I urge ALL of you to avoid the negative reviews of this drug; I am convinced that all negative side effects are purely psychological. People convince themselves that they're going to experience awful things. Emgality is hands-down the cleanest migraine preventative that I have tried and I have tried so much (Topamax, Amitriptyline, etc.) I have been experiencing chronic migraine since I was sevent...

I took Aimovig for 4 months and stopped because since the first shot my hair was falling out. Same problem with Emgality, I injected myself for the first time 3 weeks ago and hair loss began almost immediately. Going back to botox injections, no side effects with that.

I am a sufferer or I would not be writing this. I have used Emgality for over a year with great success other then the chronic constipation but I knew about this side affect from the get go. Reviews here talk about injection pen pain which I have to agree with but all of that injection site trauma stopped when I asked for the syringe instead of the pen. I have come to understand that the default delivery method when a doc orders the med is pen however they will send you syringes if you ask the doc to write for the syringe. The use of the syringe has made me not cringe when I go to the refrigerator to get the med out. I hope this helped.Read More Read Less

I was desperate and even though I was scared of side effects I took it. And I’ve had one migraine this month. BUT I will not be taking Emgality anymore because the reflux is HORRENDOUS. I am constantly clearing my throat and have an itchy feeling in my chest. It’s all day long. I’m also constipated which is bad but not as debilitating as the reflux. I’m sad becsuse it was nice to have no migraines.

Emgality is h th e worst medication I have tried for Vestibular Migraines. It has caused me to have worse vertigo/dizziness, racing heart, horrible anxiety & panic attacks, loss of appetite. I will never try this again.

I echo most others. At first 2 doses, happy it lessened my migraine frequency, duration and intensity. BUT, within 6 weeks, gained 5 pounds (5 ft tall, normally 120-125, now 130 with no diet or excercise changes,.in fact,.eat LESS, big impact ony frame), have intense joint and lower back pain, much more than normal, and worse of all, heart racing, near panic feelings while resting, pulse from normal around 70 to as high as 111 sitting?!! BP spikes, scary high. It's lucky the manufacturer website crashed and I couldn't refill it with the discount. As my insurance wont cover it, and the discount ends when I get medicare this year, decided to quit it along with allergy med and probably a low dose HRT suppository(even though that's made life better) to cut all possible culprits. Got it under control with more water,.slow breath mediation 4 or 5 times a day, but am seeing my PC.and neurologist about these issues. Also had 2.allergic rxns at injection sites. Ubrelvvy up to 2 doses a week and other natural remedies will have to do it when it's acute. BTW my migraine onset 2 years ago after a double concussion. I'll be reporting this to the FDA. The manufacturer side effects are incomplete and misleading. Not tested long enough. So sad it's not for me. Read More Read Less

Only took a single dose 120mg and the next day have worse vertigo than I normally do, headaches, anxiety, panic attacks, sweating and some stomach pain. Have to wait 25 more days for this horrible drug to leave my system. Will never use this again!

A year ago, my daughter had her first and only diocis. After two weeks, we have been living in a nightmare. She was in pain to the point of not being able to walk. A month later, she was diagnosed with LUPUS Since then, life has changed for us. She had not had any symptoms before until two weeks after applying this medication. If I could go back in time, I would totally DECLINE the option of using Emgality.

This drug has been life changing for me. I am so glad to finally have something that works. My only complaint is my head itches all the time. It is not dandruff type itch, it is persistent itching. Does anyone else have this issue?

Females, DO NOT USE if you still have a menstrual period. It has severe hormonal side effects similar to menopause and is painful. I also started having more severe migraines more often. I regret taking it and pray they list these side effects soon. Other women are having the same issues.

Medication works very well with reducing my cluster headache spells from a monthly thing to a once a year thing. No side effects other than injection site pain lasts about 5 seconds.

Terrible joint pain within a day of the loading dose massive hair loss , bloating and constipation. My doctor insisted there were no side effects at all. Haven’t seen any relief from migraines either. I seriously regret taking this medication I am so much worse off now. I will never take another dose and really not trusting the medical field anymore.

