I've taken 3 doses, one month apart. My hips and joints are killing me. I have been migraine free, however I am so uncomfortable. I was told the only side effects were regarding the injection site. That is impossible, since all drugs can have various side effects It wasn't until I read other reviews that I correlated my joint pain to this drug.

Day 14, the headache is felt worse upon awaking. Today like a 6. Not working for me. Plus, my left hand is hurting for no reason. Like a tendinitis or something and no reason for that to occur.

It increased my anxiety, I was bloated, gained weight. Got terrible knee pain, could not walk and had to get X-ray. Inflamed my Bunyan on opposite foot to knee. I felt weird, lightheaded and was depressed easy, had fits of crying at work. I had five injections and had knee pain and weird feeling in my body for the five months. It helped my migraines that I got everyday for a month but the side affects are not worth it for me. I was extremely concerned with this medication and felt like a lab ??. Terrible experience, I prey for all people with migraines and mental health issues that it has not damaged our brains. ????Read More Read Less

I only been on this 3 weeks this time. 2 years ago it worked great after 5 months i could eat chocolate, ice cream all my trigger foods and about 7 months was still in effect I think for 8 months after first shot. It helped back pain, neck pain, helped my mood too. It did cause increased appetite. I take garcinia Cambodia for that I gained 7 pounds first time. This time I got slightly cloudy the day of injection and some times I feel that way but its fading. My mood again improved. I still get migraines at 3 weeks so its not long enough time yet to say.Read More Read Less

I started Emgality in Feb 2022. My last shot was in June and I will never again be prescribed another injectable CGRP. Everywhere online it says the only side effects you get are mild… wrong. I gained weight (I work out a ton and eat super healthy and haven’t had any weight fluctuation in more than 12 yrs), I started having aura migraines (terrifying while driving), and am experiencing hair loss and brain fog. The first 2 months were great. Migraines went from 10 a month to 1. Month 3 I had 5 migraines. I’m now back to 10. I recommend a deep dive on Reddit and Twitter before starting this drug. I’ve never felt worse and have suffered from migraines for nearly 40 yrs. Oh, and the half-life on this drug is forever. If will take 5+ months to get it out of my system. Read More Read Less

Was on and off Emgality for years. Stopped due to side effects. It worked well for a while and then peculiar things began happening; finger turned blue, weird, never had before joint pain and a constant migraine, especially on the back of my head that appears every night around 8:00 p.m. Call it weird, but the Emgality is the only new medication added to my mix. Sure, try it and see if helps you but if you wind up with the weirdest things happening to your body that are not like you, it is definitely the Emgality!Read More Read Less

This medication did help my migraines however I started have TIA's and A-fib. I haven't taking this medication in almost 2.5 years and I have yet to feel any better. I'm in constant constant pain. If I can be honest, I feel like I'm slowing dying but not dying. I have a constant high ringing in my ears. Muscle cramps have gotten out of control at times. My nuero side effects have been the worst. When I have , what we now call a "spell". I have problems talking, walking and even mini like seizures. I absolutely regret ever taking this medication!!!!Read More Read Less

I have suffered from migraines since I was 10. Tried several preventatives and then only found that zomig would give me any relief 85% of the time I got a headache as non of the preventatives worked. I got an average of 10 migraines a month that required taking medication. Just going into my second month dose of emgality. My first month taking this I have only had 1 migraine that I took cambia for and it took it away. Didn’t even have to take my zomig. My main trigger is the weather changes where I live and this past month has been major pressure changes and I was shocked to wake up migraine free! Fingers crossed that emgality continues to work for me! I had zero side effects and no soreness at injection site after shot. However the needle does hurt to get. Read More Read Less

I gave it 3 months. It gave me a rash under my boobs and right foot. The worst thing was, it made my migraines much worse. I was so disappointed as I'd waited so long for this. I've accepted that my body just needs to have migraines and that's how it is. I've worked around my reaction to each migraine and how to be more peaceful with them. There's a book called 'Living with a disability' - Olivia Bowden to help you through it.

Hi, so far only more side effects than good results... like everyone else here the same side effects, constipation, pain in my lower back, leg joints... dizziness (ohh btw I've already had an accident with the car so be careful when you drive !) At the same time I am taking other heavy medication for the cluster headache so I will keep trying emgality for a while and give it a fair chance and give an extra review later. good luck everyone!...

