I was diagnosed with Rosacea 4 weeks ago. I had painful pimples all over my face. My dermatologist prescribed Metrogel to be used once each day, with an oral antibiotic, Doxycycline 100mg, twice each day. Today ws my 1 month check-up and my face looks so much better. I have to continue using Metrogel daily.

I had pink skin colour on my cheeks, my allergologist diagnosed rosacea and recommended using metrogel. After using this for 3-4 weeks my skin became much more damaged , it has now white and red spots, and for more than half year I am waiting an appointment with dermatologist; my skin doesn’t improve even after I stopped using the gel. Horrible horrible product.

This worsened my rosacea, increasing my redness and papules significantly after 4 weeks. It dried out my skin and made my skin texture terrible. My dermatologist switched me to Soolantra, which cleared up the mess metrogel made of my face in about 3 weeks. It was also a hassle to apply. It needed to be applied at the exact same time in the morning and at night, along with waiting 10 minutes for face to dry before applying, and then another 5 minutes after that to apply face lotion.

I've been diagnosed with rosacea about 4 months ago. The doctor prescribed me this gel to try and warned it may take a few months to work. It's been close to three months now since I started using metrogel. I use it morning and night, and while it seems to have reduced the soreness, I am now getting cystic acne and pimples which I never used to get before. The redness doesn't seem to have improved. Overall, I'm disappointed.

Got diagnocised years ago with acnea rosacea. I had a cycle of Accutane which worked great. It disappeared for years, then come back. Then myy dermatologist put me on a combination of Metrogel + doxycycline since there's less inconveniance and secondary effects. I wasn't confident at first, but I have to admit the result is pretty impressive. My skin is less dry than it was with Accutane and Clindoxyl and less irritate than with Stieva A. Once the rosacea crisis pass (because it comes and calm down on an irregular pattern), I only have to start back a new treatment cycle of 10 days of Metrogel + Doxycycline and it calms down and turn back to normal within a matter of days, if not hours. Depending on your very precised diagnosis, it way not work as well (heard it doesn't work as much with cystic acnea), but for an adult very severe acnea rosacea, which was about to leave my nose and cheeks scars, this is the best treatment I've tried and god knows I've tried a lot over the past 15 years. Very satisfied.Read More Read Less

I was diagnosed with Rosacea type 1 and 2 a few months ago, but I was dealing with it for over a year. Tried LED light, medical grade skincare, expensive facials, IPL/YAG lasers and it’s helped to a degree. The acne I have is bare minimal, I tend to get raised dry patches instead with the odd breakout which doesn’t really bother me that much, but the constant redness and plaques was bothersome until my GP prescribed me this, and oh my word, what a miracle! My skin looks normal after 1yr! I used it today and within an hour everything’s calmed down, I’m so happy and it only cost me £8 in the UK, cheap and a wonderful product! I would defo recommend anyone suffering from rosacea to try this, if that fails try Finacea gel. Read More Read Less

Most recent refill was the pump dispenser vs tube. I don’t care for the way the gel comes out: harder to control how much comes at once( and since only a thin film of the product is applied) so it’s proving to be wasteful. Also, the spout gums up so that extra comes out when it does release.

Made my rosacea acne worse. More breakouts, cystic acne and dry skin.

Waste of money. The gel is really pricey and it's not doing anything to my Rosacea after using it for 4 months.

Had rosacea for a while, doctor prescribed Metrogel every night for 60 days. Zero improvement and is actually worse with more raised blemishes than before using, skin still itchy and burning, will ask him to find me something else and I am stopping it, not worth the money at all.

64 year old male with no previous history of skin problems. Tried this very expensive prescibed gel for three months (three tubes). Experienced a reduction in lesions but no reduction in rash. Symptoms reappeared quickly when I stopped use. There are treatments available that actually addressed the cause of my rosaecea and have proven effective for me.

Had untreated rosacea for about 6 months before seeing derm and having it diagnosed. Tried metrogel and ALL symptoms cleared within 3 days! noticed huge difference on day 2. Miracle drug for me. And super cheap too! Wish I knew about this 6 months ago. Cannot recommend enough.

Prescribed for early onset rosacea, never had skin problems in my younger years other than a pimple here and there, I noticed little bumps on forehead and cheeks at 39 and just thought adult acne, seen derm and diagnosed rosacea, prescribed the 1% gel and started seeing results in just two days!!! I was worried based off other reviews, I was lucky to have insurance coverage with only $15 copay. Overall, I am satisfied with results.

I have had rosacea for years. I have kept it under control with an off the shelf product called prosacea. During a recent flare up I had happened to be at my doctors for another matter. She noticed my face and prescribed Metrogel. It was useless for me. It made no difference. I even tried, for 3 weeks, on only half my face, and I could see no difference between the two sides. At $140 a tube (Canadian), it was a big waste of money.

I had a red/purple nose with acne as well as a red (rashed) forehead and cheeks. The results were immediate...I no longer have skin problems. I wash my face in the shower with water only...and apply metrogel cream right after. I am male and very happy with the results.

This drug is useless. Leaves face feeling like you have a mask on all the time. Not easy to use, pump either gives too much or not a lot. This medication should be taken off the shelf.

This product has helped me clear my skin and get rid of redness and pimples due to rosacea. I use generic but only in cream form since the gel does not work for me. Have been using it twice daily for the last 7--8 years with no side effects. I am a 64 yr old female.

I am told it is rosacea but I don't have the acne type pimples, just bright red hot blotches mostly on the cheeks and sometime down the side of my neck, I try to stay out of the sun and wind, the hot flashes make it much worse. this calms it down maybe 50% and it has a generic where others do not.

It started to work in reducing pustules after about 30 days but caused a yeast infection. OB Gyn said this was definitely the cause. Not worth it!

After another visit to my GP in tears with the skin of a teenager (I'm 41). She precribed metrogel. Took a few weeks but now my skin is blemish free and soft. I've been prescribed it on repeat prescription which in Scotland is free. Amazing.
