life. I was on it for 26 years. I got better when I found a doctor to prescribe Armour Thyroid.

I cannot use Synthroid .137 as it gives me hair loss, weight loss, mood swings, swelling of feet. I am constantly told that the generic levothyroxine is identical, the one that works for me at .137 and that Synthroid should not be a problem. When I am on levothyroxine, I do not have the above symptoms. I am on a government mail order insurance plan and the gov't pharmacy is constantly changing from L-thyroxine, Synthroid and levothoxine plus using various manufacturers. Within days of starting the Synthroid (brand name), I get the unwanted symptons but the pharmacy won't honor the doctor's request for levothyroxine by the same manufacturer. My doctor has suggested getting the drug from a brick/mortar pharmacy that will give me that assurance. That is what I plan to do.Read More Read Less
