Hello, I have been using Synthroid for over ten years and find it the best to use. I have never had my dose increased as I follow the SPECIFIC directions for use. Take it at the same time every day (for me, 5 A.M.!)and on an empty stomach--for one hour. I have found, my morning coffee is fine with no cream, or half and half ; a food. I tried the generic form and it did not have the same affect...

I started out taking Levothyroxine approximately 2 yrs ago, wasnt getting any better, my doctor checked lab levels and put me on Synthroid. Massive hair loss, weight gain, joint pain to the point I go to a chiropractor regularly now. Moodiness, extreme cold, fatigue to the point of taking energy drinks and energy supplements daily, I am considering stopping the meds altogether does anyone know anything about natural supplements? I have researched all over the web for answers. I realize the risk for goiter increases, but this is ridiculous!my aniexty has increased and so has my smoking and anger levels.Read More Read Less

When taking the generic, I was constantly hot and seating so much, my hair would get wet and I would get very faint when exercising. Totally stopped when I started taking Synthroid brand label. Insurance makes me pay full but I don't care. Have gained about 30 pounds and it won't come off no matter how much I exercise.

Had thyroid removed plus one I-131 treatment in 2008. I currently take 100mcg 5 days/week and 112mcg 2 days/week. Higher doses of levothyroxine make me jittery, sleepless, constant headache and the blood vessels in my left eye break. TSH levels at 1. One persistent side effect is a burning sensation all over my skin. All of your comments have been helpful.

I've used a thyroid since having 96% removed in 1975. My thyroid was enlarged and overactive. It has worked very well for me.

I have celiac disease and a few months after to switching to a gluten free diet, my thyroid started acting up with is a common side effect with celiac. My thyroid stabilized in Feb '10 and now it's practically June and I have gained 25 lbs. I have horrible night sweats or other times where I just start getting really warm and sometimes my heart races. If these symptoms don't stop, my doctor will put me on something else.

Using due to a mass on inflamation that came on my brain in late 89'. Have used it as a replacement drug. Have had slight weight gain due to the drug an I am still using today. The inflamation turned into vasculitis and migrated to my lower legs.

I had a total thyroidectomy, and am trying to get adapted to synthroid. It does cause a burning feeling in my stomach, like heartburn. My doctor has suggested trying brand name synthroid instead of levothyroxine to see if I tolerate it better.

i have been taking the generic brand, levothyroxine for about 3 months and find no change in the problems related to an underactive throid. is this medicine not an potent or whatever as the brand name. i have been told levothytoxine is a mad-made med. if it is supposed to be as good as the brand name, why is there a need for a generic.
