Had been on Advair for 10 yrs and gladly switched 5/2019 as my out of pocket limit was going way up under new plan. Same drugs and dosage but the delivery to the system seems less effective. With Advair I could miss a dose or be a few hours late and I wouldnâ??t even notice it. Now, I need to be really careful to take it exactly 12 hrs apart as thereâ??s no margin. Also I think I have to be more c...

I have been using Advair fo years with perfect control. I haven't had to use a rescue inhaler for at least five years. During the first month on Wixela, I have had to use my rescue inhaler about 7 times, so my asthma is no longer controlled. I reviewed some of the studies, and Wixela should work, so I am surprised it hasn't worked for me, and don't know why.

Add me to the list of people whose asthma was well controlled (in my case for 23 years) with Advair but, after two weeks of using Wixella, I needed my rescue inhaler multiple times daily, was hoarse to the point where I couldn’t talk on the phone and had a persistent cough. I fought Express Scripts for three months with my doctor’s help and finally got approval to get Advair at my local AFB, only because I have BCBS as my primary insurance and Tricare as my secondary. Within two weeks back on Advair I was significantly improved; after a month I was back to where I had been. Wixella is not only useless, it’s harmful. I found these reviews while I was going through that and they were so validating that I wanted to add mine, even though it’s mostly a repeat of what others have said. Read More Read Less

Was on Advair my whole life, switched to Wixela because insurance stopped covering name brand. Had to use my rescue inhaler more than ever recently. Basically just feeling short of breath all day long. Switched to Prasco (Authorized Generic for Advair) and I am doing better.

Advair for more than 15 years with good results. Rare had to use the rescue inhaler. With Wixela I had to use the rescue four and five times a day. But worse, Wixela causes serious urinary track problems (feels like a UTI, but there's no infection) Very serious urinary track pain. This drug doesn't work and causes serious side effects, but now that Advair is no longer available it's the only drug my insurance will cover.

I was on Symbicort for asthma for over 15 years. My asthma was well controlled and very very rarely had to use a rescue inhaler. Insurance stopped paying for it so they made me try Wixela. The delivery mechanism is horrible. The first time I took it the powder got stuck in my throat and gagged me sending me into a coughing fit for 10 minutes. The next time was better but I didn't feel like I got any medicine at all. I had to use the rescue inhaler twice that day. After the first month of using Wixela and having to use the rescue inhaler at least once a day I got put on Breo. It's expensive ($78) but it does work better than Wixela but not as good as Symbicort.Read More Read Less

I'm now using my inhalers 4 times a day. I lost my voice, when I cam talk, I sound like a man. My throat is covered with thrush. I have blisters covering my gums. I wasn't told about it causing bronchitis. I've had that for two months! I've never felt so exhausted and sick in my entire life. I've been pretty much laying in bed these past few months. I've had to cut my hours for work in half. This drug should not be on the market!

I have been on Advair for so many years and my asthma is well controlled. My insurance has stopped covering the Advair and was made to switch to Wixela. Well, this Wixella is complete garbage. I've had a racing heart, and a strange burning from my throat to my lungs, now I need my rescue inhaler all the time. I'm out of breath just going up a small incline with my dog. This is criminal the quality of the so-called generic. I see a class action lawsuit coming. I have stopped taking the Wixela and am back on Advair at my own cost. The quality of life outweighs the price. Seems to be a strategy of the pharmaceutical companies and insurance companies. Now they're both making more money. Big surprise!Read More Read Less

Insurance no longer covered Symbicort which worked excellent for me with zero issues. Since starting Wixella 1/24 I’ve endured ENT issues. Ear infections including burst ear drum, tinnitus, hoarseness, excessive mucus, 2 respiratory illnesses that took weeks to clear. Also, increased BP readings. I am an active healthy gardener, bicyclist, over 60 female and this drug has aged me over the last few months. Shame on Insurance companies dictating what drugs are available to us depending on absorbent costs! This changes how we live life! Read More Read Less

There needs to be a class action lawsuit against the company that makes Wixela. Using it was like NOT taking any medication at all to treat my asthma-- it doesn't work. It supposedly has the same ingredients so why doesn't it work? I had a very hard time breathing-- it freaked me out. Got back on Advair until Medicare took over with their MPDP (Medicare Prescription Drug Program) and they've managed to deny me getting refills

I had been on Advair 250/50 for years. My asthma was well under control. I skipped doses before by mistake and I had no issues with my breathing. Now that my insurance will no longer cover it I am on Wixela. I take it as prescribed but I still go through the day feeling as if I had taken no medication at all. It is sad.

Lifelong asthma gal, have been using advair for most of my life but was using the 250/50 dosage and would sometimes forget to take it in the morning so I wasnt doing twice like prescribed. My dr had the idea to switch to wixela inhub 500/50 so I could only take once a day and let me tell you the switch was pretty dramatic. I am struggling to breath all the time now, wheezing constantly, taking inhaler like 4/5 times A DAY. Its only been about 2 months and I'm done struggling to breathe so I had to switch back to advair 250/50. Not sure how Wixela is different but boy oh boy could my body tell the difference. I sometimes felt like I was breathing in no medicine and then another dose will send powder to the back of my throat and makes me cough horribly.

Our insurance stopped paying for Advair and we had to switch to Wixella, which I don’t think is working well I find myself wheezing here and there and it’s a shame because the cost of the disc is very expensive but I really miss Advair and want to find another medication I am not happy with Wixela.

I was switched from Advair to Wixela about 10 days ago and quickly noticed a dramatic rapid decline in condition. My borderline controlled asthma has been replaced by dispair and misery. I haven't felt anywhere near like this since starting my current combination of RX nearly a year ago. Just getting through the work day is difficult now and my productive is suffering. It is absurd how quickly and dramatically my condition has changed. Starting Wixela is like having the light switch flipped off even though it is supposed to be the same drug. A more comprehesnive review of Advair vs Wixela is needed for those suffering severe Asthma. It just doesn't seem to work.Read More Read Less

HORRIBLE!!! The particles are highly irritative. Advair is not on Medicare drug plans--doing well for 20+ years. Now I am coughing all the time and feel shortness of breath. USA patients are exploited by unconscionable GREEDY Big Pharma, and priced out of Advair, while the rest of the world pays peanuts for Advair; so the Medicare drug plan pushes this generic "wanna-be" medicine on us. Shameful greed. I would like to throw this inhaler and hit some greedy bigwig in the head! Oooo, would feel so good. .... THIS IS NOT ADVAIR!!!!!!!!!Read More Read Less

I had to read the instructions a couple of times to make sure I was using it correctly however, I’ve been using it for almost 2 weeks And it seems like I have a tight ace bandage wrapped around my ribs. My chest is so tight after using it and it seems like I’m coughing more which I guess cleaning out my lungs would be the purpose of it? One of my concerns is you’re supposed to immediately rinse out your mouth after using it, so is it bad for my mouth, but good for my lungs? I’ve had to use my rescue inhaler a lot more. I triggered the inhaler and dumped it on a piece of paper to see what’s in it and it’s actually a crystalline type powder with little black shards not sure how good that is for my lungs I have found no benefit from using this just weight gain and sore ribsRead More Read Less

Advair controlled my asthma to the point that I was completely asymptomatic. I've been on Wixela for several weeks now and my breathing has deteriorated to the point I'm having trouble walking even short distances. Just getting ready for work in the morning leaves me out of breath. I have become effectively disabled by asthma. Wixela is horrible.