I started Emgality in August of 2022 for NDPH and intractable migraines. I was excited to start it and it worked for me for about 3 months. It brought my baseline pain down to about a 5/10 (it is normally at a 9/10 and unbearable) and I was really happy - until month 4. After my 4th month I really started to lose my hair, I mean clumps in the shower. I have also gained 20 lbs and my exercise and diet routines haven't changed. I have been the same weight for ten years. I have also been experiencing heart palpitations and increased anxiety. I stopped this drug in April 2023 and my hair loss has increased. I lose handfuls of hair everyday and I am scared about what my hair will soon look like. I cannot lose any of the weight and my head pain is a 10/10 now - worse than before I started. I regret taking this drug everyday and I caution everyone to do your research before starting it. I have about half of my hair now. Read More Read Less

Emgality has been life changing. Since starting it about 3 years ago, I have literally had no migraines. Zero. Used to have 5 or 6 a month and was taking Imitrex injections regularly. It has been a lifesaver and given back my quality of life. Shot is quite painful —but it’s worth it. I have noticed no side effects at all.

Hi blood Pressure patient here, who also had a stroke six years ago. Beg doctor not to give me anything that would raise my blood pressure or keep me in a hypertensive state. Didn't listen injected next morning. Blood pressure went from normal on blood pressure. Read what is in this medication and read what that other medication is meant to do. If question, Blood Pressure is gonna go up. The doctor that injected me this new neurologist never returned. My phone calls or my doctor's phone calls. I've gone to the office. She's never literally could have died.... Do not recommend this for people who are hypertensive.Read More Read Less

This has been life-changing for me. For over a decade, I had been plagued by migraines, and most recently had approximately 25 migraine days per month. The remaining days were spent in pro- and post-drome. I was absolutely miserable. I could no longer hold a job, and was not the person I needed to be for my family. I had also gained 90 pounds, had serious mood issues, and could not think straight. I thought I had a degenerative neurologic condition it was so severe. Since using Emgality, I have maybe four migraines a month and they respond easily to treatment so I do not lose those days. At first, I gained a little weight, but then I was able to do what I could not for over a decade because my body chemistry was so off - I was able to start a healthy eating plan and get up and moving. I have lost 40 lbs and am still going strong. I don't live in fear of waking up with a migraine on important days, like my wedding six years ago (luckily no migraine). I can eat onions, or have an occasional beer. The only real issue I have is some additional hair loss, which I am working to combat. I will still buy a wig before I give up this miracle that gave me my life again.Read More Read Less

Most importantly, this medicine has worked for me. I've gone from 6-15 migraines per month to 2. Hard to argue with the results. Now the negatives: 1. The injection hurts quite a bit. The initial poke is fine, but it increases in pain for the 10 seconds it takes to inject. 2. I have gained some weight on this. Hopefully this is a short term side effect. 3. I have developed eczema since starting this. Just a spot on my ankle, but I believe it's related. 4. Joint pain has been a thing, but not too bad. Overall, I hope it continues to work for me and that the side effects don't get worse Read More Read Less

Total neurologist that I am hypertensive how to stroke and have uncurrently or having blood pressure issues. And did not want to try anything that would affect my blood pressure. She said there is no side effects of blood pressure. This is why I see all the articles online about. It got home took my blood pressure so it wasn't feeling right and it Was 160 over. A? 105 and when I left the house to go to her. It was 118 / 87 This medicine definitely spikes your blood pressure. If you're hypertensive it makes you more hypertensive so I'm thoroughly discussed it in both the doctor and but this is not listed on one of the side effects which is very Dangerous now I had a double dose on my medicine and I have to wait to speak to my cardiologist and call the office in the morning since it's now And hopefully don't have to go to the hospital. Google the gene that's in this medicine and you'll see it comes from miceRead More Read Less

First of all, Emgality has worked extremely well at preventing my migraines. That is the most important thing. I have gone from 10-15 migraines per month to one or two. I now have "minor" migraines usually, which can be treated with Tylenol. These are the negatives that I have experienced: 1. Very painful injections. The initial poke isn't bad, but the pain increases during the ten seconds injection. Not a huge deal, but not fun. 2. This medicine MAY have caused joint pain for me. Seems worse since I started this drug, but can't be sure. 3. I have developed eczema since taking Emgality. Again, not sure if there is a connection. Overall, this has been a game changer with what I consider tolerable side effects. Read More Read Less

Life changing results. Emgality saved me from miserable and excruciating migraines. I have experienced zero side effects and I have now been using it for a full year. When I first started taking the shots they would only last about three weeks but now they last the full month. Emgality saved me! I thank my neurologist every checkup.

First, Emgality does NOT work for my cluster headaches. At all. Second, this is the most painful shot of any I’ve ever had in my life. I’ve been trying to use it for 2 years now with no positive results. The injection site stays red, causes a huge red bump & the pain lasts for several days. Apparently many others in my cluster headache support group experience the same problems. It may work for migraines but it sure does NOT for clusters.
