I have had NO side effects. I inject myself before bed, so if there are side effects, I don't notice them. This is the easiest self-injectable I have ever used!

This drug causes an extreme reaction in my 89 year old mother. Severe pain in her jaw and arms, flushing and heat in the face, dizziness for an hour or more after the shot. She has always had low BP but now even that is unpredictable and can be seriously high on any given day.

Easy to use; love that it doesn't have to be refrigerated. The pen needle is tiny and doesn't hurt. It gives me a teeny tiny headache, and some fleeting little shock-like pains in my bones. Neither of these would cause me to stop using it. I have only been using it for a few weeks.

I agreed to take Tymols because of my bone density scores, and I refused to take biophosphates. I have been on Tymlos for 22 months, and my doctor says I can stop now but I should go on Foxomax. I will not do that, so she suggested Reloxifine. It appears to be the safest post Tymlos med for me. Anyone have experience with it? Also, one side effect I had from Tymlos is stomach bloat. Does anyone know if it will go away when I get off Tymlos?

I’m currently taking my last month of Tymlos injection 1x daily, thus completing the 2 year course. I’m happy to say that I didn’t notice any of the possible side effects.(I always used it before bedtime) I’m due for another bone scan, but I did have one a year ago which showed improvement in my bone density. I do have a question if anyone can answer please: Is the medication supposed to be decreased prior to stopping? My pharmacy called asking me if my dr told me how to stop taking it? Thanks! Sincerely, LRRead More Read Less

I’ve only been using Tymlos for 8 days and I’ve adapted to giving myself the shot just fine but my side effects are nasty. I have more than just a headache, it’s constant and has Intermittent stabbing pains in my temples plus I have low grade nausea for hours after the injection. I have changed my shot time from night to morning but I still don’t sleep good anymore and I was a great sleeper. My head hurts so badly that it wakes me and keeps me from going back to sleep. I’ve been using an ice pack on my head to survive. I don’t have any of the other side effects. Will these effects I’m having subside soon or will this be ongoing ? I’m miserable. Read More Read Less

So far I've had good luck with this medication. I take the full dose in the morning. I have a slight headbuzz for a little while, but then it goes away. No other reactions. I can't speak to the results since I'm not yet due for blood tests, but I'm confident that it will do what it's supposed to do.

I’ve only been taking it for a month and a half but experienced severe pain in my feet. Had MRI showed some inflammation. But when I stop taking the injection the pain goes away. After stopping for a one and a half weeks after one injection the same pain in my feet and hands have returned. I think I’m going to try every other day although the doctor saidNone of his patients have experienced my symptoms

Been on Tymlos for 4 months so cannot speak to its effectiveness until my blood work and DEXA scans later this year. However, I have suffered from severe headaches at night (which is when I inject the medicine), joint pain during the day, occasional rapid heartbeat and swelling of my belly. This has not been a pleasant experience at all for me.

I’ve been on Tymlos for one year. Yes throbbing head for <1 hour after a shot. Labs show improvement. But now I’m suddenly low in thyroid. And getting leg pains throughout the day which I had in one leg from old injury. But both?! Endocrinologist said I’m absorbing double—but why after a year? I’m considering stopping it if reducing to alternate nights doesn’t help. I’m

Yes, my dexascan showed dramatic improvement— in only 5 months. HOWEVER— due to severe side effects- stomach issues- I was told to stop. My labs showed a very high alk phos so because I was having such bad problems with my stomach, I was tested for gallbladder issues. All tests for gallbladder were negative. Turns out the high alk phos was coming from bone. Evidently, I am a “super responder” to Tymlos. And due to the very abnormal labs, I’m being switched to another drug, Reclast. Gastritis or bad stomach issues (GERD, stomach pain, gas, belching) is not listed as a common side effect, but I had all of those. Since then, my doctor said she heard of another endocrinologist who had a patient with similar issues. So just throwing it out there to the community. I suffered for months before it dawned on me that it could be related to the Tymlos. Read More Read Less

I was diagnosed with severe Osteoporosis 2 years ago at 58 years old . I then started Tymlos, zero side effects and I gave it to myself every am for 18 months. Had Dexa scan 2 days ago and I am no longer in the severe Osteoporosis range. I was -2.9 I am now -2.1. I went from severe Osteoporosis to Osteopenia. I could not be more pleased with the results of this medicine . My doctor messaged me that I had a SIGNIFICENT IMPROVEMENT , and that my body had an excellent response from the meds.

