Had been on Advair for 10 yrs and gladly switched 5/2019 as my out of pocket limit was going way up under new plan. Same drugs and dosage but the delivery to the system seems less effective. With Advair I could miss a dose or be a few hours late and I wouldnâ??t even notice it. Now, I need to be really careful to take it exactly 12 hrs apart as thereâ??s no margin. Also I think I have to be more c...

I have been using Advair fo years with perfect control. I haven't had to use a rescue inhaler for at least five years. During the first month on Wixela, I have had to use my rescue inhaler about 7 times, so my asthma is no longer controlled. I reviewed some of the studies, and Wixela should work, so I am surprised it hasn't worked for me, and don't know why.

I am a long-time Advair user (more than 20 years) who recently switched to Wilexa Inhub. I must say that I was nervous about this change based on the many negative reviews on this site. I asked my pharmacist about this and she was surprised at how negative people have been. She has filled many prescriptions for Wilexa Inhub and has no complaints from her customers. I have been using Wilexa for about 3 weeks and have no issues. I know this isn't a long time, but with Advair if I missed a dose I could feel the effects the next day. I am doing just as well, and maybe even better, on Wilexa than I was when using Advair. I bought one month of Wilexa out-of-pocket to try it out and have been very satisfied. At the end of the month I will ask my doctor to change my prescription to Wilexa. The cost savings is pretty significant.Read More Read Less

I was on Advair for years, then switched to Breo for the past couple of years. I had been asymptomatic on both of those. I felt so good, I never had to use my rescue inhaler, I even wondered if i needed asthma medication. When my co-pay increased recently I switched to Wixela. Within a week my breathing became noticeably worse, I cough at times, and I've started using my rescue inhaler again. I've been on Wixela for almost a month and a half. I can't tolerate feeling this way again, and will be switching back hopefully tomorrow. I'm extremely dissatisfied with Wixela, as my breathing has went from perfectly controlled pre-Wixela, to needing to keep my rescue inhaler with me continuously because since I started Wixela my asthma symptoms are in poor control. This product needs to be investigated. Read More Read Less

I don't understand the whole powder substance going into airways. That seems dangerous. Versus an inhaler that dissipates as you inhale. The powdery taste rather residue left in mouth is horrid. Why do we need to rinse our mouths and not swallow.what if I was working long hours no change to rinse and definitely not spitting it out in front of others. I have t quite noticed a huge difference it is making. At times I feel I can breathe freely nothing weighting on my chest. I have notice heart has some weird twinges and my extremities feel colder. I was using Advair for almost 20 years, and my asthma was well controlled. I was happy to switch to Wixela ten weeks ago, due to a reduced co-pay, but my asthma symptoms have worsened alarmingly. I am going to ask my Dr. to switch me back to Advair!

I have already reviewed Wixela once before, as soon as I started having severe asthma from the medication. I reported to FDA. FDA wanted to have OK to send my name to the company that makes Wixela. I heard from the company via telephone and mail. They were rude and really didn't want to hear from me and stated they had never had any complaints. I answered questions they asked on the phone and they told me they would let me know what happens with their investigation. I got a letter from them and they apparently they did their own investigation! They came up with no problems with their own medication. I will need to contact the FDA again to let them know of their findings. I understand they company was slated to make billions the first year of release of Wixela. Perhaps they are waiting to take off the market until they make their billions? Where is the FDA in all of this? I feel abandoned by the FDA. Read More Read Less

I started using this medication in May and since that time my breathing ability has drastically declined. Prior to taking this I used Advair 100/50 and my symptoms were well managed and after five months on Wixela I am so short of breath I can no longer do even the most simple things. I almost feel like I could be inhaling baby powder and have the same results as I am seeing with this medication. The difference in this and the name brand Advair is beyond remarkable. This morning I used an old Advair inhaler that still had 8 doses left on it and I almost feel back to "normal." I cannot believe I struggled so much these last few months before I realized that this medication was the cause. PLEASE.....if you find that you are having any of the problems as people here are reporting, please, report it to the FDA. I can't stress enough how important it is to report these issues to the FDA. I just spoke to a woman there who said that reporting by users is the only way they have of knowing when a drug is not working or if there are these issues with a drug. It doesn't take that many reports to get a drug taken off the market. In my experience, this drug greatly diminished my quality of life over the five months I have used it. Please, if you have had issues with Wixela, make a report to the FDA so that they are aware of it. Read More Read Less

I agree with others that it often seems that NO medicine is actually delivered from the inhaler. There appears to be something wrong with the design of the inhaler.

My pharmacy automatically switched me to Wixela when it was released. I have had very bad experience with Wixela. My asthma symptoms have worsened and I have constant cough. I am switching back to Advair. It will be worth the extra co-pay in order to breathe normally again. No idea how this was approved by FDA!

As others have stated, the difference between Advair and Wixela is measurable. I have lost excellent control of my asthma, and will be paying the higher co-pay for Advair for the sake of my health!

Been on Advair for years and years, and had wonderful results. New generic is horrible. The delivery seems like I’m not getting any med, and if I am not careful in timing or if I miss a dose, I am wheezing. I am calling the dr. to request no substitution. This drug is worthless, I will pay the full amount for my Advair.

This is terrible! I have had incredible results and asthma control with ADVAIR for over 10 years in the worst US climates. Since being switched to generic, Wixela by Mylan due automatic insurance/ pharmacy requirement 6 weeks ago- I am wheezing, short of breath, and have seen a great reduction in my ability to breath as I have been able to effectively do with Advair. After seeing these reviews I am officially convinced. It is completely unacceptable that this drug should even be offered as a comparable controller medication for asthma. It has a 100% lack of efficacy for asthmatics and you cannot skimp on compounds that assist in treating such serious indications as this. I am also reporting to the FDA for lack of efficacy.Read More Read Less

I have been using Advair for 10 years and have had no asthma symptoms since i began taking it. Iâ??ve been using Wixela for a few weeks and once again am back to having asthma problems and a need for an albuterol inhaler!l Wixela truly does not work as well as Advair. Iâ??m going to see my physician to request Advair. As others have stated, I was given Wixela from the pharmacy without even being asked if I wanted to switch. The FDA needs to check into this.
