Hello, I have been using Synthroid for over ten years and find it the best to use. I have never had my dose increased as I follow the SPECIFIC directions for use. Take it at the same time every day (for me, 5 A.M.!)and on an empty stomach--for one hour. I have found, my morning coffee is fine with no cream, or half and half ; a food. I tried the generic form and it did not have the same affect...

I have been on this medication for 2 years and weigh 15 pounds more than when I started and seem to have less energy. I still have dry skin and hair. Nothing has improved and it is impossible to lose an ounce. Diet and exercise doesn't seem to do it anymore. I think low thyroid must be normal for me and I haven't taken a pill for 2 days.

I had 3/4% of my thyroid removed appx 2 yrs ago after I developed a large node on my thyroid gland. I started to gain wt afterwards at a rate of 3 lbs per month. My dr. decreased my dosage to 112 MCG. I have seen Endo and since my THS is good he did not change my dosage. I have started exercising 4 times a week to keep my HBP and Type2 diabetes under control. My weight has not changed.

I had half my thyroid removed in Nov. 2003 due to a large, growing nodule. I have been on Synthroid since Jan. 2003 when the nodule was first discovered. I had been taken Synthroid for a couple of years when my pharmacy switched me to the generic version. Within a few days I felt exhausted, cold and depressed. I called my doctor and he said the generic sometimes doesn't work so he switched it back to Synthroid. I felt better after a few days. You can tell if your dosage of Synthroid is too high quite easily: you get jittery, hot, sweaty, and can't sleep. This happened when my doc raised my dose to 150 mcg just before my surgery. I am currently at 100 mcg which keeps my TSH level at about .2. I have blood tests every six months to monitor my TSH levels.Read More Read Less

My doctor is happy with my result. I don't like the take it every morning before my breakfast and coffee lover. But only the doctor know best. Other than that I feel great during the day, not tired when i get to work ing the morning.

Once I was diagnosed, my dr. started me out at 150 mcg. I lost 40 lbs in 6 months, felt a lot better and had much more energy. Like my old self. We just moved to a new area and I have a new dr. She upped my dosage from 100 mcg to 125 mcg. Within a month I can' eat, it makes me sick! My throat hurts all the time and I feel like I have a big lump in the pit of my stomach all the time! I want my old dosage back!!!!!

Severe episodes of body pain, sweating, frequent awakening at night, unexpected need to sleep (after taking the medication), sharp knee pains, brain fog, lethargy, loss of strength, 40 pound weight gain in a year. Have had many tests which find no other cause and no return of cancer. Before taking this medication, I walked or swam almost every day, hiked and climbed several miles, ran a small farm, and in general had a busy and fulfilling life. Now I have no energy and have trouble even walking around the block. My TSH is below 1 so I do not need more synthroid. It is the synthroid that is causing the symptoms.Read More Read Less

I have been diagnosed for about a year. It has been a very frustrating process to get my levels back to normal. But I am feel a lot better with lots of energy. My doctor thought I was anemic but it was due to the lack of energy from an under performing thyroid. Synthoid brand really has workded for me

I was diagnosed with Graves Disease in 1995. Had thyroid removed in 1999 because I had to switch meds when I got pregnant and they didn't work. I have been on .175mcg Synthroid since with good results. About 6 mths ago I switched to the Generic (Levothyroxine) and have had nothing but problems. Excessive sweating, anxiety, massive panic attacks, weight gain, swelling, a lot of hair loss and I have no energy at all. It's hard to get out of bed each morning. The generic spiked my levels and my doc keeps lowering my dosage. Hopefully the switch back to Synthroid will alleviate the problems I am currently having. I would not recommend using the generic if you don't have to. Read More Read Less

I had my thyroid removed a year ago and have been on synthroid since, I have changed it many times...Now with 125mcg I'm still to tired, depressed, pains, etc. and with 137mcg and feel great! But I started getting a little jittery and heart beating a little fast and just wondering if I could alternate between the 2 doses to balance out? Higher dose if definitely better, at least I'm not depressed anymore...Doctors are no help, you have to figure it out yourself because everyone is different and only you no how you feel! The weight doesn't go away...Read More Read Less