This medication has been difficult for me. It has coincided with high blood pressure and high heart rates. Then I was put on a low dose of Lispranol for the BP and so I also have episodes of almost passing out low BP after having an injection. I’m scheduled for a bone density scan in December and I’m hoping to be done with these injections. Currently the high heart rate occurs within 20 minutes of an injection and continues for about 2 hours~ making sleep difficult. Has anyone else experienced these issues? I feel like I’m rolling the dice on a daily basis with this medication.Read More Read Less

I have been on the drug four months. I haven't had a bone density yet - it's too soon. However, I have had no problem doing the shots daily in my abdomen and I have had absolutely no side effects. I do the shots at 10 PM - shortly before bed.

I've had osteopenia/porosis since my late 20s....long before menopause. I've been on a variety of medications for it. Otherwise I am perfectly healthy and now in my 60s. I have been taking this medication for 2 months. Immediately after injection, my kidneys/lower back start throbbing. I feel a slight headache and a little tired. I have to sit down. So I do the injection right before bed so it doesn't interfere with work in the morning. I also am a person who is consistently dehydrated. I try to drink water after the injection and that seems to help a bit. But now my blood pressure has gone way up. Has anyone else had these symptoms?Read More Read Less

I have never been an athletic type woman however I was very active physically, even more since my retirement in 2014. We have a few acres of woods & field that we try to keep naturalized & have a continual battle against noxious weeds. One year ago this month (10-2022) we were marking spots of poison ivy & poke weed that would need attention in the spring & not paying attention I tripped & fell face first on the hard ground. As the shock wore off the pain set in, worse in my back & legs and I couldn’t walk without help & screaming pain. Long story short, after many doctors & evaluations we were told that I had fractured 3 vertebrae but had severe osteoporosis & the spinal fusion surgery couldn’t be done as my bones were too porous to hold the hardware. I needed to build bone and be reevaluated. The plan was start physical therapy and a bone building medication. Appts were made & I began PT and the insurance process for Tymlos got started. Not long into PT the therapist did something called “passive traction” meaning he pulled extremely hard on my leg causing a new & wicked pain which a trip to urgent care the next day confirmed I now had a broken pelvis. When I started Tymlos my rheumatologist said it would help that fracture heal; by week #4 of Tymlos the pain from the pelvic fracture was almost gone. Impressive. If it is building bone that well I’ll say mission accomplished. I have had no side affects at all which prompted me to call my pharmacy to make sure I wasn’t getting a placebo. I’m still early in my Tymlos journey, 4 months, but with all of this said, I am optimistic and hope others can feel optimism as well :)Read More Read Less

Financial information for persons on this medication to be aware of: I would never have been able to afford Tymlos without co-pay assistance arranged by my physician. My insurance billed me over $2,900 with the explanation that the co-pay assistance funds had been exhausted on a tymlos prescription in January, 2022. I was shocked and would have stopped this medication if I had known that I would be responsible for this cost that I, and most people are unable to afford out of pocket. I’m sure that my physician would have helped me find another medication alternative, had she known this. I will not go on tymlos again in 2 years, as discussed with my physician. Sadly, I will need to find another alternative to Tymlos that is more affordable.Read More Read Less

its only been a few weeks since i started injecting Tymlos. However, i've gained weight in my belly where you give yourself the injection. i rotate sides, i haven't had pain. But i've noticed just in my belly, that it looks like i'm pregnant which i'm not. no matter how much i work out, the belly is the only area not changing. I keep a fairly healthy diet, but i've never had a change like this. Tymlos is the only new thing i've had. i found on inspire.com that others have weight gain in their in their stomach's as well. not sure if this new "fat" will go away if i end up dc'ing the injection. I have just begun taking Tymlos, but an challenged because of the location they suggest for the injection. After gaining 75 lbs while being pregnant with triplets, I had to have surgery to repair torn stomach muscles and remove excess skin. Now as an 87lb women who works out regularly, my small stomach is very muscular but covered with scar tissue and stretch marks. Is there an alternative location where I can inject the Tymlos?

I have been injecting Tymlos for a month and have not experienced any side effects other than a headache in the morning which dissipated after about 30 minutes. I inject it at night 30 minutes before bed. My habits of regular exercise, daily stretches and drinking lots of water may help deter other side effects. The daily injection takes a little getting used to but it’s a minor and temporary discomfort. So far, so good.