I have been dealing with migraines for so many years and tried so many medications. My doctor prescribed Emgality. While I'm very hesitant in taking new meds as I always seem to end up with a bad side effect, I wish I would have read the stories from these other patients on here as I would NOT have agreed to this med. It has been since April 2022 from the first injections. I have vertigo, loud horrid ringing in my ears, constipation which was the only thing I was warned about. I catch colds like crazy and was finally told by my primary care doc that this drug lowers your immune system which I was not told prior. The brain fog is horrid. I feel at times I'm loosing it. It creates such an anxiety in me that I'm now having panick attacks because of how it makes my head feel. The joints in my body hurt badly. This is just not me and I dont like how it feel one bit. I'm tired ALL the time. And that is definitely not me. I truly hope this drug gets out of my system quickly as I will NOT be taking my next injection. As for the migraines, it seemed like it was helping in the beginning but they became worse just of last month. My doctor tells me the vertigo has nothing to do with this med. That I just need rest. I was fine except for the migraines until this med. I'm glad to hear for some people it is working. Everyone's body is different. As for me, I wouldnt recommend this to anyone. I would rather deal with my migraine than feel so out of sorts. Not feel like me. A migraine goes away. The effects of this med has been two weeks already for me. My migraines dont last that many days. Read More Read Less

The shots are annoying and they hurt (not that big of a deal). I took the loading dose and one more shot after that. It made me so constipated that i threw up on 3 separate occasions. I experienced many other negative side effects for nominal improvement. Only way I can explain it is that it felt like poison in my body. I developed screaming tinnitus in my left ear and I still have it 5 months later. I don’t know if it will ever go away. This is a dangerous drug in my opinion. I wouldn’t recommend it to my worst enemy. Read More Read Less

I have been using this medication for 9 months now and it has helped me tremendously. The only side effect I notice is pain at the injection site when injecting. After that I only have slight soreness around the injection site for about 2 hours afterwords. The medication worked immediately for me. I used to have roughly 5 migraines a week and since starting this medication with a combination of propranolol I have had none. It has honestly been a life saver. I have yet to notice any other side effects mentioned in the other reviews. Read More Read Less

Causes autoimmune diseases. Took it for about a year thinking the side effects would subside, but they got worse especially with my last injection. I can’t even function anymore. My nerve pain is so intense, I had to quit my job. My back pain is so bad now I can barely walk. Feels like I’m dying everyday. Messed with my immune system so badly. Everything makes me sick now. I never used to get sick. It’s been months with no relief. My veins are all inflamed and constricted, heart palpitations. Toes and hands started turning blue. My leg still hurts from where I gave myself the injection over 5 months ago. I don’t have good days anymore. I used to go to the gym 4 to 6 times a week. I haven’t been there in months. I’m basically just waiting to die. I turned into a crippled bed ridden old lady.! Do not take this! Cgrp regulates our veins and all of our organs. We need it. Inhibiting it is very very bad. They are trying to depopulate and get rich off of killing us in the process. Evil evil people. I am so angry my doctor told me to take this and the only reaction is injection site….without doing further investigating on what it actually does to the body. I am trying to stay optimistic and find that nitric oxide helps my veins a little….but it’s hard to know you now have a lifelong autoimmune disease and will never feel like yourself again. I used to sing and perform in bands…can’t do that anymore. I constantly cancel plans or am late because it hurts to stand too long. I am going on disability. I spoke with two different women that had to get their ovaries removed (that was with the injection Aimovig), many other women have told me their lives have also been ruined from this drug. Lawsuits are in the works. One woman even said she was in the clinical trial for emgality and developed Mast cell disease. She reported it and there is no mention of it anywhere. She also says she has friends that developed autoimmune diseases from emgality as well. I doubt most people can last on these killer drugs more than a year without starting to get horrible side effects. I had a roommate that promised when he moved in, he would smoke outside because he knew it triggered my worst migraines. He did anyway when I constantly begged him to smoke outside. He is the reason I kept taking the emgality to avoid horrible 4-5 day migraines even through the bad side effects and I can’t help but feel resentment towards him as well. Even when I told him it gave me horrible side effects, he would yell at me to take it saying I’m better off not having migraines. I told him you have no idea how I feel on this. Im angry and I am having trouble letting go of it. Please pray for me. May God grant me the strength to forgive :( Read More Read Less

It definitely helped. No denying that. However, very painful and someone else has to do it. It does not prevent all migraines. I think it might have caused alot of my body to feel older Like with my joints . In the beginning I loved this medicine, but not so much now. And I just read that this was a product of chimera. Human and mice. humanized monoclonal antibody. Creepy. I'm quitting it.

