I have struggled to find a birth control that works for me without making me overly hormonal and Nikki is the first one out of at least 6 different medications that worked for me. I do get break through bleeding if I miss a pill, but it's gone within a day. Overall, I have very positive things to say about this.

I have taken the generic form of Yaz (gianvi) for 7 years. I knew when my period would start and end to the day. I never had bad cramping, acne, or huge mood swings. I was given Nikki this month because my pharmacy switched providers. I'm had my cycle for 2.5 weeks and am still spotting. I'm dizzy some days and have acne all of the sudden. I feel like this BC is effecting every part of me and I wa...

I am 30 years old and just went on birth control about 5 months ago. I have issues with mild acne, so when I mentioned that to my doc she switched me to Nikki. The first month was ok, until I went to the placebos. I had no period until the first pill of the next pack, which came with terrible cramps, cystic acne, and spotting for two weeks after the end of my period. I bled almost a whole month. Cramping came with the heavier spotting. I do not recommend this drug. I was very moody and depressed for the entire second month of this pill. Not worth it.Read More Read Less

This review is for all of the women out there reading the reviews about Nikki that say how horrible and how awful it is. After i was prescribed this drug, I did NOT want to take it after reading the reviews, in fear my acne would get worse and I would feel all of these horrible things. Long story short: If your doctor recommends this pill, just give it a try. Every body chemistry is different. Every woman reacts differently to hormones. This was my FIRST time trying a pill BC since I was 17 (I'm 26). I was certain the bad side effects would hit full force. Not the case. I haven't felt different at all. My acne hasn't necessarily gotten better but it definitely hasn't gotten worse. I am almost done with my first month and overall I would say this has no negative side effects at all. Don't let horror stories scare you ; again, every body chemistry is different. If you don't react well you can always get a different prescription.Read More Read Less

Similar to a prior reviewer, I too was switched from the generic Vestura to Nikki by Walgreens and have been bleeding ever since the change.

I was switched to Nikki from Vestura by Walgreens. They told me the manufacturer stopped producing vestura. I now see that may not be the truth based on these comments. I have had issues with cramps and bleeding for 2 weeks as well.

Works good for me. Did not increase appetite or change my mood at all. Also cleared up skin quickly. Would recommend this brand

Nightmare! I've been on b.c since I was 16...I'm 35 now, never have I experienced such horrible side effects. Migraines, severe weight gain, Brest tenderness to the point a bra hurt, and frequent nausea/dizziness! 3months I've tolerated this

I originally was prescribed Nikki to tame my acne. Let me tell you...I had the WORST experience ever. I only lasted about four days. The first day I took it, my cramps were excruciating (legs shaking from the pain even with maximum dose Advil). I was basically living on pain pills for a few days. My flow became super heavy as well and I made quite a few trips to the bathroom to change pads. As if that wasn’t enough, I was bedridden for a couple days with severe nausea and came close to vomiting multiple times. My appetite went away completely and I felt so weak. My pharmacist said to immediately stop medication and my gynecologist even suggested going to the ER if nothing improved. It has now been a day since I last took the pill and I feel so much better. Never using Nikki again...I’m just lucky I didn’t have work this week because I definitely would have had to take sick days. Read More Read Less

My insurance switched me to Nikki. I was only on it for once pack/cycle, but the side effects were horrible. I had terrible cramping, was extremely moody, irritable, and cried almost every day. I'm 32 and have always had relatively clear skin through puberty and minimal during periods. My skin broke out terribly. Thankfully, our company switched insurance and I'm not on Nikki anymore. No other birth control has ever had that affect on me.

