Terrible drug. Kid lost appetite and turned into grump. Tried to fight it out for a month but after visit with pediatrician he lost 2 lbs. he’s 7 and that’s a lot in one month!

Both my boys take Azstarys. We had to switch from Vyvanse as our insurance company was not going to cover it anymore. We have tried adderall in the past. My husband takes Focalin. We decided to give it a try. My boys have been on it for almost 2 months now and it is working!

Not to be dramatic but I literally hate this drug. First day I took it, my anxiety spiked for a bit while I was busy at work (more so than usual), second day I got EXTREMELY tired halfway through my day, not so much physically but emotionally and mentally. I felt like a zombie, everyone was asking me if I was okay. I feel like this medication would be great for a hyper active child you want to sedate. I haven't taken it for even 2 weeks yet so maybe I still need to get used to it but everyday I take it, It doesn't really do anything for me and then it just gives me the worst brain fog of my life halfway through my day. My focus is fine (it doesnt really help) for the first 5/6 hours, then it makes it so much worse. I want to stop taking it now but I'm waiting till my next appointment with my doctor. Other than a slight amount effectiveness in the morning, this medication was a dog. We gave our son the starting dose and after lackluster week in school moved him to next highest dose (the highest dose - there are only 3 options???) and same. A little bit of boost once it kicks in, but flatness and he felt low the rest of the day. I had high hopes...very disappointed!

This medication hardly worked even at the highest dose. Aside from a little efficacy in the morning, all it did for my son was make him not able to eat, and work a little until 3rd hour and that was after the highest dose. Disappointing since there was a lot of hype…

This medication made our son violent, aggressive, and noncompliant. Did not alleviate ADHD symptoms. Will never take it again.

Don’t waste your time or money. This stuff is garbage. I may as well have spent my money on tic tacs. This medication does absolutely nothing and I’m offended my doc would even prescribe it.

Is this medication for adults only? My two kids were out on azstarys last week on the lowest doses (one is 8 and one is 10) and they were comatose! Doctor said maybe they were under dosed??? He had us try middle dose and I almost took one of them to the ER for what I would say was a manic-ish episode. No more crappy Azstarys and no more doctor for us. Going back to focalin XR and will just take ritalin in the morning to get things moving.

I have not been able to find Ritalin due to shortages. Some months I'm lucky but the last two months I have hit dead ends. The doctor suggested Azstarys as an alternative. I do not metabolize certain medications like a majority of the populace. Fortunately it was confirmed after taking a genetic test to find out for sure. It's why I never could understand drug addiction for pain pills. Couldn't feel anything different. Aztarys is a quicker release of the active ingredient and a combination of Dexmethylphenidate & Serdexmethylphenidate as opposed to Methylphenidate which is supposed to be less potent and shorter acting. Well.....the first month of azstarys was ok. It helped some but not the same, however it was better than nothing (ahem....only the first month) the second month, and I swear, I don't even know myself. Can't focus, agitated/irritable, strange mannerisms that I have to be mindful to control such as easily distracted and can't shut up for anything- either talk to much to everyone or a constant dialogue in my head so as to try to keep my mouth shut. Recently everything just put me into an overstimulated distraction of epic proportions. It felt like my work day only lasted 2 hours. I don't think I accomplished anything but messing up my paperwork of which I'm now discovering. I would ordinarily not post or comment about a medicine. I came here to see if anyone else had similar problems. Nothing has matched my experience in this set of reviews, so if you are in my boat, I want to tell you that you are not crazy. Honestly, the ADHD is better than taking this stuff. It seemed that my behavior was even stressing others out, and was not what I needed. It did not make me any more hyper, just more anxious as before taking anything at all, and definitely did not increase productivity. I was back to lack of motivation and just outright being irritated when I tried to accomplish anything and got interrupted. EVERYONE with ADHD understands the motto: If I'm interrupted, I just give up. Fortunately I had a little bit of Ritalin left. Took one this morning because staying on Azstarys is unsustainable. FYI- some will also wonder if it affected appetite (It's a natural curiosity and one thing MOST women wonder about) - I would not say it increased, but I could eat more and also be ok with less just the same. Didn't feel like I was starving, but also did not feel the need to snack. Eat when my stomach growls. With Ritalin, I could eat less and push food away because I did get to a stopping point where I didn't want more. Better than NO increase. Can't say that it will have the same effect on anyone else. So...2 months- First month ok better than nothing. Second Month- I'm a holy terror to myself and everyone else. Read More Read Less

