I was prescribed the drug yesterday within a four week pregnancy. After reading many of the online reviews I was absolutely terrified, which as a result I am writing this review in an effort to help calm some of the nerves out there. Although I have three more nights to go with this, (I am to take 400mcgs over four nights)I have to say my first night was not the nightmarish experiences women o...

I was about 8 weeks along. Firstly, I misread the instructions. I thought after the 1st pill i wait 30 minutes. And I had taken the 1st pill at 11pm, but I clarified and saw that I had to wait the 24-48 hours. So last night around 11, i was too nervous to do the other pills... but I finally did them the buccal method around 330 am this morning. About an hour later I started cramping really bad, and they got really intense. For hours I was in so much pain, i couldnt lay down, I couldnt get comfortable at all. Around 1130am I decided to take a hot bath to see if that would help. It helped a little. I found myself able to doze off while I was in the tub. A few minutes later a big blood came out followed by another big clot. It looked whitish, maybe that was the whole sac. Once that came out i did feel so much better. Im still cramping a little, but nothing like the pain before everything came out. Read More Read Less

I felt like I needed to write a review. I never that that I would find myself in this situation. I read reviews for comfort and I only hope this will make someone not feel alone. As soon as I found out I was pregnant I called planned parenthood and they had a cancellation for 2 days later so I took it. If they didn’t have a cancellation it would have taken 2 weeks or more to get in. I live in a rural area so it was a 2 hour trip one way to get there. They were so nice and non judgemental. It was such a loving environment but the appointment took about 2 hours from start to finish. They asked questions and did an ultrasound. Which showed I was 6 weeks and 1 day. I took the mifepristone right at the clinic and I had no side effects other then slight dizziness when I stood up but I was able to drive with no issues. And then approximately 12 hours later I inserted the misoprostol vaginally. I would say within 2 hours I started bleeding but I didn’t have horrible cramps. There was some clotting but not these large clots that I’ve read in other reviews. Within the next 24 hours I had heavy bleeding, pass clots but they were smallish, and then cramping and at times the cramping was pretty bad but not unbearable. Over the next week or so I continued to have intermittent cramps that felt like bad period cramps. I’m now 2 weeks past taking this medication and I had my follow up ultrasound and it showed to be successful. I am still bleeding lightly. I had no side effects such as nausea or diarrhea. I was worried it did not work because I did not have huge clots and the bleeding was very bearable and more like a period. I also did this with not telling anyone. All alone. I made it through and if I can then anyone can. We got this ladies, I hope this review helps someone.Read More Read Less

I felt as though the right thing to do would be to write a review. I found comfort in reading others experiences and I can only hope this will do the same for others… needless to say I never thought I’d find myself in this situation. And there should be no judgement we never know what’s going on in another’s life. I ended up getting into planned parenthood pretty quickly, I got lucky there was a cancellation and I got in within 2 days or else it would have been a 2 week wait. I live in rural northern Michigan and had to travel 2 hours one way to get treatment. I was so nervous but they were so sweet and comforting there. Pretty much they just asked a bunch of questions and then did an ultrasound. It was pretty painless but it did take 2 hours just to get through everything. I took the mifepristone right in the clinic at noon, there were no side effects other then feeling a little dizzy when I stood up. Around 12 hours later I took the misoprostol vaginally. That was midnight and by 3 am I could feel bleeding, the cramping was very minimal if any at this time. I went to the bathroom and there was some clotting but nothing major. As the morning went on bleeding & clotting continued. The cramping seemed to come in waves the first 24 hours or so and at times it was pretty bad but then it’d go away. Sort of like a contraction but much further apart like an hour apart. No stomach issues or nausea or diarrhea. The first few days after the misoprostol I continued to bleed heavily and then I would get period type cramps. These lasted for a few days. But got better with time. I’m now 2 weeks out and bleeding very lightly and no cramping for quite some time. I had my follow up appointment and I am no longer pregnant according to ultrasound. I was nervous it didn’t work because the clotting was not as bad as I was expecting and it overall was an easy process physically. The hardest part was the anxiety of calling and worrying about being judged. And the protestors outside the building. But I made it though and I know you can too if you’re reading this. I did this all alone and still have not told anyone. Use your inner strength you got this girl. Read More Read Less

