Had been on Advair for 10 yrs and gladly switched 5/2019 as my out of pocket limit was going way up under new plan. Same drugs and dosage but the delivery to the system seems less effective. With Advair I could miss a dose or be a few hours late and I wouldnâ??t even notice it. Now, I need to be really careful to take it exactly 12 hrs apart as thereâ??s no margin. Also I think I have to be more c...

I have been using Advair fo years with perfect control. I haven't had to use a rescue inhaler for at least five years. During the first month on Wixela, I have had to use my rescue inhaler about 7 times, so my asthma is no longer controlled. I reviewed some of the studies, and Wixela should work, so I am surprised it hasn't worked for me, and don't know why.

The delivery system and powders are horrible, the 2 powders are heavy and unrefined and not combined. Iâ??ve tried to modify the way I inhale, but same results - powders drop into my my tongue and never make it to my bronchial and lungs. Totally useless.

I have been on Advair for over 10 years. Due to a change in my health insurance, I was told I had to use this instead. Neither the medication nor the dispenser on the inhaler work correctly. It is impossible to seal your lips properly around the mouthpiece, so I’m not sure I was even able to get all of the powder out. This was never an issue with the Advair inhalers. I currently have a Wixela inhaler that still has multiple puffs in it that cannot be used due to the broken lever. It is absolutely ridiculous that this inhaler is recommended/required by anyone in the health industry including insurance providers. Read More Read Less

Absolutely did not work. I felt my asthma that has been controlled for YEARS slowly deteriorate. I will refuse this product in the future. I would rather pay full price for name brand and actually have my asthma controlled than bother with this product.

Was on Advair for 10 years, then was switched to Wixela by my insurance company. Almost immediately, I noticed it didn't work as well in terms of breathing and cough control. Just switched back to Advair and am confident/hopeful my asthma will once again be under control. Don't know what the problem is, but Wixela just doesn't work as well.

As other patients have experienced, I was switched to the generic form of Advair, Wixela. As an asthmatic, Advair provided excellent results. With Wixela, I have degenerated into have coughing fits, and ongoing phlegm for months. My use of my rescue inhaler has also tripled. I’m calling by doctor to switch me back to the brand Advair.

I've taken Advair since its inception. It was prescribed twice a day. My breathing became near perfect. Even with insurance, it was expensive so I used it sparingly. As soon as the generic version hit the market, my pharmacist gave me Wixela (a lot less money). I trusted (my life!) the generic would be the same as Advair. My breathing has never been so bad. I live on Albuterol spray and my nebulizer. I thought my asthma finally caught up with me and I was nearing the end of my life. THEN I found this website. Immediately I called pharmacy and explained situation. They happily switched me back to Advair and informed me about the expense (over 1000% price difference). I picked Advair up 1 hour ago and took immediately. I am back to breathing normally!!! LIFE-SAVING difference. The pharmaceutical company should NOT play games with peopleâ??s lives. I have used Advair for years with great results and was switched by my ins company to Wixela. After four days of use it is not controlling my asthma symptoms and I have called my Dr. office for a different medication.

I have been on Advair since the early 2000's, so well over a decade. Advair was amazing, it kept my asthma under control, I didn't need to use a rescue inhaler at all unless I had a respiratory cold but other than that no need for a rescue inhaler at all! I was switched to Wixela back in August 2019. I started noticed I was getting itchy, small hives would show up. I am a hair stylist so I chalked it up to maybe there was hair in my clothes and it was irritating my skin. Days go by and the hives get worse, and MUCH BIGGER. I didn't even make the connection, my husband did because I came down stairs, 30 minutes after using Wixela and showed him the huge hives I broke out into. They were itchy, and mainly on my thighs to my calves. It was insane. I went to see my Dr that same day and showed her and told her that the only thing that I had changed was the Asthma medicine. Now I am having to file an appeal because my insurance won't give me the brand vs generic. I would much rather pay for generic if it worked for me. I only used it for about 2.5 weeks, since the hives kept getting worse and worse, who knows what else would have happened if I kept using Wixela. It's a TERRIBLE substitute for Advair they need to take it off the market. I have already submitted a complaint to the FDA about how crappy Wixela is. Pure crap is what it is.Read More Read Less

Although it supposedly has the same ingredients as the Advair Diskus 100/50, it does not have the same effect. I was looking forward to using a less expensive brand with a less expensive co-payment but the Wixela Inhub did not work well for me. I used it for 3-4 months and found myself wheezing more and using my rescue inhaler more. My asthma was not under control. I switched back to the Advair diskus even though my co-payment is higher.

