Hello, I have been using Synthroid for over ten years and find it the best to use. I have never had my dose increased as I follow the SPECIFIC directions for use. Take it at the same time every day (for me, 5 A.M.!)and on an empty stomach--for one hour. I have found, my morning coffee is fine with no cream, or half and half ; a food. I tried the generic form and it did not have the same affect...

My body took a while getting used to this medicine, but i know i need to take it. as of now, I am at 125mcg. I pray every day for Jesus to heal me, I know he will. Before the treatment I was so very tired, could cry at the drop of a hat, didn't want to deal with anything that required thought or action, was depressed, no energy, and my husband thought I had just became plain lazy. I have been on the medicine for 5 years with dosages being increased 3 times and it has definatly changed my whole being. I give it a super A+. My husband felt terrible when the actual problem was diagnosed.

I have been on this medication for over 20 years. No problems. My last refill was replaced with a generic. I am concerned that this may not be the same. Am I correct in questioning this?

I have not had significant benfits from taking this durg. I'm still gaining weight, I"m still tired, irritable. I honestly do see the point of it. It's done nothing to help me. I've stopped taking it a few days sgo.

I was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism and Graves about a year and a half ago. Things had gotten so bad that I couldn't get through the day without sweating excessively, havings bouts of angina, high blood pressure and being VERY depressed. After seeing half a dozen doctors my cardiologist ordered bloodwork and found that I was hyperthyroid and sent me to an Edocrinologist at the Baylor Clinic in Houston. We tried to control my disease with medication but that didn't help very much so I took my iodine pill and the thyroid was killed and I now take synthroid daily. The changes in my life have been amazing. I no longer have to take B.P. meds, female hormone replacement,no sleep meds it has been awesome. We still have to make adjustments in the amount of synthriod I take but the Doctors at Baylor tell me that we need to make these adjustments slowly so I don't end up Hyper again. I will have to take some type of medicine for the rest of my life but at least now I have a life compared to where I was a little over a year ago. The changes have been many and I feel soooo much better. The only thing I don't like is that I have gained weight but the docs say that will stop when we get the right dosage of meds. I just have to be patient. Don't get discouraged or frustrated cause things will get better as long as you and your doc talk. Read More Read Less

Over a year ago I was diagnosed with Graves Disease; when the medicine won't work, my overactive thyroid was removed. At that time, cancer was found. I have been on synthroid for almost two months. Despite the side effects (joint and back pain, stomach issues and weight gain), I feel much better. My advice, be patient with the medicine and the doctors-it takes time.

I have graves disease. The hyperthroidism was diagnosed in 2/08. I couldn't take tapazole because it froze my joints. Took the radio-iodine pill on 5/09/08. My thyroid has quit working completly as of 7/08. My eyes swelled shut, puffy face cold skin. Started sythyroid on 7/16/08,100mg. today on 7/23/08 is the first day I can actually open my eyes, just a slight headache. Have a little more energy. I have high hopes for this medication.

I'm up to 200mcg daily, gaining weight, still tired and muscle aches are worse than before synthroid. My doctor says there is some other problem other than htpothyroidism. I think she's full of it. I asked her why my symptoms are worse than before I startedtaking synthroid. She said it's just a coincidence.

I started taking this medication about a month ago. I feel way more tired than before, and with me, I can't gain weight, but I have seen an improvement with that. When they called to tell me about my test results they were not really clear on anything, they told me to just take it in the morning. I had questions but they didn't really know. I am taking half a pill everyday, and I am starting to wonder if I should have taken it at all. I usually want to sleep all day now, and do not have an ounce of energy. Read More Read Less

Being a 32 year old my DR almost fell out of his chair when he got my lab tests back.... A non working Thyroid and a Testosterone level of 180! (normal for my age 500-900) Going on my first month of Androgel (Gel Tesosterone)and Synthroid have to say I have not felt this good in 10+ years. From my moods to workouts all the way to my sex life. Not sure what one is helping more but the combo did the trick.

I went to the doctors to have my yearly physical. I been feeling very tired, never sleeping and haven't been able to loose weight even though I work out all the time. I had a blood test and I was told that I have a underactive thyroid. I was put on the Generic brand of Synthroid. I been on it for almost 4 months now. I was told by my doctor that I would probaly loose the weight, sleep better and not feel tired all the time. I haven't seen a bit of difference!!! A friend told me that I should go on Synthroid because the generic brand wasn't that effective. My doctor told me this wasn't true. I'm just wondering if I should have ever started on this medication that I have to be on for the rest of my life!!! Nothing has changed. Read More Read Less

I have been on Synthroid for about 8 years. I tried the generic, but it didn't work for me. My TSH levels have always been low, but my T3 & T4 have been right on. The doctor has tried to lower my dose to bring the TSH down, but had to fight to keep it where it was. Finally found a doctor that said as long as I feel good and my T3 & T4 are where they should be, then it is OK. Don't let your doctor convince you to lower your dose, just because your TSH is low. Stay on a dose that allows you to function. Only you know how what makes you feel good.Read More Read Less
