I have suffered with RA for 27 years. I am currently 51. I have never had a day off from pain or experienced remission. The day Enbrel was FDA approved, I started the shots. Since then, I have tried (and failed) every single biologic from Remicaide to Xeljanz. I have had both wrists fused, one hand completely reconstructed, corneal melts, pleural effusion in both lungs, heart surgery to remove 2 l...

I just started taking this medication last week. I have been receiving infusions(Actemera) for over 2 years now. I was doing ok on the infusions but my Dr. felt I have plateaued on the infusion treatment and wanted me to improve more. I am hoping this will improve my present condition to a higher level of functioning. Time will tell

Weight gain, fatigue, terrible acne. I’m now seeing a dermatologist and on three additional meds for the acne. Failed Entyvio, methotrexate, allergic to Remicade. Two months in and want something else.

Started Rinvoq late 2002 and really liked the releif it gave me for my RA. three months later my red cell blood count started going down and white cell going up By May 2023 my red cell count was at 6.7 and I was admitted into the hospital. Received a unit of blood and blood was found in my stool. Had a upper and lower GI which showed nothing but small intestines. Was not done. Went off Rinvoq late May and Red cell count is up now at 11.7 and white blood cells are is back in a good range. Need still to have my stool rechecked and mybe swallow a camera to check the rest of my intestinal trac.Read More Read Less

Rinvoq caused me to have several infections including TB. I do not think it is safe. This is my 5th biologic med. They all caused weird infections. They are poisons in my opinion.

I have had Debilitating psoriasis on my hands and feet for 18 years,I also have psoriatic arthritis. I have taken everything from creams, pills and other biologics. Rinvoq has cleared my psoriasis!! Although I still have pain throughout from arthritis, this has been a miracle drug for my psoriasis.

This is a miracle medicine for me. I am 62 and have lived a very poor quality life with severe pain and itch from full body debilitating atopic dermatitis. I have been on buckets of topical/oral/injected steroids. I have had years of cyclosporine, cellcept, imuran and Dupixent injections with only modest to poor success. The physical and psychological effects of this are almost intolerable. My dermatologist prescribed me rinvoq 15 soon after it was approved in Canada… and I could get some financial help. Within a week my skin cleared 75%!!!!!the pain and itch greatly subsided I have not felt this well for 50 years…. This medication has given me hope. I will gladly put up with the acne… no other side effects except for wellness and elation ?? Thank you I Read More Read Less

Been on 15mg Rinvoq for 4 months now.Miraculously cleared all my symptoms of eczema which Dupixent hasn’t .never felt as good in my Entire life. I have never been on a medication so efficient .Only caveat is that eczema will come back as fast as it disappears if I stop using the treatment for 2 days. My biggest concern is the side effects I read and hear of . Cancer ,strokes??? I’m still trying to weigh the benefit /risk ratio to know if it s worth it. Are the probabilities of developing any of the major side effects high ? If not, I would stay on it permanently as it has changed my life for the better.Read More Read Less

Anger problems (worst I've experienced among many many other drugs), upper-tract infection (asthma-like symptoms due to mucus), infections all over the body (folliculitis? staphylococcus? Different itchiness sensation than eczema but STILL VERY ITCHY), diarrhea, lots of headaches and tiredness, mild hallucinations at times (waving walls, similar to effects of psilocin/psilocybin and LSD) (= increase in serotonin??).

Ankylosing spondylitis. It seems to help my rigidity and my fatigue. It also reduces the pain. The problem is that I'm full of herpes and that's just ruining it all for me. Now the pain is returning and the fatigue too. Biologics is like being permemently on a rollercoaster!

Started rinvoq 2019. Before this drug I tried too many others and suffered various side effects. First drug that allowed me to function 70% of old normal. I've had diverticulitis IDK 6 x in 3 years and taken cipro which is a whole other problem. Side note do not consume corn on the cob, nuts in any form if you have diverticulitis. Rinvoq yes it helps with seropositive RA I am 57 not on any other meds and cannot tolerate Rinvoq 15 mg more than 2 x a week. I've been off it 5 weeks due to diverticulitis and now a kidney infection. Surprisingly I feel my mood has lifted. I did not realize I was depressed I just wasn't feeling any joy when I was on it. Next pcp visit I will talk to my pcp. My rheumatologist routinely dismisses any side effects I bring up from Rinvoq. I do wonder now that I haven't taken it for over a month and feel no RA symptoms if when and how much I will take again. It does work, but the mood...yuck and diverticulitis... I think my body needs a break. I informed my rheumatologist I use this 15 mg every other day and he agreed. All drugs for RA have side effects we just have to decide which one works best for us. I will say I had to quit alcohol and junk food. I can really feel the harm I'm doing to my body when I make poor choices so which much reluctance I abstain from them. I don't use any OTC Tylenol herbal products or nsaids. They all cause unwanted symptoms when taken with Rinvoq. This is a very strong drug IMO. I'm on cipro now and can only tolerated divided 250 mg pills anymore and I'm vomiting. Be careful and pay attention to your body.Read More Read Less

This med definitely helped with my joint pain within days, but the side effects (unbelievable acne, major fatigue and for me I became so depressed). I only saw this side effect mentioned by a few users, but I’m telling you that I could not get out of bed for a week! I ended up stopping the med after 31 days. My acne cleared up in a week, my mood has stabilized and I have my energy back. I also have my pain back! Ugh. It just wasn’t worth it for me.