I have used this drug for 1.5 months and have had such a bad time with coughing that I had the Dr change another medication that we thought might be causing it. The symptoms are really the SAME as before I started Advair 10 or more years ago. Of course now my insurance won't let me get ADVAIR until my 90 day supply has worn out.

Advair controlled my asthma symptoms for over a decade, then the pharmacy switched over to Wixela. Wheezing and coughing came back within a few weeks. Whatever this is, it is not a good replacement for advair. I'm hoping it won't cost too much when I ask my doctor to write a no substitutions script for Advair.

Drugstore switched me to Wixela in April (same copay).when I began wheezing after several years with no symptoms I didnt connect it to the medicine change. After 4 or 5 months of getting worse I finally realized the connection. Had my doctor issue rx with no substitutes and my wheezing quickly went away. Do not want. Keeping my Advair

If I can give it 0 stars, I will. Since taking this drug for the last 5 months, Ive lost control of my asthma, and Ive been having to use a rescue inhaler. Ive developed what seems to be oral thrush with localized toothache. While the thrush went away for the most part after stopping Wixela, I am now taking anti-fungal medicine. I am back on Advair as of a week ago. I immediately felt the difference but Im still trying to wean myself off the rescue inhaler. Its very important that if this is happening to you as you take Wixela to please tell your doctor. Read More Read Less

Iâ??m an asthma patient who has successfully used advair for many years (20?). Itâ??s made a huge difference. My insurance switched me to Wixela and I got very sick while using it. The way I have in the past if Iâ??d missed a dose or two of advair. Iâ??m really not sure if wixela contains the same meds and the same quality of meds as the advair. But if the problem isnâ??t there I believe the difference is the inferior delivery system. Wixela is more awkward to use than advair and I find that it doesnâ??t feel as if it gets as deep into my lungs. Though I try. I could really feel the advair powder hit my lungs and I donâ??t with wixela. I was out of town when I got sick and my husband shipped me some brand name advair I still had in reserve Immediately I felt improved and Iâ??m now mostly recovered. Iâ??ll take it for a few more days and then save the true advair for the next emergency. Itâ??s going to be a royal battle with insurance to try to get more brand name advair. I dread it and Iâ??m not sure I will succeed. But you have to breathe. Read More Read Less

I have no idea if this works or not. I had the first diskus replaced because the counter did not work. Today I picked up another one and the same thing. Not surprising since it is the same batch number. Cost the same as the brand Advair which is ridiculous.

Insurance switched me to Wixela from Advair 3 months ago . Initially I was pleased by the lower copay, but within a few days began wheezing. I've had asthma since birth, and it has been well controlled by Advair for 10 years now, and figured I must be having a bout of hay fever. Then the lever on the Wixela hub jammed, so I used an old Advair that had a remaining dose. By that evening I realized I wasn't wheezing any longer. I wonder if this has something to do with the device itself. I find it MUCH harder to breath in from the Wixela hub, so perhaps this means I can't get the full dose in. Whatever the reason, once I went back to Wixela The wheezing started again, and worsened to the point where I was using albuterol again. Prior to this, hadn't used the rescue inhaler for many months. Something is wrong here. Much as I'd love to pay less for a generic, wheezing is not worth it.Read More Read Less

This medication made me feel absolutely horrible. I was very short of breath and it felt like my lungs were half the size and constricted. Within a few days of not taking Wixela, I was feeling much better, but still relying heavily on my rescue inhaler. Currently waiting to get Advair back, but be prepared for insurance to put up a fight.

Insurance forces me to switch from Advair 500 to Wixela. After only being on it a few days I became so short of breath. I ended up at Dr and needed prednisone as well as round the clock nebulizer treatments for the significant wheezing. Neither got rid of severe shortness of breath or wheezing after 2 weeks even. Went and bought Advair out of pocket and feel so much better again! Wixela is not even close to the same as Advair, should be off the market!!!

Since using this generic,I have had horrific breathing problems that I haven't had in 20 years....... it's a HORRIBLE generic....... please take it off the market and allow us to choose ADVAIR without charging us thousands of dollars to do so....... It's a horrible and scary thing to not be able to breath.....
