Hello, I have been using Synthroid for over ten years and find it the best to use. I have never had my dose increased as I follow the SPECIFIC directions for use. Take it at the same time every day (for me, 5 A.M.!)and on an empty stomach--for one hour. I have found, my morning coffee is fine with no cream, or half and half ; a food. I tried the generic form and it did not have the same affect...

It is difficult to remember not to drink or eat anything after taking the medication for 30-60 minutes in the mornings.

I took this medicine for about two days and then I developed a weird rash on my neck, which is one of the side effects. I called my doctor and he took me off it asap! But everyone is different.

I have been on this drug since oct 2012 after a total thyroidectomy. My dosage has changed fron 100 mcg to 112 mcg. My levels have to be checked every 4-6 weeks. I have not lost any weight(have gained a couple of lbs),no hair loss to speak of ( take vitamins), sometimes I get headaches & will feel dizzy, sleepy during the day ( i work 12hr shifts)& have a lack of energy but that is no different than before I had surgery so hopeful the next dosage change will help me feel better.

Thyroid removal in September 2012, was put on 112mcg immediately, and finally got calcium levels up. Went for bloodwork recently as 10 days ago and now being increased to 125mcg with bloodwork again in 2 months. Hopefully new dosage will be more helpful.

I have Hashimoto's Thyroiditis which caused Hypothryoid. I take this daily to regulate my thyroid. I notice no difference if I mise a dose. My thyroid levels are always normal when checked (yearly). I have been on the same dosage for 8 years. (25mcg)

Synthroid is the only drug I can tolerate for underactive thyroid, I have tried Levothyroxine result was really elevated blood pressure, dry eye, anxiety, heart palpatations, nervousness second attempt on improved generic with bad results returned to Synthroid within 3 days blood pressure was returning to normal, and remainder of problems just not there anylonger. Levothyroxine could be causing problems for people unaware the problem cold be the generic. If you need med for thyroid Synthroid does a good job. Read More Read Less

I have been on Synthroid for approx. 10 years and feel that I still experience serious symptoms of hypothyroidism-- most notably, I do not have a normal amount of energy and have difficulty concentrating. I know that the drug is perceived to be an effective treatment, but most women I know who take it are not happy with the results.

I have been taking Synthroid for years. After relocating, my new doctor was more agressive with the dosage over an eight month period, attempting to bring my TSH down to the lower end of the range. I am now on 175mcg, and have gone from 205 to 168, and feel great!