I had a stroke while on this medication. No risk factors: not obese, non-smoker, no diabetes, no atrial fibrillation, nothing. The new black box warning says there's a risk of heart attack or stroke if you're over 50 with pre-existing conditions, but I didn't have any. Please be very, very careful with Rinvoq.

I have Psoriatic Arthritis and been on Rinvoq for 14 months. I would likely be far worse if not on it but it has not brought remission. I have much less fatigue and over all improvement of function and close to normal life but definitely not pain free. Flares still happen but usually they are self induced from over-doing activity and work. Psoriasis is completely gone but I get occasional swollen acne like blemishes. I started on Rinvoq and methotrexate. Felt better dropping the methotrexate and just using Rinvoq. Read More Read Less

My skin stopped itching after taking the first pill. I am also taking Methotrexate which prevented my eczema from reaching those extreme symptoms but my skin still wasn't progressing the way I would've liked. My skin texture began to be softer in week 2. Then finally the red skin starts to recede by week 3. Rinvoq has worked for me where Dupixient hasn't

I was taking methotrexate($67 a month) for 14 years. I still had a little pain and inflammation in my joints. My rheumatologist prescribed Rinvoq ($6,300 a month). I took it for 3 months. The first 3 weeks, it worked because I still had methotrexate in my body but after that my pain came back a lot stronger! Finally I went back to methotrexate but for some reason methotrexate did not work as good anymore as it worked before I started taking Rinvoq. I am totally disabled to the point that I can’t even do simple things I used to do before I took Rinvoq. I think Rinvoq changed something in my body that is not repairable. This is a very bad drug. A miracle drug for me, a 54 year old woman. Absolutely no side effects, just a general feeling of wellness. I had years of struggle: morning stiffness, tears, swollen joints, punctures and intra-articular cortisone shots with thick needles every three or four months. Sometimes I had difficulties just chewing food, opening car doors, walking or getting up from seats, the floor or the bath tub. My smaller joints are pointing to various directions but that doesn't bother me at all. I can still pick things with my crooked fingers, work and enjoy life without corrective surgeries. I've tried all kinds of diets, drugs and remedies like sulfasalazine, general painkillers, herbal extracts, Arava, Methotrexate and Xeljanz for 20+ years for my sero- and citruline positive, erosive RA without significant results. The Finnish Social Insurance Institution covers most of the expenses for approved RA meds; currently I pay around 635 $/year (the maximum annual "own risk" sum in Finland) for Rinvoq. The only cons I've noticed are 20 lb weight gain (may also be because of sitting by the computer 24/7 due to Covid and Ukraine) and increased total cholesterol levels (rising slowly, now reaching 263 mg/dl). I don't need extra meds as the triglyceride level is within normal range, the HDL/LDL ratio is ok, I exercise daily and eat proper food, I don't have any symptoms, other illnesses, high BMI or a family history of cardiovascular events. Rinvoq has made my life much easier. I usually take Sunday off (without telling my doctor) just to give my body some rest. I addition, I take a vegan Omega fatty acid capsule plus multivitamin and magnesium pills from Monday to Saturday. All the best from a happy camper.Read More Read Less

I started on Rinvoq late July 2019 and noticed fatigue greatly improved in just a few weeks! By three months my inflammation factor was within normal ranges. I stopped for five weeks after total knee replacement surgery August 2020, and Covid January 2021, Covid January 2022. My one issue is the scalp acne that runs a 4-5 week schedule. It is cycling constantly! My rheumatologist monitors my lab factors which include blood counts.

It's only early days, 5 weeks but it has not been good. Extreme tiredness to the point of falling asleep during the day - tried taking the dose in the evening but it has made little difference. Huge increase in muscle pain and fatigue. Increased swelling in feet and ankles. Acne on scalp and face. Headaches. Joint pain where I don't usually have much problems. Overall I am considerably worse.

I started Rinvoq four months ago and a few days after starting this drug I could feel the difference in my joints!! For the last tw to three years I had a terrible flare up to the point where I needed assistance getting dress , bathing , hair .. I was on prednisone for years and gained so may weight and I had to keep getting the prednisone dosage higher due to the pain I was in. One day I saw the commercial on TV about Rinvoq and I researched this medicine and asked my RA physician about it . It was the best choice I made , my lab work has been good numbers fell unbelievable!! My personal opinion about this medicine and all medicine have some kind of side affects and personally I think it depends on a person overall health conditions and other meds that are being taken along with this medicine. Thank God that I don’t have any other health issues and I work really hard at keeping my immune system strong. I was a home health aide for hospice for 32 years and I had to retire due to the joint pain and stiffness in my body. Rinvoq does work but like any medicine you have to give a chance. Good luck to everyone!!Read More Read Less
