Good news - works on migraines especially in conjunction with Botox. Reduced both severity and frequency . Bad news - weight gain (7 lbs) , constipation is an understatement , acid reflux due to the digestive tract coming to a screeching halt, chest pain- ink is only related to gastro difficulties at this time (stress test in two weeks). Miralax and protonix now needed on top of the 64 oz of water...

The autopen is very difficult to use. It takes many, many tries to get the pen to actually dispense the medication. It "clicks" each time you press the button but it doesn't seem to work properly on each "click". It bitterly took me 5 minutes to do one injection. My Husband is on Humira and their auto-pen works flawlessly every time. Why can't Aimovig be this easy to inject?

Worked like a wonder drug for my chronic migraines. However the side effect of worsening depression got so bad I was hospitalized TWICE. Although I struggled with depression most my life, it was well managed with medication and I was NEVER to the point of hospitalization. I even tried the medicine twice to make sure the depression wasn’t linked to something else, but about a week and a half after taking it the second time, I was hospitalized again with severe anxiety and depression,(with the feeling of hopelessness being the worst). which that combination is extremely dangerous. So I couldn’t continue the medication or any similar medication. Read More Read Less

The drug itself is amazing. I had daily migraines from the age of twelve, and started on this in my early 30s. It's the first medication to ever actually do anything. My dissatisfaction comes from the injector. I've never had any technical issues, but the pain is extreme. I've taken half a dozen other injection medicines (at home) for Crohn's, and they're all completely painless. Aimovig's feels like a bulldozer ramming itself through your skin. I have no idea why this is so, and it seems completely avoidable if they used a different needle--obviously it can be done, since all the others do it.Read More Read Less

I tried another monthly injection and had a horrible reaction, I am fine with this. Combined with Botox I am migraine free, if I am late with either of the combo, the migraines return. The injection is painful to me, but I tolerate it because of its effectiveness. I've only had one injection site issue, it's rare and was probably my fault, can't remember if I cleaned the area ahead of time.

Ended up in the emergency room a few days after taking the shot of 140 mg. I felt dizzy and blood pressure was high.

I had been using the injection for 3 years, and the benefit was clear: migraine attacks were almost negligible, and I didn't face any problems except for a strange increase in weight. I don't consider it a side effect, but my doctor mentioned that it might be one of the rare cases. I gained 15 kilograms. I have now stopped taking the injection, and the situation is still under control, but I am struggling to lose weight.

The worst medication on the market. The lack of being able to go to the bathroom. Feeling nauseated at all times from not being able to use the restroom. The bruising hair falling out this is absolutely the worst medicine on the market, honestly do your research

It took one dose of this medication that I took on 1/30/24 and still today 4/08/24 I am feeling the horrible side effects from this medication. Had severe constipation, intestinal bleeding, feeling weak still to this day now I’m experiencing diarrhea, nausea can’t eat much cause everything I eat gives me a stomach ache, didn’t help the migraines at all. My body still hasn’t gone back to it’s normal self.. DO NOT RECOMMEND..

I received one dose of this in the office and in two weeks, I became extremely depressed and fatigued and unable to sleep well some nights due to restless or twitching in my legs. I would not recommend this. Also, I am now dealing with severe constipation. I took this after being desperate to get rid of an ongoing migraine where the other meds were not helping enough and the botox shots wore off early. I regret it. I now understand it can take over 5 months for this to fully leave my system. I will be avoiding CRPG blockers because I understand they may not be good for the long term use and now they have affected my mental health. Also, I figured out that buying a simple Ice Hat on Amazon relieves most severe migraines by now. Wish I would have started with that over these drugs. Read More Read Less

I've been taking aimovig for 3 months now and it's changed my life! No more migraines... I still get hormonal headaches, which used to be 3 days of migraines. Now, I can take an extra strength tylenol, and it manages the headache. There's definitely constipation and fatigue, but that's it. It's worth a try if you've been struggling.

Aimovig has been a life-changer. It eliminated almost all my migraines and when I did feel a migraine coming on, it made zolmitriptan work better. I have not had a full-blown migraine since 2 months after starting Aimovig 4 years ago. No side effects for me.

My dr put me on the 140mg. It has helped drastically. I still get occasional migraines the week before the next injection. The only thing is that it’s quite painful. For the first year it was fine. I alternate thighs for injection but it seems the pain comes from the medicine going in. The shot itself doesn’t bother me. I’ve been thinking about trying a new area but I’m afraid of it hurting.

I have taken 70mg of Aimovig for 1.5 years, it worked great on my migraines but around 6 months ago I started getting pins and needles in my hands and feet, worse vertigo, eye floaters and flashes and now bad ear ringing. I will stop this medicine to see if symptoms improve but they say it can take 3 to 5 months to clear your system.

I am a chronic migraine sufferer (40+ years). The Aimovig injection is impossible to do, I have to get my doctor to give it to me. And absolutely have extreme constipation, insomnia & the worst is the very extreme dehydration throughout my body (skin, hair, lips). And the weight gain of over 30 pounds over the past 3 years. I thought these side effects were from another medication. Why do medications cause far more harm and terrible side effects than the original pains for which a person was searching relief? I am definitely not using this medication again!Read More Read Less

I found the medication worked well for my migraine but I was told only side effect was constipation which it definitely was but after 8 months I was feeling miserable. I had serious bladder issues which on investigation it was acutely inflamed. I had shoulder and neck pain going into chest. Originally I had pains going down my arms. I was retaining fluid and had insomnia. My hair was definitely thinning. I changed hair dresser twice thinking it was cut or dye or something. When I was so miserable I decided to look at reviews and some of these issues were mentioned so I stopped drug. Now 3 months out I am recovering slowly. My bladder is nearly better but still inflamed. I would never touch this drug again. I was worried what damage it did to me and would I ever recover like at 55 not being able to leave house because I needed the toilet so much on occasions. It got progressively worse all the time. I suffer severe migraines, complicated migraines. I was constantly craving caffeine and chocolate. I have taken literally a shot and 3 back up pills at once to manage migraines with no luck and would still get 2 a week on all i was taking. I fought insurance for over a year to get my Aimovig approved and it's absolutely the only shot thar works for me. I do not Even get cravings anymore for chocolate or caffeine. And without those cravings I'm dropping back down to my smaller frame. I'm having less missed work days. I should send all my missed days of work to my insurance for not allowing me to have this medication for so long. This is the only migraine medication that works 100 percent for me. I wish it was affordable without insurance. My fear is losing having it again. Read More Read Less

Aimovig 70 was a life changer for me. A real miracle. I suffered from migraines every week, missing work , missing out on life. After the first injection I went immediately to 1-2 migraines every 6 months with a drastic reduction in severity. No more days sick in bed, no more recovery days and I have had no side effects. Unfortunately now my insurance has decided not to cover the medication for me. My Dr and I are fighting this with an appeal and etc. I cant face going back to my life the way it was before this medicine. Read More Read Less

Had my first injection a week ago. Had flu like muscle aches hours after injection, developed what I would term a baby migraine (meaning a migraine but slightly less severe than full blown) the next day, total insomnia the next two nights, and headache has not gone away since it started on day 2. I've had no constipation issues. I don't believe this drug is going to work for me. Wish they were upfront about the possible side effects.
