I've been using Nuvaring for 8 years now and have had no other side effects than going from a C cup to a D cup, but no weight gain anywhere else! It's very effective and no mood swings. And my sex drive is still very much in tact- never been affected. Much lighter periods are a plus (3 days or less), no more pain with periods at all and not having to worry whether I took the pill at the right time...

Well yes, nuvaring will keep your from getting pregnant. It will also make you an emotional basketcase to the point that a guy who claims he loves you "can't handle it" and runs off with an emotionally unavailable slut. Works wonders in preventing babies though.

I can say Nuvaring has always worked fine for me, the only negative aspect is that in the 3 rings pack, they started selling not one, but three applicators made of plastics. I personally don’t use any applicator and I find it a great waste of material.
I had been on ortho-tri cyclen daily pill for about 5 years prior to using the ring.I had no issues w the pill but started traveling a lot for work and would forget to pack pill and didn't want to risk a pregnancy. Since I have never have given birth I didn't want an IUD so I chose the nuvaring. It has been great so far (3months) zero side affects and easy insertion/removal. Husband can't feel it in there so no problem on his end. Period is so light I barely bleed and only for 2 or 3 days. Wish I would have tried this sooner!! Also, not pregnant!Read More Read Less
I've been on every birth control now except for the copper IUD, the Depo shot, Patch, and Arm implant. I have been using the Neuva ring for about a year and a half now and although it's not the worst, it certainly isn't the best for me and I'm looking into something else. Here's my experience as a almost 33 year old, active female with endometriosis, never had kids. My boobs went for a D to a DDD, I gained about 10 lbs mostly in my thighs, ass and boobs. My skin has gotten EXTREMELY oily and I can't hardly get makeup to stay on my face anymore, I have acid reflux where I never had that before and it makes it difficult to workout but that was worse the first few months and has somewhat mellowed out. Every single time I bend over for any reason I have a creamy discharge that just comes out which I never had that before either. It's painful for my partner and I during sex as it gets pushed up there really far and sometimes comes out too. My sex drive has completely depleted as in I NEVER want to have sex and that is not like me at all, I normally have a much higher sex drive than any man I've been with. And lastly it's just kinda painful putting it in and taking it out. Besides all those side effects my mood is very stable, I don't bleed, after gaining the 10 lbs that's about all I gained, however it's 10 lbs too much for me so I feel insecure about that. I will be switching BC's here soon but this has been my personal experience with it and everyone is different. Read More Read Less
I use to be afraid of BC b/c of all the negative side affects. But once I gave it a shot, it was the best thing I could do. I forget I’m on birth control, no hormone changes, shorter periods, little to no cramps. A really underrated birth control, always recommend it to everyone!
BEWARE!! The nuvaring may give you abnormal paps!! I got abnormal readings the whole time I used the ring and perfectly fine paps while not using it. I even need additional testing which was very traumatic for no reason other than this stupid ring. Think about it... The ring is right up against your cervix causing not only friction but a huge surge in hormones right into the tissue. I bet you these were the reasons for my abnormal paps. The drug companies will not inform users of this side effect, of course.Read More Read Less
No periods if used continuously. No weight gain. No mood changes. No pregnancy lol
Warning: yeast infections might develop one when you start this medication. I know this is a common side effect with birth control but I never had a problem with it on the pill. Other than that I have been pleased with this medication. No crazy side effects that I can think of but I will say that my acne has not gotten better in this medication. My face was so clear in the pill but not the ring so far. The ring itself is very convenient and easy to take in and out and extremely low maintenance. Read More Read Less
I started the Nuvaring before going to college and was on it about 6 years before deciding to have my son. After breastfeeding, went back on the Nuvaring again with no issues. One thing I did notice was that during one of my refills, I was provided with a generic ring (yellow with white packaging) and it was the worst 30 days I've ever experienced. The name brand Nuvaring (blue with silver packaging) has been great to me over the last 10+ years and my only suggestion is that if you aren't on the name brand is to have your OB notate your chart. The name brand Nuvaring costs about $600/ three month supply so the generic is being given to patients and they are just told that it's "the ring".Read More Read Less
I got sick from birth control pill form so I decided to try nuvaring postpartum , I'm 41/2 months postpartum and I'm pregnant again. I literally peed on the stick with it still in. I even used plan B ??
Been on the Nuva Ring for going on 2.5 years now I think. I take it continuously due to endometriosis. Only get 3 periods a year and they are light with minimal cramping. Super easy to insert and remove. Very mild symptoms other than sore boobs and mood swings during last few days of cycle. Tried the pill, patch and 3 IUDs. Hated it all until this.
