Hello, I have been using Synthroid for over ten years and find it the best to use. I have never had my dose increased as I follow the SPECIFIC directions for use. Take it at the same time every day (for me, 5 A.M.!)and on an empty stomach--for one hour. I have found, my morning coffee is fine with no cream, or half and half ; a food. I tried the generic form and it did not have the same affect...

My thyroid was removed due to thyroid cancer 12 years ago and I have been taking synthroid ever since. It works really well, and I have had no side effects. Two words of caution - don't skip taking it and be careful about taking the generic.

I have been on Levothyroxin 50MCG since Sept. and have been having nausea, chest pain, shortness of breath and loss of weight. Have been tested: upper GI, Colonoscopy, Stress test and heart moniter. Nothing show up. My throid is on target.

I had my thyroid gland removed 35 years ago and have been using sythroid ever since. There have been no problems. Although I have gained some weight since the dose was reduced 9 year ago. Now i'm eating less and my weight is going back down. It's a great drug!

I have been taking Synthroid for 10 months. I feel SO much better! I have lost 10lbs, have a lot more energy, no more constipation & I am finally beginning to feel "normal" again. My doctor recently increased my dose & I can feel my body trying to adjust but overall I am very happy with my choice to take Synthroid. I am 26 years old, female, family history of both hyper and hypothyroidism. My TSH was around 16 when I started the medication, I am already down to 8.

I am so frustrated, for the last 3 years I have been telling my Dr something is wrong, I'm HOT all the time, I am gaining weight, I'm 50 pounds heavier today and I want to see a specialist. Finally she ran all the tests for thyroid and I was a little low, well a little for me was a lot. A few days after taking synthroid my body temperature came down some, I haven't lost weight yet, but my HAIR, it's almost gone. I called the Dr and she switched me to Armour, well I still lost hair and my body temperature came up. I have to say that I find myself having a little more energy, but when I look at my hair in the mirror what energy I found, is lost in what I see. I'm not vain, but all my life my hair was the only thing I thought was my best feature. I hated having to get it cut. I went back to my Dr and she said well you can stop taking it till you see the specialist and I said I can't go another summer so hot that I walk around with an ice pack on my lap. I'm frustated, when will this hair lost stop? Will my hair grow back? I suffer from fibromyalgia, I have severe headaches daily, now this. Life shouldn't be like this.Read More Read Less

I've been taking synthroid for 5 yrs.My first piece of advice, is you need to see an ENDOCRINOLOGIST no offense but regualar doctors don't know how to treat thyroid problem. I started taking 25mcgs 5 yrs ago, I am now at 200 mcgs and I finally feel like I'm back to normal. My depression is gone and so is the dry skin, hair falling, hot & cold flashes, lack of sexual drive, mood swings, memory loss, eye sight problems, weight gain. I've lost 50lbs. You need to get your dosage increased wait 8 wks have your blood drawn check your thyroid levels and increase the dosage. continue this until you feel your symptoms disappearing. It took me 5 yrs. and alot of learning and asking questions. Hope this helps. Read More Read Less

I was put on Synthroid when my doctor noticed my TSH was high after a routine physical. Before he prescribed it, he sent me for a thyroid scan and uptake. I have just had my dosage raised to 88mcg and I am shocked at the similarites of some of the other people taking this drug. I too am experiencing a brain fog, inability to concentrate, always cold, fatigue ALL the time, lack of sex drive...you name it. I fall asleep at traffic lights, at my desk at work...I have still managed to lose 50 pounds in the last 18 months and I work out 1.5 to 2 hours every day. I have hit a brick wall though and haven't lost any weight in a couple of months. As hard as I work, I should be a bodybuilder by now! I have not experienced muscle or joint aches but I'm now worried about my bones since my mom has osteoporosis and I was unaware Synthroid could deplete your calcium. Now I'm seriously contemplating calling my doctor and demanding to know what the REAL deal is.Read More Read Less

I've been taking 0.15 mg of synthroid for thirty years. My doctor says my th is high which means I must cut back on the amount of synthroid I take. Is this correct?

I have had great experience with taking Synthroid. The only thing that concerns me now is what it is doing to my bones. I was told that it depleted the cal in your bones. My hand and feet and joints hurt so bad lately. I would like to take a more natural suppliment but don't know which one is safe.

I have had my thyroid removed, the right side when I was 12 and the left side a year ago at age 35. I have been on synthroid for the last year. I have never weighed more than 125 at 5'7 usually around 115 120, I weigh almost 160 now, my appetite has increased, I am moody and find that sometimes I just can't concentrate or fall asleep at my desk. My dosage has been changed a couple times but I just don't like this drug. The weight gain is the hardest part I have never had a problem until now. Want to try something else.Read More Read Less

I have only been on this med. for a few days. Reading all the sides effects from everyone here makes me not want to take this. Already have a weight problem don't need more if this is what it does.

I have a severe case of CRS - can't remember "stuff". TSH was well over 15 and dosage and retesting has brought me to TSH of 5.7 with 125mcg. Still feel like crap - fatigue, brain fog, memory loss, depressed, dry, cold, etc. Doc's are clueless, searching for other options..