It’s effective as a birth control but the side effects I’ve had are just like everyone else here. I went through five or six pads within the first 24 hours of my period on this pill. I’ve had severe headaches. I’m absolutely exhausted and have also experienced terrible nausea. I never had any of these problems while I was on Vestura. The pharmacy claims that there is no different and technically they’re right since the ingredients are the same to prevent pregnancy but they are not the same. I believe this is the more “generic” pill and it shows. If it ain’t broken, don’t fix it.Read More Read Less

HORRIBLE!!!! Please do not take this drug. I was taking vestuea and gianvi for years and had absolutely no issues. This has now affected my job. I can’t wake up in the morning because I feel so extremely exhausted, even after sleeping for 14-15 hours. My first period lasted an entire month. Before, I barely had a period. I didn’t even have to use a tampon or pad. I woke up the other morning and my shorts were SOAKED. I went to the bathroom to change my tampon and it literally looked like a murder scene. Blood everywhere, all over the floor. It was honestly scary for me to think I was losing that much blood... Read More Read Less

My pharmacist subbed Nikki for Gianvi without notifying me. Apparently Kroger has chosen to stop stocking Gianni entirely and I shouldnâ??t complain because â??itâ??s the same thing.â? Uh, no. Itâ??s not. I gave Nikki a fair trial (four months). In four months Iâ??ve experienced weight gain, acne, and (most recently) migraines so bad that they make me vomit. Iâ??ve never had a migraine in my life, and I now get them every month during the week before my period. But, yeah, itâ??s totally the same thing. No worries. Read More Read Less

Walgreens switched my vestura to Nikki and told me I?t was the same thing, I?t was most definitely not! I? thought I? was going crazy, crying every day, severely irritated all month long, gained 6lbs and another 4 during period, sleep way more than I? used to, so I? called my doctor and he said they have been getting a lot of complaints, and he wrote my prescription to be for vestura ONLY. I? started searching the web after talking to him, I?t was so nice to read that I? wasn’t the only one effected by this!!Read More Read Less

I've had cystic acne on my chin appearing like clockwork a week before my period and I would spend the rest of the month attempting to get rid of it, just for it to leave a scar and another one to appear the next month. This gets rid of cystic acne very fast, within a week at the least but if you're still having problems I suggest cutting out dairy for the 2 weeks before your period-- It worked for me and I was amazed. However, I have had TERRIBLE mood swings and headaches. I hadn't put 2 and 2 together until a couple weeks ago and now I know its the medicine driving me crazy and not just me. Buyer beware.Read More Read Less

The pharmacy switched me against my will from Vestura to Nikki and I hate it with the fire of 1,000 suns. I gained 5 pounds, I got a cold sore for the first time in a year, I'm so moody I feel like crying and stabbing someone basically all the time, my breasts are crazy sore, and I've had breakthrough bleeding. Willing to bet I'll get a migraine next week when I go on the blanks. This is the worst. I'm on my way to beg them to put me back on Vestura.

I wanted to go back on birth control for my periods and my doctor prescribed me this birth control. I have got to say this is THE WORST birth control brand. Painful breasts, spotting for a month, panic attacks, anxiety and vomiting. I lost countless hours of sleep because after I took the pill I would become nauseous and vomit. The only thing I have to say is it protected me against pregnancy. Please whoever is newly prescribed to this medication PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE talk to your doctor about the side effects and if this is the right pill for you. I stopped taking the pill today and I am not anxious or nauseous.Read More Read Less

I got this medication substituted for Vestura , which is already a generic form of Yaz . That was weird and I asked the pharmacist if this was the same or why they did this one. They told me that they had switched providers and that was what they had to offer instead of Vestura, that it was the exactly the same besides some inactive ingredients/dyes. This birth control is the worst birth control I have ever tried. I had clear skin, normal periods, had been on it for 2 years or so. I have suddenly developed severe acne / pimples that are painful Read More Read Less

I was forced to switch to this generic form of bc and I absolute hate it. I recently stopped taking it after 2 months. I have had crazy mood swings, major anxiety, bad acne and HEAVY periods with painful cramping. I had NONE of these problems before switching to Nikki. I know everyone is different and reacts differently but from what I have read here and on other sites, Nikki is NOT working for most women who have had to switch. I dont recommend this.

I've been on the pill for ever, I had to change and I have to say I had never experienced anything like that. Strong palpitations, extremely tender, swollen and painful breasts, and last but nor least an awful migraine with vomiting. Definitely a big no no !!
