Hello, I have been using Synthroid for over ten years and find it the best to use. I have never had my dose increased as I follow the SPECIFIC directions for use. Take it at the same time every day (for me, 5 A.M.!)and on an empty stomach--for one hour. I have found, my morning coffee is fine with no cream, or half and half ; a food. I tried the generic form and it did not have the same affect...

Underactive thyroid was a complete surprise to begin with and, after taking medication for 2 or 3 years, my numbers have been all over the place. Am currently taking synthroid every day plus methimazole once a week for OVERactive thyroid because my numbers swung so high at one point. Doctor is perplexed and doesn't know how to treat me. Now that I read some reviews, the symptoms I thought were due to menopause may very well be due to this stupid pill. It's very frustrating.

Palpations, weakness, sometimes extreme leg weakness. If dosage isn't correct, loss of hair, dry skin.

I just switched from generic brand to synthroid~it tastes just like a sugar pill as I can chew it and I am becoming more and more tired as each day goes by.

I have been on Synthroid for more than 5 years. I go to the doctor and the blood levels look good, but I still have nodules on my thyroid that will not get smaller, I still lose a lot of hair, I am still fatigued, I still gain weight, I still have depression, I still have dry skin and an inability to concentrate. I started exercising more than a year ago, 3 or more times a week, and I have not lost any weight at all, even though I changed my diet as well! I have all the symptoms of hypothroidism still with good blood results!?!?! Why is this acceptable? I don't understand how this is the right medication for me if I have no changes in the way I feel! I asked my endocrinologist yesterday to please lets try another medication and he told me I could find another doctor because he wasn't changing me if my blood work was fine. WHAT?!?! Seriously I have to try to find another doctor willing to listen to me now. I am sure this medication works for a lot of people, but I have never been allowed to be on another medication, so I have no idea about what it's like to feel better with this disease. I am completely dumbfounded. Is my endocrinologist my doctor or a drug rep?Read More Read Less

I was always shaking, confused and anxious. Could not concentrate or do anything because of the shaking and confusion. Horrible drug for me, even with the smallest dose available. I used it for 6 weeks and do not want to use it ever again.

Has anyone noticed more palpations of the heart when eating EGGS for breakfast. I have been on LEVOTHROXINE for a year after having to have my thyroid removed because of cancer. And I take Propranolol for a fast heart beat.My heart seemed like it would beat out of my chest since eggs have iodine naturally I though that maybe the eggs were interfearing with the meds, and so I have almost quite eating eggs and my heart has almost stoped the iratic beating that it was doing before but I am still tired and sleepy all the time. And I am going to ask the doctor if i can try Syntroid.I like eggs for breakfast and I will quite eating them if I have to.I hope this helps someone solve their problem.Read More Read Less

Very confusing reading reviews. Some say Synthroid great others hated. I was on generic and immediately broke out in a bad rash. Switched to Synthroid. Take (4) 50 mcg pills with don't have the coloring and fillers that generic has. On it a week. No rash. No side effects. I know a week isn't very long but so far so good. Will review again after a month. P.S. I am taking this because I had my entire thyroid taken out.