I understand that this drug can be life changing for some people, and as someone who hoped she was one of those people, I do not wish to take that away from anyone. I just encourage caution when trying this drug, as side effects are not properly labelled and a small percentage of people will experience life-altering side effects. I was told constipation was the only thing I needed to look out for (lol). Since my second dose (it's been two and a half months now), I have been experiencing extreme brain fog to the point of having dissociative episodes. I have also had mood swings, aura, dizziness and nausea, weight gain, intermittent cold-like symptoms, and strange cardiovascular occurrences (abnormal breathing, irregular heart rate). This medication has destroyed my life and left me unable to function. There is a lot of propaganda out there promoting CGRP drugs (look at all the money they are making), but I encourage you to find an unbiased source of information on CGRP's role in the body before trying a drug that alters it.Read More Read Less

THIS IS AMAZING - please ignore ANY negative reviews on this medication. Myself, I have not noticed a single side effect, literally zero. My family and friends who I have recommended it to al say the exact same thing, no side effects. BUT SERIOUSLY I went from having 4-5 migraine days a WEEK, and during this time I was on beta blockers to prevent migraines and having to take rizatriptan and cambia multiple times a day, to literally the DAY I had my first emgality shot. Since that day I have not had a single migraine day. I don’t even have a headache any day. I can tell when it is nearing the end of the month and almost due for my next injection, as I tend to start getting pressure behind my eyes and temples, and maybe (rarely) I will get an actual headache. But overall I cannot reccomend this enough. The injection itself is super easy. I used to have a severe phobia of needles but over the years I have grown to just ‘not enjoy them’ but this is totally okay for me. At first I had a friend do it for me just cause I couldnt being myself to push the button myself, but by about the third injection I was good to do it myself. This goes into a fatty part of the body, NOT MUSCLE! I have found that pinching together some stomach fat works well, and kind of prop your self up 45 degrees but legs are up like you are laying down. I recommend taking the box out of the fridge about 45 minutes before you are going to inject it, it lets the liquid warm up and not feel so strange. Once you’re laying down and ready, you twist off the safety cap which I always do when it’s away from me so I never actually ever see the needle, and then place the wide base up against that belly fat pretty firmly. I find if I can feel the flared base against my skin I can really focus on that instead of the needle. Then unlock the button and push and hold it for 10 seconds or until the needle pops back up, it makes a click you’ll know the sound. The needle entering does not hurt at all, the first 3-4 seconds of the injection, I’m not going to lie, it stings. Not unbearable by any means but it is a decent amount of medication going in, and I like to believe that’s why it’s stinging but I don’t actually know. After about 4 seconds this is totally gone and you don’t feel anything, and then the needle will soon pop up. I always have a little spec of blood and clear liquid come from the injection site, I mean like a teeny tiny little dot, I just wipe it with my finger (I know I should use an alcohol pad I’m sure but whoops) and then it’s gone. This does not at all hurt like a flu shot. After I wipe that spec away there is zero evidence that you just had an injection there. Zero swelling or it being tender. And honestly to me, that 3-4 seconds of stinging, is SO WORTH IT!! And it is only once a month which is super reasonable. So please! If you have tried other preventative medications and nothing is working, PLEASE TRY EMGALITY! I hope it can work as well for you as it does for me <3Read More Read Less

I was headache free for two years after beginning this treatment. It has been absolutely life changing! I got covid vax in March 2021 and covid in October 2021. Since I have had covid, I am getting migraines again. Wondering if the vax or virus caused the Emgality to stop working? Anyone else having this experience?

I have been taking Emgality for over 3 years and I have achieved very good headache control. While I still have some migraines, they are shorter in duration and less severe than ever before. I have had migraines for 58 years and tried so many medications and treatments. I have not had to take time off work due to a migraine since I began taking Emgality and I can make social plans without fear of having to cancel. I have not had any of these terrible side effects that I see in other reviews. I would urge people to try it for themselves--this may be the one that works for you. I tried Ajovy before Emgality and found better results with Emgality. Read More Read Less
