Hello, I have been using Synthroid for over ten years and find it the best to use. I have never had my dose increased as I follow the SPECIFIC directions for use. Take it at the same time every day (for me, 5 A.M.!)and on an empty stomach--for one hour. I have found, my morning coffee is fine with no cream, or half and half ; a food. I tried the generic form and it did not have the same affect...

I found out I was hypothyroid 4 years ago. The Dr. started my synthroid dosage low and raised it slowly over 2 years. Two years later I needed an increase again. It works for me as long as the dosage is correct. This is a slow time released drug. It needs time to work. I've also learned that weight loss is possible but harder which means I have to work harder and eat right. I know my body after all these years and pay attention to it. As my thyroid gets worse, I need a higher dosage. That's the way it works. I also pay attention to the directions. Empty stomach, no dairy, no iron for up to 4 hours.Read More Read Less

I have only been taking this for 10 weeks. At first it was great, I was having terrible pains in my stomach and if I ate they got worse, I can eat now with out any trouble. My legs started to hurt after about a week and just got worse. If I could find something to take the pain away that would be great. However, I found that I can't take my lexapro, I get headaches.

I've been on thyroid meds for over 10 years. I've tried the generic and it doesn't work, tried the natural hormone and it was difficult for me to take it twice in one day, and I've been on brand name synthroid and I've had to have it upped a couple times (just had it checked again yesterday...if it comes back still not at the right level, I may just try the natural hormone again).

My thyroid completely stopped functioning. I have been taking this medication for over 12 years. It is a lifesaver! I still cope with aspects of my condition, but I am glad I have this medication in my arsenal!
