Had been on Advair for 10 yrs and gladly switched 5/2019 as my out of pocket limit was going way up under new plan. Same drugs and dosage but the delivery to the system seems less effective. With Advair I could miss a dose or be a few hours late and I wouldnâ??t even notice it. Now, I need to be really careful to take it exactly 12 hrs apart as thereâ??s no margin. Also I think I have to be more c...

I have been using Advair fo years with perfect control. I haven't had to use a rescue inhaler for at least five years. During the first month on Wixela, I have had to use my rescue inhaler about 7 times, so my asthma is no longer controlled. I reviewed some of the studies, and Wixela should work, so I am surprised it hasn't worked for me, and don't know why.

I was so happy for a generic for Advair! I e been using Wixela for three weeks. I am experiencing increased shortness of breath and finger, leg and toe cramping. If I don't go back to Advair I fear I may end up in rhe hospital.

My asthma has been well controlled with as air for most of my life. When my pharmacy switched me over to Wixela, I was initially excited because there was at last a cheaper generic. After using Wixela, my quality of breathing instantly declined and I started blowing threw my rescue inhalers with little relief. My insurance company wonâ??t pay for Advair because there is Wixela as a generic, so I am left short of breath because of it. I literally wake of in the morning coughing because I canâ??t breath. It is obviously not the same medication.Read More Read Less

I am half-way into the first inhub (500/50) for COPD. Have used Advair since it first came out (about 2002) Since using Wixela, short of breath and coughing are the routine. I need to use the nebulizer 1-2 times per day now (not before I used Wixela) Will try to get back on Advair. To use the device, you must press down on a lever; this is hard to do on some activations-glad I do not have arthritis. In summary, it is not effective, hard to use and I am not happy.

Chiming in on all the other negative reviews. After one month had to go back on Advair. VERY disappointing.

Does not work as well as Advair. Tightness of chest, difficulty breathing, less overall stamina when walking. Had no problems in the over 10 years that I took Advair. I was changed without notice by my insurance company and am taking steps to allow me to get Advair again. Costs more but it works.

When I was first reading these reviews, I was skeptical that the Advair company was just reviewing bombing this product since the generic was released. After 3 weeks of using Wixela, I couldn't take it anymore. I could barely breathe, I couldn't run long distances anymore, I used my emergency inhaler for the first time in 8 years. After last night of breathing difficultly and feeling like I was being choked, I finally went and got my Advair filled again. After one puff, all my symptoms went away. I'll just start paying the $170 for Advair again. This Wixela is not the same medication as Advair. Wixela needs to be removed from the market. I'd recommend everyone to get a prior authorization from their primary care doctor. This will help make Advair more affordable, even though it's still pricey. Advair is in every way, a far superior product. I'll just have to start budgeting in the cost into my finances. Read More Read Less

By the end of my third day using Wixela, I began noticing unusual breathing difficulty simply performing typical household activities. I came looking for Wixela reviews such as these to see if anyone else was feeling the way I was. Looks like I'm not the only one. I've used Advair 250 / 50 with much success in controlling my symptoms for many years now. The same dosage of Wixela doesn't seem to be doing it for me I will likely switch back to Advair until more of the verdict is in.

I have noticed lack of daily breathing problems versus using Advair. I also 1,000% dislike the upside down way to use this inhaler. I believe that the current disk I'm using is malfunctioning and not advancing. The slide is very tight to the end and only sounds of snapping at the end. I have taken Advair for 4 years before this POS was forced upon me. Unfortunately I can't rate with negative stars.

I dont know what they did to dumb down Advair when making a generic brand but Wixela is NOT, in any way, as effective. With Advair, it was almost like I was cured of asthma. I do not get the same results with Wixela. please work out the kinks in the lab guys, I don't want to end up in an early grave <:(

Wixela doesn't work at all. I'm usually on advair for my asthma and occasional bronchitis and it worked wonderfully for years. Now my doc gave me the generic and I'm so much worse. I'm having to use my nebulizer multiple times a day, I am short of breath, coughing profusely, wheezing 24/7 even after a BT or inhaler. I'm beyond frustrated, and will have to go to urgent care to get a steroid shot. DON'T SETTLE FOR WIXELA!

As with others, I have been using Advair as a controller medication for my asthma. My insurance company switched me to the generic Wixela. My asthma symptoms kept getting progressively worse. I thought it was exposure to allergens, but I felt better not using Wixela than after using it. Thought I was imagining it, but then paid out of pocket for a month of Advair and miraculously was asthma free again. FDA really needs to investigate this.

Similar to the experience of others my asthma was well controlled until the switch to Wixela. I have been using my rescue inhaler daily and am getting worse on this medication even when trying the higher dose. I am now trying to get insurance to pay for advair again!

I have been on Advair for years and have considered myself well controlled. When I started this Wilexa I became short of breath and then severe heart palpitations. I ended going to ER and then had to see a cardiologist. I was changed to a non generic inhaler and it took 7 days to feel back to normal. I was also put on a heart medication temporarily to stop the severe PVCs. I am back to normal now and will never take Wilexa again. There is something wrong with this generic medication. FDA please investigate this medication. Read More Read Less

Due to a "perfect storm" of events, I was hospitalized for 4 days, & was discharged with prescription for "generic" Advair. The pharmacy that filled it gave me PRASCO 250/50 Diskus. It worked great for 2 mo. 2 wks ago I picked up script again, & inhaler was changed to WIXELA. This stuff doesn't work. My normal O2 sat. level was consistently running 93-94, now stubbornly sits at 90. If I fall further, Drs will slap me back on oxygen. The top part of my chest feels tighter now, & I'm having prblms with lethargy & much more coughing. The delivery system itself is weird (vertical, not usual horizontal) not to mention ratchety -- always feels as if it doesn't really click or connect. Doesn't feel as if it can be inhaled as far, just an odd, powdery residue/taste at back of throat. Found out today it was NOT my insurance, but the pharmacy I use has gone to this instead. Found diff. pharmacy with PRASCO, & immed. transferred script!Read More Read Less

Hospitalized 12 days with wet rolling cough and rapid heartbeat, nausea, poor saturation values. Extreme inflammation in lungs. Admitted to ER in Vtach. Started May 19th with sore throat then started coughing. After reading everything here, this stuff HAS TO BE RECALLED. Stage 4 COPD is bad enough without added burdens.OBW I've been dealing with it for 20 years... successfully.

Since I switched to Wixela from Advair 100/50 I got heart palpitations and shortness of breath. Just getting out of a chair, going up steps, taking the dog out caused shortness of breath. Let alone going for my daily 4 mile run. DO NOT USE THIS DRUG. Ive been on Advair for 20 years and will go back on it or quit it altogether.

There is NO comparison to Advair. This Wixela does not work at all. I feel like I'm taking a placebo and I cannot afford to be without my asthma meds. I've had asthma my entire life and have been prescribed Advair for the last 30 years. It was the first asthma medication that suited my needs (no jitters or racey side effects). This will not due.

I cannot complete my 2 mile run. I am out of breath all the time in my normal life (walking fast, stairs...). Going to bed is also hard for me to catch my breath. Insurance will not approve advair now bc of the generic. I am starting an appeal with them.
