I started this drug about 2 months ago after struggling with IBS with Constipation for most of my adult life. I am now 42! I finally found a gastro who heard the fact that I only had a movement about once every 7 days and was shocked and actually told me, that is horrible and not normal and lets try some things to change that. I got some samples of Linzess and began them after finishing up a cou...
This drug caused a burning sensation in my esophagus, making it hard to swallow. Because of that, I had to have a barium swallow, which caused severe constipation for 3 months and a hospital bill of 3 hundred dollars that I have yet pay and is now destroying my credit. I feel I should be compensated for my loss and aggravation.

I have chronic constipation with no known origin. My Gastrointestinal M.D. put me on Linzess to help with the chronic constipation. However, I soon realised that the Linzess always gave me explosive diarrhoea and if I ever wanted to get out of my bathroom (and have a life), I had to counter-act with loperamide. For that very reason I know that I can’t take the Linzess! It made my life miserable!

This medication completely takes any fluids in your body to use to help make a bowel movement. Leaving you feeling dehydrated. I was a horrible medication for me. I started on 75mg and a bowel movement happened in 4-6 hours. It started as hard stool and then the diarrhea lasted ALL DAY! Messy and gross! I had to counteract it with Imodium if I wanted to leave my bathroom. I’ve tried using it a handful of times hoping for a different outcome. I threw whole bottle in garbage. Never again!

I’m am taking Linzess 290mg. It worked at first, for maybe a couple of month. It then stopped working. I kept taking it hoping it would work again but it never did. When I saw my doctor this week he told me I could stop taking it.

I was on Linzess for a month. I had a big cleanout on day 2, but after that, it pretty much stopped working. My doctor increased the dose, but that didn't work either. I would have given it more time, but the pressure and bloating in my belly became unbearable. I couldn't really eat because the backup was so bad. Also, it looked like I was 4 months pregnant. I went off this drug. It caused me so much discomfort and yielded no desirable results.

I suffer from low iron deficiency therefore I have to take iron supplements which constipates me big time!! I absolutely HATE taking medications especially for something my body should be naturally doing. My G.I. Doctor gave Linzess 145mg which did nothing to me at all, I was nervous because I was thinking “how can a laxative not have any effect on me?” So I went back to my doctor, she prescribed a stronger dose of 290mg and let me tell you, DAMN!! Hit me out of nowhere lol. But I felt a lot better. What does scare me that I just found out on Google is it says the side effects for this medication is infection and upper respiratory infections. I did not know that and how can a laxative cause upper respiratory infections? Read More Read Less

Does not make me use the bathroom, but it gives me plenty of gas on my stomach. After about six days of not being able to use the bathroom, I have to take a colon cleanse. And then I have explosive diarrhea.

I have lived with Crohn's Disease (Diagnosed 22yrs ago), which has been the cause major constipation my entire life. I know what you’re thinking, and no it doesn't make sense, but does Crohn's really make sense? I’m a little behind on all the new meds and treatments, but up until about 5yrs ago I had tried and or had most of the medications, SIDE EFFECTS, surgeries, hospitalizations, and procedures you could throw at me. I have successfully been in remission for about 5yrs, and I attribute some of that success to Linzess. Before using Linzess, I was playing a care balancing act between laxatives and anti-diarrheal to make it to work every day. Now make sure to drink enough water every day, and I take 290mg before bed almost every night. Linzess took time to get used to because taking too little can be just as uncomfortable as to taking too much. I did some research and found the side effects for both taking too much and too little, and from there went based on how I felt. I started with 75mg every other day until my Doctor and I found the correct timing and dosage for me.Read More Read Less

Have been using this medication for awhile now, I switch from 75mg to 150mg. It’s definitely a type of medication that you take when you don’t have anything to do and are just planning on hanging around the house but it works most of the time. The only issue I have is if the medicine gets warm. It seems to not work as well so definitely keep it in a cool area.

When reading these reviews...it is important to realize there are MANY reasons for constipation. My issue appears to be motility (movement). It may be caused by nerve damage that is interfering with the signals to the muscles surrounding the bowels. The only way I can get my bowels moving is by taking stimulant laxatives (bisacodyl). Linzess does not work for me at all.

I’ve struggled with constipation since childhood. Finally started seeing a GI doc as an adult and he prescribed linzess. It works, however it can work to well sometimes. It took me a while to find my rhythm with this med but once I did it’s a lifesaver. I highly suggest your first dose should be a day when your not leaving the house. I only take it when I’m starting to notice incomplete bowel movements and or constipation. I take it on an empty stomach in the morning and I won’t eat for least 45 min - hour. Once I eat I’m heading to the bathroom. I will say I have diarrhea but no cramping just pretty intense urgency. That last an hour or so then I’m good. But honestly it’s worth it for me and my issues. I really have a hard time understanding all these negative opinions of Linzess. I've had chronic constipations since I was a child and nothing has worked. I bloat no matter what I eat, strain to make a bowel movement, and am in constant fear of eating because of the pain of not going to the bathroom. I've spent a ridiculous amount of time trying to go to the bathroom and having this sensation of having to go but never fully going. I've tried just about everything in the only way I can even go to the bathroom Is with suppositories. Then 2 years ago my GI doctor put me on Linzess. For the first week or so I could not be more than 10 feet from the nearest bathroom because the onset of bowel movement is sudden. Bowel movements were completely watery but the relief of being bloated and gassy was real. After 2 weeks, i was going normally. Then last year my insurance suddenly stopped covering it a nd my doctor tried several others. Nothing worked ... bloating n pain returned and I gained weight. Under a new plan this year they approved Linzess again Ive been back on it for 4 days now. Im already feeling relief. Im still in the rush to bathroom stage but its far superior to the chronic constipation Ive suffered my whole life. For me this is a miracle drug.Read More Read Less

I am a chronic constipation patient and gone through trying Linzess twice, but nothing improve as based on my symptoms and food consuming help me recognize that my constipation cause by acid stomach deficiency which cause SIBO. Please research medicine that improve stomach acid production. Helicopter Pylori’s enzymes can impact to stomach lining and G-cells for acid stomach production

Unless you suffer from severe constipation do not take this. I have some sort of intestinal parasite that’s had me blocked for months but I still go once a day just not 3x a day like normal. I passed a 2 foot worm back over the summer but symptoms are back. Discomfort with pain. Waiting for tests to be finished, dr gave me this to see if it would help with the discomfort and bowel normalcy. I was hesitant to take this but read it relaxes the nerves in your gi tract so thought what could it hurt? Kicked in almost instantly but was on the toilet multiple times with diarrhea like a stream. Pain in abdomen was gone but felt very lethargic after. Drank a body armor and giant water. It’s now late in the evening and my heart is still beating faster than normal. Going to drink a liquid iv before bed. Hope I feel better tomorrow. I will not take this medication again. Read More Read Less

Since I was a kid I've had issues not being able to poop. I'm 44 now and was going little rabbit pellets every two weeks with daily nausea, pain, bloating, etc. After many other meds, barium swallow, colonoscopies, and endoscopies my doctor put me on Linzess and it's been a week and like others the first dose worked in a couple hours. It got out some rabbit pellets. The second day more rabbit pellets. Every day since I've gone twice a day normal poop no diarrhea or pain. take this on an empty stomach and you should be fine. i am so grateful to finally feel what it's like to poop like a normal person!