NuvaRing made me literally unable to recognize myself. It gave me intense mood swings, my libido was non-existent, and it made me question everything I thought I knew about myself because I legitimately did not feel like the same person. I thought it was just new life situations (graduating, moving, living with S/O) but after having an IUD for a year now I can confidently say that the NuvaRing really just did me dirty. I am back to normal and feeling better than ever. If you are able, I 10000% recommend an IUD over NuvaRing.Read More Read Less
First time I tried this I got all kinds of side effects, decided to go off it and discovered I had a hormone imbalance that didn't mix well with the addition of Nuvaring. I took a couple of months to fix my hormones and then went back on this for a second time because I really wanted this to work for me, it did! Zero side effects aside from when my fiance pointed out he thought my boobs grew (Not a bad side effect by any means ??) I'm sensitive to hormone methods and the pill scared me into never wanting to go back on hormone methods but due to PMDD it was a necessity to help improve my quality of life which it has dramatically! Wish I could give it more stars!Read More Read Less
I had two children back to back and wanted to be on birth control so there wouldn’t be a third so soon. Starting off it was great. I stayed on for four years and two months. What made me get off was the constant aching of my uterus and random yeast infections associated with my tissue growing outside of my cervix. Random bleeding during sex. Overall, to prevent pregnancy a great birth control but can’t deal with all of the other issues that come with it anymore.
Was on Nuvaring for 7 months. Works great at preventing pregnancy. I felt like a zombie for the first 3 days, but I had no physical symptoms after the first month (except for recurring yeast infections). However, about two months after starting it, my mental health plummeted. I've always struggled with anxiety and some very mild depression, but the ring made me a different person. I could barely get out of bed in the morning, and when I did, I usually started crying. EVERYTHING made me cry. I started having serious suicidal thoughts. I had no control over my emotions at all. I had panic attacks several times a week, if not a day. It made me so clingy and insecure. It made my skin pretty and I never got pregnant, but definitely not worth the mood side effects for me. Keep in mind that different medications interact differently for everyone. Just because this was my experience does not mean it is everyone's experience. I still think the ring is a great option to try. It's super convenient and hard to mess up, and I really wish it worked out better for me. Just keep the potential for negative mood side effects in mind when using it so you can stop the second you start feeling off.Read More Read Less
I’ve been on since I was 20 and I’m 31 now. I haven’t had all these anxiety attacks or mental health issues effect me due to use. I’ve always had depression before and after using the ring it hasn’t gotten worse. My only complaint is I stopped using it for a few months and I’m getting back on I used to do this a few times in my 20s. I am older now and getting back on this time has been a challenge because I’m getting abnormal bleeding but I have a friend who’s doing the same and she’s on the pill. Read More Read Less
I started nuvaring 2 weeks ago and for the past 3 days my vagina has been EXTREMELY sore. I took the ring out yesterday because I just couldn't take it anymore and it literally gave me a yeast infection after only 2 WEEKS OF USE! Ive been alive 21 years and I have never in my life had a yeast infection or UTI so this is completely out of the norm for my body. I've talked to a few of my friends and they said the same thing happened to them. I've also been extremely moody and had severe acne break out not only on my face but my back. the worst side affect by far is the yeast infection, I'm extremely disappointed. If I could give this product 0 stars I would. Read More Read Less
So shortly after starting it I got aura migraines for the first time in my life. It got to the point of getting them weekly, my mental health plummeted and I got super suicidal and depressed. Plus after 6 months of perfect use (taking it out and putting it back exactly how it's meant to) I still got pregnant, but I also got pregnant on the pill so maybe my body's just determined to have kids... ??
Yeah sure no babies but a week into it my mental health PLUMMETED. Anxiety like a MF. Anxiety attacks worse than ever. And suicidal thoughts increase almost immediately. Find something else please.
Just had cramPing
The Nuvaring almost killed me. I was on it for about 2 years. I started randomly passing out but didn't make the connection for a long time. It was causing me to pee out all my sodium. This isn't a commonly known side effect in the medical community so it took a very long time to connect the dots even with talking to my physician. I got so low on sodium in my blood that my brain was unable to use electricity correctly and it started to slow my cognitive function and cause me to randomly pass out. Over time the passing out episodes became more frequent. It also caused me to have a weird social anxiety, extremely low libido, and inability to smell body odor. After about 2 weeks off I could already tell I felt way better in all aspects of my lift. I have been off of it for 2-3 months now and I have so much more energy and am more social. I haven't passed out once since. I'm able to regulate body temperature. It might be great for some people but be aware of side effects that the medical community isn't aware of. Read More Read Less
