Had been on Advair for 10 yrs and gladly switched 5/2019 as my out of pocket limit was going way up under new plan. Same drugs and dosage but the delivery to the system seems less effective. With Advair I could miss a dose or be a few hours late and I wouldnâ??t even notice it. Now, I need to be really careful to take it exactly 12 hrs apart as thereâ??s no margin. Also I think I have to be more c...

I have been using Advair fo years with perfect control. I haven't had to use a rescue inhaler for at least five years. During the first month on Wixela, I have had to use my rescue inhaler about 7 times, so my asthma is no longer controlled. I reviewed some of the studies, and Wixela should work, so I am surprised it hasn't worked for me, and don't know why.

Like other reviewers, I thought that maybe I have a respiratory-like cold for several weeks, but I believe it's the change to Wixela which happened in November.

I just returned from the doctor. Wixela was substituted at the pharmacy because of it being the generic equivalent of ADVAIR.I recently got so out of control with my breathing issues..I was certain something else was wrong.ABSOLUTELY NOT..Wixela does not work. Ineffective and has thrown my last few weeks into an unnecessary disruption .

I’m glad I discovered this discussion. I recently switched from Advair 100/50 (which I had been taking for many years). I have had the same experience as others, especially with difficulty breathing. I stopped using it for two days and the breathing problems subsided dramatically. I’ve requested my physician to change me back to Advair, even though it is a higher cost. The results will be well worth it for me,

I have taken Advair for many years and recently was offered the generic Wixela. I decided to try it because it was cheaper and boy was that a mistake!! 3 week in and Iâ??m having horrid breathing issues. Switching back to brand name advair this week! Anyone who is considering switching, DONâ??T DO IT! Wixela doesnâ??t work!

Switched because I thought it would be cheaper. Same copay as Advair. Day 2, breathing was getting worse. Day 6 I canâ??t do anything. Less medication than Advair. Less powder, I dumped it out to see. Not enough getting to lungs. Advair will be here tomorrow. Wixela also gives me an immediate headache when I take it. Terrible medication.

I too was using Advair with excellent control of my asthma. 6I have given this drug, Wilexa, ample time..several months and I will return to Advair. I cough frequently and have increased sputum production. I use cough syrup and cough drops all the time. And used my nebulizer and rescue inhaler more than I have in years. Unfortunately, I have 3 refills of Wilexa on hand but plan on switching back to Advair. This coughing is not healthy! Ill pay the extra for Advair. I am a retired RN.

It been almost a month now that ive started using wixela,, and i already notice shortness of breath, in doing normal tasks where as before i didn't have any problems. I have also notice more coughing and more mucus,, i had been on advair for 6 years and never experienced whats been happening over the last 30 days,. I thought maybe it was just me but now that i see these reviews many are talking the same symptoms, there is something different between advair and this wixela,

WOW! until I stumbled upon these reviews, I had given up hope I have used Wixela for the past six months and have been struggling with severe laryngitis off and on, since I started the drug. I have previously used Advair for years successfully, with no issues whatsoever and was able to live a full life including running and playing tennis several times a week. Switched to wixela due to a change of insurance. Thank God that my employer has changed insurance plans again, enabling me to return to using advair. I work in Sales, and chronic laryngitis has been hindering me from doing my job, that I enjoy. I am about to make the switch back to advair tomorrow. I will check back in to give an update on my voice after a few weeks. Crossing my fingers that things improve. I have been worrying about losing my job, and I am pretty sure that Wixela is to blame. Stay tuned......... Read More Read Less

I was an Advair for a decade and my asthma was well controlled - I used my Albuterol backup inhaler about once a week. I switched to Wixela for about four months and found I was needed to use Albuterol about 2-3 times a day. It took me a while to realize the relationship. I want back to Advair and not I'm back to Albuterol backup at most once a week.

Within a week I was gasping for air. Had been on Advair for maybe 8 years. When I told the pharmacist my problem he said that Wixela was the same as Advair. I said not on your life. Spent the entire summer trying to get back my breathing capacity as it was. Wont switch again.

I have been using Advair for 16 years. When I refilled my prescription a few months ago (I order a 3 month supply), the pharmacy gave me Wixela. Normally, I am all about generic prescriptions and was happy to try the new product. After 3 months of using Wixela, I can confidently say this drug does not work. On Advair, my asthma was perfectly controlled. I rarely (once or twice every 6 months) had to use my rescue inhaler. Now, I am using my rescue inhaler daily and have even had to break out the nebulizer. I will be asking to switch back to Advair. I have a friend who had the same experience and will be switching back to Advair as well.Read More Read Less

I have had asthma my entire life and took a while to get the correct medication and dosage that controlled my symptoms. I had been taking Advair and Spiriva for a few years with zero symptoms or issues, never having to use my rescue inhaler once. In the past few months, my insurance company stopped covering Advair and switched me to Wixela. Within 2 months, all my symptoms returned... shortness of breath, chest heaviness, constant coughing, unable to sleep during the night and overall discomfort of not being able to breathe. This generic version is not the same as the brand name and is an awful substitute. Unfortunately, my insurance company still will not cover Advair and now I am in an awful and scary situation of figuring out what medications (after numerous failed drugs) will help me in the same way as I continue to take a medication that makes my asthma worse every day. I used Advair for over 10 years and my asthma was controlled so well there were times when I wondered if I even still needed medication at all. I only had to take half the recommended dose of Advair each day. I was recently switched to Wixela for insurance purposes, and while I noticed some difference immediately, after one week I had a return of significant asthma symptoms. I started having to use Albuterol for the first time in years, and I even had to visit an urgent care for treatment on vacation. I do not know whether it is the dispenser or the drug itself, but Wixela was not effective for my asthma. I am back on Advair now with no issues. Read More Read Less

I have used Advair Discus for several years & switched to Wixela Inhub for cost savings. The Wixela is leaving me with a sense of not having taken any medication at all. I am gaining relief only when I use my PerAir rescue inhaler.

I used Advair for 10 years with no problems, never had to use an inhaler and because of insurance increased and stopped covering Advair Iâ??ve had to switch to Wixela. It DOES NOT work. Iâ??m wheezing and feel like I need to use a nebulizer for breathing treatments. Iâ??ve stopped all exercising for fear of asthma worsening and my quality of life is poor now. Iâ??m so depressed that I canâ??t afford Advair.

I used Advair and Symbicort with no issues but switched to Wixela because of the cost and my wheezing stopped but now I am experiencing multiple side effects (constant coughing, spitting up clear mucus, not sleeping well, and soar throat. I will not be taking it anymore and going to switch back to Symbicort.

I been using Advair for a long time with excellent results, asthma flare ups have been under control. Wixela not only does not control asthma flares very well but it also gives me cold sores in my tongue which are very painful.
