Hello, I have been using Synthroid for over ten years and find it the best to use. I have never had my dose increased as I follow the SPECIFIC directions for use. Take it at the same time every day (for me, 5 A.M.!)and on an empty stomach--for one hour. I have found, my morning coffee is fine with no cream, or half and half ; a food. I tried the generic form and it did not have the same affect...

Been on Synthroid for more than 10 years...It never changed a thing...Still no energy, overweight, thin hair, and feel like crap all the time...The Dr. smiles and says I am just fine!

After a few months on Synthroid, I hadn't noticed any improvement & Doc said (and continues to say) give it time...it will improve. It's now 9+ years...and still waiting for improvement...and looking for new Doc.

I started with Graves disease and had radiation therapy to kill it, so now i rely on this for any thyroid function. I was diagnosed and treated when i was 18, so i have been on it for 13 years. It worked really well for a long time, i was consistently on 150 mcg, but for some reason in the last 2 years it has kinda gone crazy. Long story short, I am currently on 300 mcg and hoping it will level out soon

I've only been on this for a few weeks, but I definitely noticed a difference in what my symptoms were that made go and get my thyroid checked. Hopefully as my body adjusts I'll start to feel better overall

I have been on this medication(.125mcg) for a lot of years, but, over the past few years my dose was lowered to .112mcg. I began to develop high BP, eye problems, sleep issues, stomach issues and a host of other problems. I ran out of the medication a couple days ago and have not refilled it and now two days off of it and i feel really good and checked my BP and it has dropped significantly. My eyes feel and look better and I am not feeling lethargic and woozy like i have been feeling. I am not sure this medication has been doing me right for a rather long time.Read More Read Less

I have been using synthroid since 1997. I take 250 mcg/day. I have steadily gained weight (a lot) since my surgery, and the doctor blames me, but I eat well. I often feel tired and foggy. Don't have a great deal of energy. I can't complain too much... Without it I would not be here. My internal med doctor switched me to generic several years ago. I'm not sure that it does as well as synthroid.

Im an older female. I've been on synthroid for 8 months. I am very glad to have it. My experience is... For the first 3-4 months, I had to take it at bedtime. When I took it during the day, soon after ingesting, I was lethargic, fuzzy, the opposite of what I was expecting. After reading others reviews, I decided to take it at night. Still didn't have relief from depression, BUT my blood pressure went down, and I lost some weight. Yeah! I now take it during the day, takes about 15 min to work, I have energy, some depression relief, as well as blood pressure and weight loss benefits. My advise? Dont give up on it, try taking it at different times of day.. It took a pretty long time to get big benefits. Very glad I stuck with it.. Read More Read Less

Muffins mama, 65-74 Female on Treatment for 1 to less than 2 years! Get the name brand of levithyroxin! I had exact same issues with hair loss and other side effects! My Dr. Gave me brand necessary which is Synthyroid! I was diagnosed with Graves disease and had a complete thyroidectomy in 2008 and it has been a long. Tiresome and depressing road having to be tested every 3 months I am now on 200 mcg grams now, and to top it off my 17 yr old was just diagnosed too! But enough of my sob story just wanted to tell any and every one on levithyroxin to have their Dr. Switch them to name brand it will make a world of difference, it has for me. That and prayer!!! Lots and lots of love and prayer! Read More Read Less

I am taking a low dose of 50mcg. I took Eltroxin for 5 years and kept feeling uncomfortable, sleep problems, nervousness etc. Since I started Synthroid, 5 years, I have not had any issues.

This medication is better than taking nothing but,, not totally satisfied with it either. I just feel ok but not great. Does not matter if I'm on the low end or high end of TSH levels either. There is just no happy medium or sweet point either. I have found that I am low on Vit D3 and iron now too. Never had an issue with this before being diagnose with Hypothyrodism. Finding more people that are on Synthroid that are falling into this the longer they are on it. Don't know if this is due to the disease or the medication. I started have problems about three years into taking the medication. The med does deplete more calcium in the bone's and you have to follow the medical suggestion and not eat or take any Vit's with in the hours specified. I take my vit's at night before I go to bed. I'm thinking of switching to Armour Thyroid. Also,(FYI) the Thyriod starts to atrophy with the more hormone replacement you take. Suck...the little bit that did work now doesn't ugg..YA!!!Read More Read Less

Since beginning this treatment, I have been plagued with a series of extremely painful tongue sores! It was supposed to make me feel less tired, but I am as tired as ever. Some mornings I lay awake in bed trying to think of a reason to get up in the morning. I have also experienced excessive weight gain. That wasn't supposed to happen, but considering how tired I am all the time, it is not surprising.

I lost 60lbs. via diet and exercise and went from morbidly obese to the upper range of normal weight. My doctor was not satisfied until she found something wrong with me by testing for anemia, thyroid, etc. Once I began Synthroid, I began gaining weight until I had re-gained 65+lbs. Only then did I learn soy products, almonds, green leafy vegetables all mimic signs of hypothyroidism and interact with Synthroid. The doctor isn't giving me the opportunity to go off the medication. Meanwhile I continue to gain weight while eating less than 1,000 calories a day. We need more information about men with hypothyroidism symptoms on this site! Weight loss is a far greater health risk than hypothyroidism, so I have resorted to my own means of losing weight without the doctor's help. Too bad I was forced into this situation.Read More Read Less