I never, EVER write reviews, but I spend DAYS on end sifting through these reviews in hopes that it would bring me some comfort and calm my nerves about the process and guess what.. it did! So I’m here to share my experience as well. I’ll start off by saying this was FAR easier than I could have ever expected and I spent a week getting myself worked up over absolutely nothing. 5/2/2024 I had my appt with my local woman’s clinic where I was given my first pill, a prescription for Norco, zofran, and the second set of pills I would need to insert vaginally 24-48 hours later. The first pill gave me ZERO side effects. I took it at the clinic then went home and went about my day. No nausea, headache, cramps, exc. The following day 5/3/2024 at 3pm I had my boyfriend help me insert the second set of pills (4) into my vagina. It was definitely easier being able to lay flat and having someone help insert them as far as they could go (TMI, sorry!). 30 minutes prior to this I had taken 800ng ibuprofen and a zofran (I never once needed to take the norco if that says anything at all!). Within 20 minutes of inserting the second set of pills I began feeling some light cramping, but that’s it. Clicked on my TV and put my heating pad on. Roughly an hour later I began experiencing heavier cramps. No heavier than my regular period cramps though. This is when I got up to to the bathroom and noticed the bleeding had started.. nothing super heavy, just bleeding similar to a menses. I went and laid back down and another hour later the cramps intensified. Definitely more than period cramps, but absolutely bearable! I’d say roughly a 6/10. I went to sit on the toilet again and this is when I passed a large blood clot the size of a golf ball and then the pregnancy right after. Instantly the cramping subsided. The bleeding continued as a heavy flow for several more hours and did pass one more large blood clot later in the evening. It is not two days later and I have no more cramping. The bleeding is nothing but light spotting and I feel great! You can do this ladies ?? oh let me add I was 6 weeks along! Read More Read Less

Im not one to leave reviews but this was a huge deal for me and I felt it necessary to tell people about my experience since I myself was so nervous and scared to take these pills, especially after reading some of the horrific reviews. When I started this process I was unsure of my last period date so I estimated and the website I used put me at almost 8 weeks. I'm not going to go into too much detail about my current situation because I don't wanna write a novel but in short, I am 33 and I have 4 beautiful children. Unfortunately we aren't at a place in more than one way to have anymore kids. I had 4 great pregnancies with no complications and 4 non medicated births. My menstrual cycles vary but are generally pain free with mild pain and bleeding. I feel it necessary to mention all of that because after my experience, and reading other people's experiences, I 100% believe because I have been through childbirth so many times this experience wasn't as intense for me since my body is used to going through a similar process. I took my first pill halfway through my shift at work on a friday. I did that because after doing research about the abortion pills, I read the first pill causes little to no side effects but that you need to call off the next day since that's when most of the bleeding occurs. It was true because I had no symptoms at all the first day. 24 hours later right before my alarm went off to take the other pills, I actually vomitted once and started slightly bleeding. Once I was able to eat something I took the 4 pills using the buccal method and then swallowed the remainder of the pills after 30 min. About an hour after taking the 4 pills I started cramping and bleeding more heavily. After about an hour I passed a golf ball sized clot and continued to bleed and pass clots for the next 6.5 hours. Not this is where I'm at now.. I am still bleeding pretty heavy but the cramps have almost completed subsided and I have no other symptoms. I know not everyone's experience is the same but if you are scared and this is your only option like me, you WILL get through it. It was the most difficult decision I have ever had to make and one that I said I'd never go through with but even though I'm not happy I had to do it, I am relieved that I had a good experience. Without this option, idk what I would have done. Read More Read Less

I was 11 weeks along and I took this medicine and let me warn you the cramps are NO JOKE. Take your pain pills!! Everyone said clots fall out well I had some clots fall out and I also had a literal fetus I had to yank from my vagina and pull out. It was terrible. Next time I’ll give birth. But the medicine did work for me and I am no longer pregnant now. Just warning you ladies make sure you are 100% ready to take this pill if you are as far along as I was.

