I have FAP, which is Colon cancer gene. I have only my small intestine now. The Viokase helps my tummy pouch and small intestine absorb more nutrients from my foods. The only problem is remembering take the pills every time I eat, which is often. But my weight was down to 100# and now I'm up to 112# after 3 months of being on this .

Viokcase 16 has worked for me since my Doctor diagnosed Chronic Pancreatitus 2 years ago. Sometimes I need apain pill also. They are a large pill and sometimes I have trouble swollowing them. I get them from Canada as they are not available in this country. They re of great help.

It seems that when I take this med. VIKASE 16 and eat, afterwards it sends me into an acute attack as well as severe pain, has anyone else experienced this reaction from Viokase 16?

Though the drug was very effective in treating diarrrhea during the first year of treatment, I've since experienced a gradual inrease in the frequency of attacks. I suppose it's nature telling me I won't get off so easy for the 35 years of liquid abuse I subjected by body to. 'Mothers, tell your children, not to do...'

It's such a wonderful enzymes. When taken correctly it actually works better than a pain pill. But, one still needs pain medication if the chronic panceatits ia as severe as mine is.

I have used Viokase for over 20 years to lessen colitis from food allergies (diary products, corn-corn syrup products). However now Medico does not distribute it and I need to find an alternative that is as good as Viokase.
