Hello, I have been using Synthroid for over ten years and find it the best to use. I have never had my dose increased as I follow the SPECIFIC directions for use. Take it at the same time every day (for me, 5 A.M.!)and on an empty stomach--for one hour. I have found, my morning coffee is fine with no cream, or half and half ; a food. I tried the generic form and it did not have the same affect...

I take this pill on a daily basis. Had a small issue when i was having anemia issues also because you can't take synthroid and iron together but other than that this has worked pretty good for me.

Switched to this after taking generic. Feeling a little bit better, but have extreme thirst and have to pee all the time. I dont really work out anymore because I feel like I have to much rapid heart beat. Might try and considering taking a natural route

I have been taking Synthroid for several years now and not ONCE has my TSH reading been in the range it is supposed to be in. TSH will come in very high (7-10), My T4 will often be normal. Then the opposite when they adjust the dosage (hyper). Side effects get worse over time - anxiety, panic attacks, sleeplessness. I think I am done with this stuff.

I have been taking Synthroid or Levothyroxine since my thyroidectomy, due to cancer. I have always been athletic and fit. Since going on synth, my mind feels clouded and slower, I feel as though I'm not quite myself. Sense of humor has diminished, I'm quickly irritated and not as sharp a thinker as I once was. Vision is sporadically blurry, especially when reading small print (not always). I have some muscle cramps, achy joints and doctors cannot figure the cause. (note: I also take statins for cholesterol). I experience mild depression from time to time. Lethargy and lack of motivation plague me (I was once self-motivated in all endeavors) and sex: although I can still perform, the desire to engage is not as common as before synth. Though, I know that this drug must be doing at least part of the intended job, or I'd surely be sliding off at the deep end, I can't help but notice the difference in my personal well being, attitude, desires, focus and tenacity. I don't hate this drug as it is obviously helping me somewhat. I just wonder if perhaps, one of the natural versions which include T4, T3, T2 & T1 (though T2 & T1 are not normally measured) would not be a better choice for me, since I have NO thyroid to do any converting for me. A discussion pending between my endocrinologist and me. Read More Read Less

The first few weeks of being on this medication, my heart palps got worse, I became very nervous and jumpy, but now that I've been on it for a month, everything seems to have evened out now though. I have not experienced hair loss that I'm aware of, and no real mood changes. I've also had no weight loss or weight gain. Still have a couple of weeks before I get my thyroid levels tested again, so we will see. I am on a very low dose though.

Seems the actual Synthroid is most effective. While using the generic form I was breaking out in acne like spots on face, back and arms.

I have been on the generic form for about 2 years. Felt better, but not 100%. Decided to take the advice of others and requested the brand name. What a difference. It has been a month and I feel sooooo much better. Try it, it does make a difference.
