Hello, I have been using Synthroid for over ten years and find it the best to use. I have never had my dose increased as I follow the SPECIFIC directions for use. Take it at the same time every day (for me, 5 A.M.!)and on an empty stomach--for one hour. I have found, my morning coffee is fine with no cream, or half and half ; a food. I tried the generic form and it did not have the same affect...

I have hashimoto's thyroiditis and I have been on synthroid for about 10 months. since then I have gained about 12 pounds and I feel bloated all the time. I am still exhausted even if I have enough sleep, and I just hate this pill. I'd really like to stop taking it but I can't. It also made me very irritable and more anxious than I've ever been. I had to go on an anxiety/depression med it got so bad.

Thanking everyone who has made comments. Thought I was nuts. Thyroid cancer 22 years ago. HUGE change in energy, mental alertness, and personality. Gained weight(145 up to 220) Doctors say my levels are fine. I do take combo of Cytomel .25mcg & Synthroid .1mcg. Thinking the doctor and I have to have a little talk again.

I just started the generic of this medication. I was on armour thyroid for over 2 yrs. I noticed a little increase in energy so far, my irritability decreased somewhat but my appetite is decreasing, my hair is falling out and I'm very shakey. Considering the brand name from reading all these comments. Also my throat feels like it's closing up or has a knot in it and I feel I may be allergic to the dye. yay.

I hsve hashimotos hypothyroidism. I went several years with low thyroid not being diagnosed. So when I went on Synthroid it made a real big difference. Unfortunately, doctor who diagnosed me thought once we found a good dosage, it would never change and as hashimotos progressed, symptoms returned. Changed to a doctor who would regularly monitor my thyroid levels and adjust synthroid dose and have been doing great with thyroid symptoms since. Synthroid is not as good as the thyroid hormones your body produces, but it sure beats living without it.Read More Read Less

I went thyroid treatment because I was losing my hair and had other related symptoms. After 3 mos on this drug, my hair loss is much worse. I have no idea if its the medicine or the thyroid. Be careful.

I have gained 29 lbs since I have been taking this medication and have problems with bloating and water retention. My diet has not changed nor my activity level. I still feel tired all of the time, but can barely get a good night's sleep regardless of how tired I am. Very displeased!

This medication has given a very small boost in energy and am considering askin the dr to increase my dosage to give me more pep in my step and has also shed some pounds for me without me even trying to do so. The pills are small so they're not hard to swallow like some other medications

I have been taking this medication for years, ever since I got diagnosed with Hypothyroidism in 7th grade. Once I started taking it, I grew 6 inches, dropped 30 lbs, and now feel very healthy and strong.

After 3 months of taking Synthroid I noticed that my hair began thinning, I stayed hot and poured sweat in climates over 80 degrees F, had occasional tremors while laying down and switched between being mad and depressed. My levels were tested as normal so it was determined that I was sensitive to the brand and switched to Levothroxin.
