I was diagnosed with a spasmodic bladder in 1979 and have been taking Ditropan/Oxybutinen ever since. Started with Ditropan but switched to the generic Oxybutinen for insurance reasons once the generic became available. This drug has made all the difference in the world for me and I don't know what I'd do without it. I currently take 5mg tabs 3 times daily. I hope to try the XL version after my next Dr. visit so I only have to take one pill each day. Side effects have been dry mouth and constipation. I've recently discovered that dry mouth can be more serious than many people realize because it contributes to tooth decay, so you need to keep up with dental appointments. I treat constipation issues with Miralax or it's generic, which takes care of the problem.Read More Read Less

would this medication cause my hands joints and hurt enough to feel real tight and to swell

Began taking this medication two weeks ago, and have seen no improvement whatsoever in the condition it is suppose to be treating.

Little to no improvement.

I have only been taking one for about a month and yesterday started with 2. I thought I was going to faint at the store yesterday and today, 2 hrs. after taking, starting getting real weak and thought I was going to faint again. Could it be the medication and should I continue it????

I was very satisfied until I was taken off before surgery for a few days andthen I went back on it and it in't working now for my incontina. Can I take a larger dose? I take 15 ma.

I have been on this med twice a day but it is not enough. I still have problems with bladder control. I will ask my urologist to up the dose and take it three times a day. The dry mouth is a non issue.

The dry mouth is horrible! The pill works though. Taking medication due to a seperate procedure that caused me serious situations with my bladder.

My urgent need to urinate has gotten worse so I dribble defore I get to the toilet

It is very drying to my skin and I'm experiencing sever hair loss.

I took this in 2010, got a UTI and stopped. Started taking a month ago, now hav another UTI. Other side effect was extreem dry mouth, could hardly swallow at times. Drug was hardly any help for leakage.

Has stopped leakage and stopped the need to use pads. I have very dry mouth at nite but can now sleep at least 6 hours without having to get up. Only taking one pill a day.

I have developed what could be called large skin break outs on mostly my back and arms. I noticed that is one of the rare side effects. This condition started a short time after starting this drug. I did not for a long time put the 2 together. I am really getting tired of the appearance of these spots. Summer is coming on and long sleeve tops are too hot. Can you give me more info on the side effect. My internal doctor was very puzzled by the lesions. The lesions remind me of chicken pox. They itch and bleed when scratched. I have had some of the lesions since Dec. 2011 with very slow healing. My Dermatologist made no comment when seeing them.Read More Read Less

I was taking 5 mg 3x daily. It did help with the urgency and frequency due to having a bladder prolapse (bladder is in the wrong spot to be vague) I have just now realized it was causing the EXTREME FATIGUE I've had the past 6 months. I don't know why I didn't put it together in my head until now. I've had ridiculous fatigue and seen numerous 'ologists for help. And it's been this medicine. 24 hours with out and I feel some energy returning already, although I am peeing every 15 minutes.