This medication started of very promising and a great alternative to Vyvanse with a more "taperring off" period but after my second prescription of it, I've quickly started to realize its much worse than Vyvanse as there seems to be an increasingly obvious feeling of negativity and impotence. Significantly more than Vyvanse.

I was having trouble getting my adderall filled and looking for a change anyways. My doctor suggested trying Azstarys because it starts fast is long acting and doesn’t keep you up all night. After a few weeks I haven’t been disappointed. I wish I would have made the switch sooner,

I waited a month and half before writing this to make sure there wasn’t just a honeymoon. Unfortunately, there is. First month the drug was great - the best I’ve taken (vyvanse, aderall, astynys). Quick onset, smooth focus all day. Smooth come down. Now a month and a half in and I basically feel no effects and actually am tired as hell after about an hour after taking. I’m on the middle dose. I’m avoiding going to the max bc I’ve been there before with Vyvanse and it does nothing really IMO. Was super happy at first but am back to where I started before taking it. Tired, moody, hard to get going on stuff, etc.Read More Read Less

I really wanted this medication to work. I was on Vyvanse 50mg, but I switched insurances and my new one won’t cover it. My Dr. prescribed Azstarys hoping it would be a good replacement (Dr. doesn't prescribe adderall xr or ir stimulants). Sadly, this med works well for about 3 hours and then starts dropping off. At around the 4 hour mark, I’ve noticed a marked increase in my depression, anxiety, and inattentiveness. By hour 5 I want to take a nap. I wish the effects from the first three hours could last longer. Even at the higher dose that I started this week, the same thing happens but the anxiety is worse. Higher dose doesn't equal longer half-life. Bummer. Read More Read Less

Our doc recommended this because he thought it would work longer than the other options. Not so much…This medication at the highest dose didn’t work longer for our 15 year old son. It worked like the other stimulants he tried (concerta, focalin XL, Vyvanse) but stopped working by about 3-4pm (took it first thing in am at 5:45). He said he felt numb on it and couldn’t concentrate because he felt he didn’t care. Very strange! They lowered his dose and the numbness and apathy went away a little bit but he started getting in trouble in the last 2 classes of the day. He chucked a basketball at his best friends head in phys ed/health and gave him a bloody nose, and although they were laughing, he got a detention. Dr. Wanted to give home a short acting after school but I’m so annoyed since my husband and I both work. If we’re not there to give it to him it won’t happen, no matter the alarms on phones etc. Not sure where to go from here but going back to Vyvanse since he has a few left before his appointment. My child used concerta, Vyvanse, adderrall in the past. Every time he was thrown into crying fits or became aggressive. Azstarys has been mostly tolerable to him. Not perfect, but he is doing much better with his brother and classmates. His teachers noticed an immediate positive difference. He is finishing his assignments and able to stay focused during lessons.

I was a little skeptical at first. I’ve tried lots of stimulants and non stimulants before, but after a few days I noticed a huge difference. I can feel it kick in fast and leave my body gently at the entire the day no crash.

Still trying to figure out why we tried this medication when he wasn’t doing all that bad on the other stuff. The doctor wanted us to try this because it was a pro drug and it started working quickly in the morning. It works like after an hour that’s not quickly for us at all! The doctor started us at the middle dose and now we are at the highest and I’m very underwhelmed. Likely switching back to what we were on or something better. I’d rather keep waking my kid up an hour before he needs to get up and give him his Ritalin.Read More Read Less