**I need to put this out there for the women that are afraid after reading all of the scary reviews... I took this medication to soften my cervix so that I could have an easy papsmear. NOT for an abortion or to complete a miscarriage...I was so afraid I was gonna be in a lot of pain and get very sick but that wasn't the case for me... I took this medication , one pill by mouth at 530 pm, I took the second pill at 830 pm the night before my pap smear.... I have had light cramping...on a scale of 1-10..its been a 2/3..... After my pap, My doctor explained to me that this medication softened my cervix, didn't dilate it...I have HPV and The need to have a successful pap is very important... I just wanted anyone out there, that is unsure about taking this medication, for reasons besides an abortion, It will be okay.. Believe me I had second thoughts but i'm glad I took it anyway... Now I await the results of my pap smear...Read More Read Less

I would suggest not reading the reviews beforehand! I was SCARED to death because of them! My experience was nothing like anyone else's, but also every ones body is different! I took the first pill on a Friday, sent myself into complete panic for no reason! The first pill did nothing out of the ordinary for me. 24 hours later I decided to do the buccal method (holding them in your cheeks for 30 mins) I literally sat there staring at the pills for a good 45 mins before I put them in my mouth! About 3 hours after washing them down I started cramping but I've had worse periods cramps than that, went to the bathroom a couple times & seen some clots (normal) went to the bathroom again & what I believe to be the abortion fell right out, no pain or anything. Don't let the reviews scare you! You will be okay I promise you won't die! You got this girly! Read More Read Less

I thought to share my personal experience with this medication. I aborted at 4 weeks of gestation and in sonography it looked very small, no embryo was visible. I took mifepristone and waited 36 hours before taking misoprostol. I took in total 4 pills, 2 in the morning and 2 after 5 hours. Took forever to feel some cramps and they were light, less than normal menstruation cramps. The next day I went to doctor, took a scan only to find out abortion was incomplete. I took another dose of misoprostol 4 pills( like before) and got very little cramps after 24 hours. A big cloth has exited and thought it is over. Bleeding kept going for a while, breast sensitivity too but it ultimately stopped. After less than a week I start bleeding heavily, when I go to doctor I found out that I still have some clots left and I got scheduled for D&C which was successful, painless and quick. After all, if I'd have gone straight for the D&C I would have spent less money and be done with it quicker than the adventure I had with misoprostol. Read More Read Less

I said I’d come back for an update. I think the most hardest part of this all is not only the fact that I had to abort my first pregnancy. but the cramping afterwards was the most painful I have ever experienced seems as though I was contracting almost every day around the clock. I took the second set 2/15 and it’s been a week. The blood clots are smaller, the blood is a mixture of dark brown and bright red. I was told this could last for four weeks. I hope not. I guess the cramps within itself is torture.Read More Read Less

I did tons of research as soon as i got my 4 week notice…Reviews made me nervous for no reason. Of course it will be more painful if you are more than 5 weeks because the sac you have to pass is larger…. I was 5 weeks when I took all 4 pills. Bleeding started the same night right after I felt the sac detach from my uterus. Worst pain ever felt in my life. No sleeping position was comfortable and the heating pad or 800 mg advils did help but wow. I am glad it did not last past a few days. After 2 days I went back to work. Cramps lasted two weeks and bleeding too… I finally feel like myself again. I gained almost 10lbs in a week but I am no longer nauseous all day. Yes I am sad that I am not ready to start a family right now. But! I’m glad I had this option. Everyone’s body is different but just stay hydrated (very important) make sure you eat with your medicine! & pray for forgiveness as your sins were already paid for past present and future. Best wishes. Read More Read Less

