Good news - works on migraines especially in conjunction with Botox. Reduced both severity and frequency . Bad news - weight gain (7 lbs) , constipation is an understatement , acid reflux due to the digestive tract coming to a screeching halt, chest pain- ink is only related to gastro difficulties at this time (stress test in two weeks). Miralax and protonix now needed on top of the 64 oz of water...

The autopen is very difficult to use. It takes many, many tries to get the pen to actually dispense the medication. It "clicks" each time you press the button but it doesn't seem to work properly on each "click". It bitterly took me 5 minutes to do one injection. My Husband is on Humira and their auto-pen works flawlessly every time. Why can't Aimovig be this easy to inject?

I was diagnosed with DRUG INDUCED LUPUS after taking Aimovig. My doctor believes Aimovig caused it. If you are having Lupus symptoms (fatigue, hair loss, increased headaches, joint/muscle aches, fevers) ask your doctor to do an ANA blood test and a HISTONE IGG AB blood test. The Histone blood test is specific for drug induced Lupus. Aimovig is not know to cause drug induced Lupus, but it has not been on the market long. My doctor said it will take time for a pattern to emerge. If you discover you have Drug Induced Lupus, please report it and share these blood tests with others as I believe most doctors will not think to look it. If you do find you have Drug Induced Lupus, the good news is that it's reversible ... once you stop the drug, the Lupus will eventually go away. I hope this is helps anyone having "weird" symptoms weeks/months after taking Aimovig.Read More Read Less

I'm only into my first couple of weeks on Aimovig, but I am very satisfied!! Going from 4-5 migraines a week to none is an amazing feeling! So far no side effects, but like I said, it's only been a couple of weeks.

This drug has changed my life. I'm 58 and have suffered migraine since 14. I am free from daily pain for the first time in 44 years. I'm praying the Australian govt approves it for the PBS as I only have 6 months free access left on the familiarisation programme with Novartis. I have No noticeable side affects, other than no daily pain!

I have not seen a decrease, but slight increase from weaning off Topamax to Aimovig. I have AWFUL anxiety, irritability and depression.. Constipation is an understatement and I have gained 8lbs.(that is while working out 6 days/week and eating extremely clean). Just be cautious going into it and the side effects. I just saw my PCP yesterday and she said "no more!" I hate not feeling like my happy, bubbly self. I will continue with Botox and healthy lifestyle as I feel the Botox has been the most effective. If you haven't tried it- do it! It really is lifechanging. Hoping to help someone! Good luck!Read More Read Less

Been using migraine injections for 3 months now. It has maybe reduced my migraines by about 15% does change the sensation of the migraines but there are still debilitating days. Since I began this I've added two more Pharmaceuticals to my life to deal with what I believe our side effects from the injections. Doctor of course will not admit to issues with the injection. I have had an increase in neuropathy pain in my arms specifically during sleep causing me to wake regularly with severe pain. I have had much worse depression and anxiety and negative thoughts. I've gained 20 lbs without changing anything else in my life. I am bloated and cannot poop right. I am not taking this injection again. I do not know how long it stays in your body but I hope that it leaves my system quickly and that the side effects are not long-lasting. For being a drug approved by the FDA with no listed side effects I see many people dealing with side effects. I am not okay with the ones I have experienced and I'm not okay with having to add more pills to my life. I'm also going to change doctorsRead More Read Less

Overall, this is a Godsend! I do have some constipation but have found that if I stay on top of it, it is not a problem. I have had a slight increase in anxiety but completely managable. No head pain!!!

I'm 18 yrs old and have had a constant chronic migraine for 2 1/2 yrs that had never let up - I was in pain 24/7. I've had two shots of Aimovig and I feel like I have my life back. My daily pain level used to be between a 6-9, but within 7 days of the first shot my pain level has been a constant 2 each day. I still have a migraine every day but the pain is now manageable and I'm able to function with no problems. I have had no side effects from this medication.

Over 40 years of migraines. Average 18 per month. Took either Imitrex an/or Zomig for each migraine. Tried Aimovig for 5 months and was somewhat effective but didn’t work consistently. Doctor doubled the dosage and am now averaging 5 migraines per month and only one Imitrex per month. The rest are controlled with a single Zomigvtab.

I’ll stay with Botox and Trokendi thanks .Read More Read Less

Migraine sufferer for over 30 years. Nothing preventative has worked very well - magnesium, inderal/propranolol, toprimate, melatonin, gabapentin. Currently on botox for about a year - which helped some with the intensity of the migraines but not the frequency. Have taken my third shot of Aimovig and it's been a miracle. I am working with my neuro to see if its a combo of the botox and aimovig or just the aimovig which is providing a relief. I have only had 1 migraine for the past 6 weeks and that was my fault (was up for over 24 hours). I have had a headache here or there but was able to treat it with OTC. So here's the bad: the injection burns like a SOB but after a minute, its over. Constipation - started taking a probiotic which has helped but not back to where I was before (still experimenting) - but I'll take it vs a migraine for 3 days. After the third month, I've noticed joint pain in my elbow - pretty sure it's related to the Aimovig. It's not bad, just more annoying than anything. I am going to get it checked out to make sure nothing more is going on in there. This medicine has given me my life back. I am excited to be able to finish things for the first time in a long time.Read More Read Less

The Good: Reduced migraine duration by 50% and intensity by 30%. The Bad: No effect on migraine frequency and bad side effects: depression, anxiety, elevated blood pressure, constipation, GERD, fatigue, significant spaciness, heart palpitations, flu-like symptoms after injection that decreased by month 3 at 140 mg per month. Was on rival drug Ajovy for 6 months and it worked better with fewer side effects, but also quit that one due to spaciness and fatigue which made both driving and thinking impossible. Going back to Botox and hoping PACAP antibody drugs in Phase 2 human trials pan out (PACAP drugs: AMG301, ALD1910).Read More Read Less

Wow! Such a blessing. My life is very different with no migraines now! I still have stomach issues with extreme hunger for a week which always accompanies my migraines but now only a slight head ache for a couple hours then it vanishes.

This may not be a fair review as I donâ??t have typical migraines. I suffer from every migraine condition, ie: hemiplegic migraine, ocular migraine, basilar migraine, etc. Almost all of them are accompanied with some type of aura. I am fortunate that many times I just have the aura and a regular headache. However the aura last from 20 minutes to an hour and can make it difficult to be dependable as I canâ??t drive during these episodes which can cause me to be late to work and appointments. Took my first and only injection of Aimovig the end of December and it definately changed my episodes. Still experience a lot of auras but now almost always followed with a horrible migraine. Even the auras have changed, I not only have the wavy colored lightening bolts but have added a white cloud that covers my vision. I will wake up in the middle of the night and itâ??s because I have a migraine. I wake up in the morning with a migraine. So for me I have experienced a huge increase in migraines and the same if not more aura events. Wish I had never tried it. Hoped after thirty days or so it would revert back to my â??normalâ? but that hasnâ??t happened. Itâ??s been close to 90 days and no improvement. Almost as though it reset my brain and not in a good way.Read More Read Less
