Hello, I have been using Synthroid for over ten years and find it the best to use. I have never had my dose increased as I follow the SPECIFIC directions for use. Take it at the same time every day (for me, 5 A.M.!)and on an empty stomach--for one hour. I have found, my morning coffee is fine with no cream, or half and half ; a food. I tried the generic form and it did not have the same affect...

Have been on Synthroid for years but prescription level changes every so often due to blood tests (less dosages). My GP says all is fine with the bloods tests, but I'm always cold "to the core" especially my fingers and toes. My hair and nails are dull and brittle, sex drive is nill and I just feel yuk and I've gained 20 lbs in the past year! My GP says since the blood tests are fine that's all that counts.

It took over a year for the endocrinologist to prescribe synthroid. After only 4 doses I felt an increase in energy. I was no longer feeling totally drained and fatigued. I would love to see some of the weight drop but that has yet to happen.

This medication did not work for me. I had horrible brain fog, anger, mood swings, weight gain, itching. Now taking Armour, brain fog gone, no anger, mood swings gone, lost all but 10 pounds of weight. No side effects except that I have my life back.

I have only been on Synthroid for about 1 week and only at 25 mg, but since then have been nauseous, have indigestion, lightheaded and dry mouth. Is this normal for anyone else??

I have been taking Levothyroxine for over 2 years now, and just recently started taking Synthroid 75 mgs after finding out I had been given the generic form of my Levothyroxine which had devastating effects, my doctor informed me I could not take the generic, I only recently started the Synthroid, but already feel better, I hope it works

I have used three medications for my Thyroid; Synthroid, Cytomel, and Armour. Cytomel was effective, but could not tolerate the ever-present headache it caused. Synthroid caused moderate to severe evening stomach upset including occasional vomiting. Currently on Armour, almost one month, no side effects, no positive effects--wasted money--still searching for the right fix.

I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's Disease in June of '03 along with Hypothyroidism. My DR started me on 100mcg of Levothroid. For the following year, I had excellent results. I had lost 30-40lbs, i was active as school again, i wasn't cold anymore, it was grrreat. Then, suddenly, my levels fell and my doc switched me to synthroid and up the 150mcg. from there, i have been anywhere from 50-300mcg. I have tried ALL sorts of different methods of taking the meds. the side effects are horrible. Extreme weight gain - about 80lbs, terrible headaches, leg cramps, depression, lethargy, swelling in legs and feet, hair loss, irregular mensies, night sweats, loss of strength, decreased memory, unexplained body pains, etc. lol, it has been a HUGE mess and almost 5 years later, none of my doctors can figure it out. My doctors won't switch me off of synthroid, but aren't suggesting any new ideas either. they don't seem to think that there is anything wrong with going back and forth with the meds for the rest of my life! :( oh dear. Things are only getting worse, and an 18-year-old female, that's NOT the kinda thing i wanna hear while i'm beginning my life as an individual. Read More Read Less