A few hours before I take the second set of pills and I’m anxious but reading these reviews for the last few weeks have calmed me a little. For those who say the first pills has no symptoms….um “okay”. I did experience slight cramping and headaches an hour into taking the first. Currently I don’t have much of an appetite but I am trying to snack a little and stay hydrated before I take the pill at 2:15. From my understanding I’ll need to start 30 minutes prior so they’ll dissolve by that time. We will see how this goes….ill come back here for an update Read More Read Less

just want to share my experience,, actually i took miso twice because the first time isnt working for me, im bleeding like really thick blood but it just not working because im still pregnant, i know it because i scan at the clinic and the fetus still intact, i was 8 week along, maybe that’s why it’s not working for the first time, but it did work for the second time i use it after a week, at first i thought its not working either because it takes loong time to cramp or bleeding, id say 12hours, then i start cramping, it got worse and worse but the cramp is still manageable tho,, after almost 5 hours of cramp i stand up and something just burst out of me and rush to toilet and everything came out, and then the blood, lots of blood but it became less after a day,, everyone has the different experience and i thought i could share mineRead More Read Less

Posting this review not to persuade anyone with a decision but instead to help decrease the anxiety of those who already started the process and are freaking out. Using a timeline format as those post helped me guess-timate what my day was going to be like and plan for what I might need. I noticed that for those people who had no pain management or nausea medication seemed to have the worst symptoms. Further along you are or if you have never given birth seems to complicate things as well. Age 41, 3 High risk pregnancies/births, no history of abortion or miscarriage. 36 days into 4th pregnancy. I kept my kids home safe with me so that I did not have to drive anywhere during this process. I did not have adult or family to help as I live out of state and partner is always working. Prep: Lots of blankets, thermometer, heating pad, medications, distractions, supportive person or emergency plan, food, water, no work on 2nd pill day, emergency contact instructions, transportation, pads/toilet paper Day 1 Telehealth Appointment after work. 1hr Day 2 10:00am Doctor exam, pill #1 at 11am. Went to work late. Slight nausea/dizzy 3hr after pill then mild cramps 3/10 2am, no bleeding, 6/10 cramps Next Day *No work/called out as recommended by doctor. 7:30am Ate oatemeal, 45min cardio to decrease anxiety. Drank 1 bottle water 9:28am Took 1 Nausea Med, wait 30min 10:15am Took 1 Ibuprofen 800mg, wait 30min 10:45am 4 pills dissolved in cheek of mouth for 30min, wash down with water 11:20am Felt sever coldness and full body shivering (I believethis is a side effectof nausea med as it decreass serotonin), cramps 7/10, and mild sore throat. Used deep breathing to calm shivers and relax muscles. Layers of warm clothes and 3 blankets still freezing! Felt scared. Tried to focus on t.v. 12:51pm Felt blood gush in pad, sat up to help with gravity, rocking body to self regulate anxiety and physically move things along, slight nausea, 99.0 temp Heat pad on abdomen helped! Still very cold but shivers stopped. Felt emotional relief about bleeding but felt very guilty as well. 1:25pm Passed a red clot, bright red blood flowing, 99.9 temp, cramps 6/10, mild contractions. Felt intense guilt, regret and then relief. Nausea, attempted to eat soup. Still cold! 2:03pm 100.1 temp, feel like I was fighting a cold, Head ache mild 2:15 Peak symptoms, lots of dark bright red blood, started slight pushing while on toilet and felt a pop like feeling into toilet. Saw a clear jelly blob size of pencil eraser, examined it no identifying structures, flat/clear. 100.00 temp. Immediate drop in severity of symptoms. 2:33pm Head hurts, cramps 6/10, temp 99.7, fatigue, hunger 4:15pm Head hurts less, Temp up and down 99.5 to 99.1, cramps 4/10. Felt more emotional stable. 5:15 Head ache increases, cramps 2/10. temp 99.1. Took 1 Ibuprofen for Head ache and fever. Flowing thin bright red blood Next Few Days Dizzy, cold sweats, constipation, headaches, temperature normal but feel hot inside, bleeding, no cramps. Feeling emotional and easily agitated, bloated. Able to work and go about my day but didn't feel 100%. After Care Plan Start birth control (Mini pill) 3 days after completion. 30y, 8wks: I wanted to share my experience, as I went into it expecting the worst and to get every symptom in the book, but it actually wasn’t bad at all. I took the first pill, didn’t feel great the next day, but could’ve been the pregnancy hormones too. 7:15pm I took pain medication and didn’t take the gravel, as I don’t like how it makes me feel. An hour later at 830, I dissolved the tablets in my cheeks for 30 mins, and then swallowed the rest. I went to bed at 915pm, fell asleep by 10, woke up at 1210, to cramping, I then felt a popping sensation, and went to the bathroom, where golf sized clot’s expelled. I took more pain meds and went back to bed, woke at 330, to expel more clots. Slept until my baby woke up at 600am. Didn’t have to take anymore pain medication. Some minor cramping and bleeding, but nothing unbearable, the worst cramps, id rate 2/10. Honestly, hasn’t felt different from a period for me. Didn’t have any other side effects. Now, I don’t know if having had, 1 natural birth, and 2 c section's, and multiple miscarriages had anything to do with it, but this was a walk in the park compared. Honestly stressed myself out reading other people’s stories, it’s different for EVERYONE, but I do hope more people have experiences like mine! Read More Read Less

