brings my pain level to where I can deal with it.
I was just put on this medication - changed from Kadian ER because no pharmacy's carried Kadian - it is so riduclous that patients with valid prescriptions have to go to 50 different pharmacy's to fill...so frustrated!! Finally my doctor changed me to Nucynta ER with the MSir 15 mg as breakthrough meds (4 times a day) - Both meds are working great, and I am able to get filled with no hassle or no judgement.... I have severe back issues.. I cannot imagine what cancer or terminally ill patients are doing to get their medicine. Something has got to give!!!Read More Read Less
when taking the lower dose (15mg) got little relief. when bumped up to 30mg it was fairly effective unless a weather front was moving in.
I have been a childhood cancer patient for five years and have been receiving chemo nonstop with radiation and bonemarrow transplant. I have severe neuropathy in my hands and my whole legs and feet caused by my treatment., I can't write due to it among other activities and can't walk more than 30 feet, I have a cane and wheelchair that assists me though. The neuropathy isn't the only reason/side effect that ailes me to take msir. This medicine along with its 24 hour sustained release sister "******" has been a godsend and I can get back to trying to get better and stronger. The two medicines help so much I can get back into hobbies a couple minutes every couple of days and once in awhile play video games with a friend. It also helped so much I was able to study a lot and get my ged and allows me to push through physical therapy. I tryed other meds but the old basic morphine is tried and true and remains the gold standard. Too bad it has a bad reputation and some people out there who actually need it can't get it because a few people are idiots and abuse it and make regulations worse for everyone. I keep everything involving medicine except chemo to myself, I recommend you do too, its no ones business. Sorry about some of the censors and lack of details I am trying to keep some anonymity. It's not by any means perfect but it gets progress done and relieves a lot of my pain. Hopefully I won't have to take it forever and be back to normal...Read More Read Less
I take this med for failed back syndrome, laminectomy (L5-S1),2003, and L Radiculopathy. I feel it works well, I have been on 30mg,QID,for about 5 years. No bad side effects. The only problem is I am starting to become tolerant, so I only get about 2 hours relief, which isn't much in 24 hrs. Some people freak out when I tell them I am on Morphine, but my NP at the Pain Clinic says there is not a huge difference between opiods.
I have been taking this medication for a short period of time, only a couple of days. I thought it would give me a euphoric effect thankfully it did not. I have been on pain medications since 2006 so I am hoping this helps. I was taking oxycodone for years but the availablity has been too much of a problem and I go to the same pharmacy every month. Not to mention this is much cheaper and I have no insurance. I hope this continues to help me. I want to slowly get down to a point I am not taking so much medication due to constipation. I hate drinking magnesium citrate and giving myself enemas regurally. Does anyone have any suggestions. I eat healthy, I exercise as much as I am limited too, and drink tons of water. I am so over being constipated, I don't know what is worse the pain or constipation???!!!! Any suggestions of those taking pain meds, how do you get relief? I am desperate please. Sincerely, CONSTIPATED!!!!! Read More Read Less
helps with pain
I have used 15mg of msir off and on over the years for chronic pain. I have been back on it now for 3mos and it helps a lot, I take it 3 times a day for breakthrough pain. I also take 30mg of ms contin 3 times a day. I usually sleep for about an hour after taking my pain MEDS, but continue to have significant pain control so I can be somewhat of a productive member of my household, although I do spend a lot of time in bed.....chronic pain can leave you feeling very hopeless at times.
This works very well for the relief of pain and discomfort from Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS) or Regional Sympathetic Distrophy (RSD).
I take this medication for break through pain for Fibromyalgia, I am allergic to all codones so this has worked great for me.
This medication alone does not seem to help me at all. When ms contin is added, all i do is sleep.
After taking MSir for breakthrough pain for over a year, I find it effective for that purpose. I use MScontin for general pain control, and for the most part it works well; but there are times when a sudden stab of pain or change in what I'm doing raises my level of discomfort to levels that would otherwise send me to bed or keep me in a chair until the pain retreats. MSir when taken goes to work in about ten minutes and lasts long enough to keep me mobile and functional. A caution: MSir should not be used to completely mask pain since the chance of over-dosage is too great, and that pain may be a warning that something is going wrong and needs to be looked into rather than just masked. As with any opiate, there is a strong chance of constipation. I usually take a very mild stimulant laxative if I need to use MSir more than once in a 24-hour period. If the pain persistss for over 24 hours, contact your doctor rather than continuing to dose yourself; there is a serious danger that you'll mask symptoms that need to be checked by your physician. Remember: Opiates are like fire; a useful servant but a terrible master.Read More Read Less
I have been on long term medicatino for 2 years, finally built a tolerance to it, they put me on this msir, and i must say, it has help alot. i have two disc pressing on my spinal cord in my neck, and a bad right shoulder. I gotta say, I love the doctors, and the medication routine works well for me.
I have MS and I get severe back pain and this helps during major flare ups.
I find that this medication works fairley well for breakaway pain,But not for cronic pain alone.
