Hello, I have been using Synthroid for over ten years and find it the best to use. I have never had my dose increased as I follow the SPECIFIC directions for use. Take it at the same time every day (for me, 5 A.M.!)and on an empty stomach--for one hour. I have found, my morning coffee is fine with no cream, or half and half ; a food. I tried the generic form and it did not have the same affect...

My doctor and I tried to get the right does for a while, finally we found the right does...my tiredness, hunger and all the bad symptoms went away! Before I went on all kinds of diets, diet pills etc, and never could lose weight. once we got my dosage correct, ive lost 50 pounds in 6 months!!! I actually have energy...one day I didn't pick up my refill and missed a dose..i was so hungry all day I literally ate everything! it is definitely a wonderful medication, and i am so happy we found the correct dosage, even though it took a little over a year!Read More Read Less

I've been taking this for 2 1/2 years now and had dosage changed 4 times. Now I'm on the right dose, it's working great. The worst part is the hair loss, not sure if this is really common, even after a couple of years, but I hate that part. Other than that, it's been great. As long as I remember it every morning and take as directed it works well. I feel better, have more energy, etc. Does anyone out there know if there is a remedy to the hair loss side-effect of this? Oh yeah, I lost some weight too, but not a lot.Read More Read Less

I've been on synthroid for over 30 years. I have experienced over the years a good deal of hair loss. However, without synthroid my life is miserable. The dosage has been changed from time to time. The generic synthroid does not work for me. You must take this medication exactly as prescribed. First thing in the morning with a full glass of water and do not eat anything after taking it for at least 30 minutes. I am happy with this drug except for the severe hair loss.

I have tried the generic, but prefer the brand name in the medication. I don't think that I will ever try a generic again. ty

Been on synthroid since 1973 after thyroid removal; I had need for thyroid replacement therapy. I've used many different dosages based on different doctors evaluations. It's not a perfect drug because of it's negative inneraction and possible depletion of proper absorbtion of bone calcium. And the medicine and aging can work against your immune system; but I have to look at the quality of life I've gained by it's use for the past 37 years.

I have only been taking this for 8 days at .025 mcg but every day I have had headaches that have been the worst I've ever had. They happen within an hour after I take it and last until I go to bed. Nothing I take will make them go away. This is an awful medication.