PLEASE don’t let these reviews scare you like they did me!! This was my first abortion, and i was 7 weeks. The cramps were tolerable but not painful like everyone says. I have a LOW pain tolerance and not once did i feel like i wanted to cry. It was more uncomfortable than anything. The whole process lasted about 8 hours for me. I’m currently still bleeding but nothing too heavy and it hasn’t even been 24 hours. I passed about 5 big clots and that was about it so far. The cramps have subsided and now so has the nausea which was the worst part of my pregnancy/abortion experience! I kept repeating “God’s got me” and i made it thru. Good luck ladies!Read More Read Less

I very recently went ahead and did this and let me tell you, the reviews up here scared me so bad! I procrastinated for over an hour because of how many people said their pain was unbearable! Well I have a totally different review so continue reading. Let me begin this by saying that I found out that I was pregnant 6 months after having my son and was not ready for another baby this soon. When I went to have an ultrasound done, I told them the date of my last period and they told me there was no way I was that far along. I measured 5 weeks IF THAT and mind you my nurse wasn’t even sure that it was a yolk sac that she was looking at. I ended up searching to find a medical abortion and a friend told me that her sister had one and went through this one website so that’s what I did. I paid and they shipped out my package and I received it within 3 days. I was sent a care package with everything I could need. I was told to eat something light then take the misoprostol. After that I decided to insert the mifepristone so with that I had to take an anti nausea medication in my package, 1000mg extra strength Tylenol, and 800mg of ibuprofen and wait 30 minutes before inserting. I finally inserted the 4 mifepristone pills and had to lay in bed for 30 minutes. It took about 3-4 hours to start bleeding. I didn’t have any pain really, it felt like a mild period.. now, there were a lot of blood clots. Once this big one came out the bleeding really slowed down and I was practically done that night. I inserted the pills at 3pm. It was not a bad experience. I am a little sad about it, but I have 2 beautiful babies and I didn’t want to bring another one into the world knowing I don’t have it all together right now. If you’re reading this, it’ll be okay. I was absolutely full of anxiety and was terrified to take this route after reading the side effects and others experiences. I was dreading it but knew I had to move forward seeing as I already taken the first pill in the clinic that blocks progesterone. Day 2 I took zofran ibu 800 and 2 tylenol 30 mins before I took the misoprostol 4 pills 2 in each cheek and gum. 30 mins later i felt slight cramps and went to the bathroom and was bleeding pretty heavy but no pain no nausea no chills no diarrhea no fever. I felt clots and pregnancy passing within 3 hours still with mild cramping. 6 hours later i kept up with ibuprofen and tylenol regimen to be safe. 3 days later and still bleeding and mild cramping like a regular period. If you take the pain pills and zofran like instructed it’s not bad at all. The anxiety I have myself was much more painful than the cramps themselves. I was 5 weeks along and a few days. This was my 4th pregnancy but first abortion. Read More Read Less
