Hello, I have been using Synthroid for over ten years and find it the best to use. I have never had my dose increased as I follow the SPECIFIC directions for use. Take it at the same time every day (for me, 5 A.M.!)and on an empty stomach--for one hour. I have found, my morning coffee is fine with no cream, or half and half ; a food. I tried the generic form and it did not have the same affect...

I was recently diagnosed with hypothyrodism 2 months ago. My doctor put me on Synthroid and I have noticed wonderful changes!! This has been a miracle medication for me!! I am no longer wishing I was asleep every minute of the day, and my hair is no longer falling out as much. I have more energy then I can remember and have actually been able to lose 3 pounds so far!!

I was on the generic brand but it didn't work for me. I tried the synthroid, and I was more tired, more irritable. I couldn't function at all. I am now off it because it's only slighlty elevated. My doctor said eventually I woul dhave to back on it. The weight gain is killing me and my leg cramps are horrible. I wish they would come out with something better. It's very hard living like this.

When I was on this drug I experienced a lot of problems. First of all, I'm an active teenager and having to wait to eat wasn't anything that I wanted to do. I also felt depressed and still had a lack of energy. I don't feel myself when I'm on this drug. I would do anything to not have thyroid problems. =[

I had hypothyroidism since i was 12 yrs.old, i am now 32. Synthroid is all i had taken up until 2 years ago, i started taking cytomel with the synthroid. All of you saying synthroid does not work you may need to take cytomel also. Our body needs T3 and T4, synthroid is only made up of T4 not everyone's body converts T3 into T4 that is what cytomel is T4. I cannot tell you how much better i feel, i always never felt right on synthroid but the doctor would tell me my numbers were where they needed to be. Finding the right doctor is ESSENTIAL. I have never felt good since I've been on this medication. I am always tired and now overweight. I have complained to doctors and nobody listens. I have friends and relatives saying the same things. Why doesn't somebody really find out the truth about this product and the thyroid problems and try to help once and for all.

In the 50's I was treated with radiation for illness (phenmonia) at the hospital when I was a small child, however, later they stopped the use of radiation (involving the throid glands) as treatment for illness, which later they discovered it affects the throid glands. I went to an Endodrinologist in the 70's for five years (horrible)- On and then off of medicine for thyroid (At end, he said I was OK). The medicine made me feel sick to my stomach. Then when I reached 48 and was tested by my family physician I was put on synthroid and increase the dosage over time to generic. For ten years I have taken this drug. Results: I developed hypertension, leg and muscle pain/aches, weight gain, trouble sleeping at night after working all day, headaches, my energy never came back, trouble sometimes with breathing and feeling like a frog is in my throat, sluggish, anxiety attacks (feels like a heart attack), uncontrollable diareha at times, not the say the mid-life issues I have faced and I never felt good on this drug - Synthroid. Expensive out-of-pocket even with insurance ($500 deductible) for doctor's visit, test and drug - synthroid (after years, then went to generic and had to increase the dosage). You always want to trust the doctor's help and believe in them to stay well, but I have seen no prevention. Still too many questions in my mind. Not satisfied, yet, after all these years. I have Hashimoto's for 5yrs. My synthroid levels have been increased to 400mg per day. I still am tired, moody, muscle aches, joints ache, dry skin, hair falls out. Dr says bloodwork comes back fine. Symptoms are unbearable. No relief in site.

It took a while to get to the exact right dosage but it was worth it. I got a lot of relief from my symptoms - extreme fatigue, skin dryness, hair loss.

I have been taking this drug for about 4 weeks. I will have my thyroid performance checked around January to see how effective it is. 50 MCG. I decided to take the drug when I get up early in the morning to go to the bathroom then I do not have to wait for the coffee and toast when I get up for the day. I think this works best for me. My muscle and joint aches have subsided. No real weight loss yet but I am hopeful.

I had my thyroid removed in 2007 due to thyroid cancer and have had my dosage changed numerous times. I am currently taking 500mcg and have many aches and pains but this is the dosage that keeps my TSH on the right level.

I had hyperthyroidism. So I took a radioactive pill that got rid of my thyroid. I've been taking this med. since then. It took a good year to get it to the right dosage.
